Workday Wardrobe ~ Dec. 16-20
Workday Wardrobe is normally on Saturday, but it was pre-empted this week by Where Bloggers Live: A Very Special Holiday Edition. So…a Sunday Surprise, woohoo!
tuesday
I had the day off Monday so we’re starting with Tuesday. I can’t believe that day off was just this week, it seems like ages ago! I can’t really remember that day. Was it cold so I wore the poncho turtleneck? Was it warm so I could have bare ankles? It’s a mystery. But I wore the navy Loft turtleneck you saw here…and the black skinny jeans you saw here…and the Me Too slip-ons that are so so good.
wednesday
This was my 70s high school days throwback outfit. And yes, yes, I bought another thing in that cinnamon/rust/cognac/brown color – a v-neck knit pullover from Target. Like in-person. I haven’t bought a clothing item (other than shoes) from an actual brick-and-mortar in ages. It’s under last year’s B.P. Nordstrom black plaid flannel top (with thin rust-colored stripes running through the plaid) that you saw here. The skinny jeans you’ve seen, literally, a hundred times – discontinued from Charlotte Russe. And such a shame cuz they’re the perfect length for short legs with no alteration expense. And leopard flats from Aerosole. Weren’t your new leopard flats from Target, you ask. Uhm, yes. That’s a story for another day.
thursday
A COLD day. So cold I wore my long silk underwear to work. Where I work inside. With considerable heat. And still. Ulla Popken boucle knit turtleneck in a sort of mahogany/coppery brown, which you might have seen here. Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans that you have seen every day of my life. Skechers sneakers.
friday
Friday was the last day of work before Christmas Break, as well as Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. Hence…the resurrection of The Creepy Christmas Dress, that you may have seen here. It’s by CowCow, a company that makes clothing in a zillion different styles and patterns in many sizes up through like 6x…maybe even higher. I wore the Old Navy fine knit black duster length cardigan over it…with my black Taryn Rose “off road” flats.
Something’s up with the formatting of the blog. Text spacing, etc., is running amuck. Forgive inconsistent spacing. That kind of thing makes me nuts!

Oh yeah, that’s most definitely a creepy Christmas dress…lol! I love the rust top under the plaid flannel because a) I love pretty much any plaid flannel, and b) I too have been having a moment with rust. xo

I think the whole world is having a moment with rust!

The creepy Christmas dress; maybe when you’re finished with it you can sell it to a wax museum? It definitely puts the Creep in Christmas 🙄
But Wednesday’s outfit is so perfect! You must have been so happy! Comfy, cute, the whole package. I bought myself a sweater in that rust color . . . while Christmas shopping. Then I was tired of shopping.

I hate in-person shopping. I had to go into Target for something specific that I needed that day…generally I shop for almost everything online. Why do they keep the stores So HOT in the wintertime? And why do they let all those other people in?

I always read your posts like 10 times to be sure I don’t forget to comment on anything that’s popped into my head while scrolling and reading. I’m so totally with you on working indoors and still bundling up. I love that poncho on you. Now I really need to hear the story of your Target vs. Aerosole leopard flats. Will there really be a story or do you expect us to just forget about that? I love your translation of ugly sweater day at work – what a cute (yeah, and a little creepy) dress and that duster looks just perfect with it. Line spacing, text abnormalities, going in to change code to make it do what you want it to do – it drives me nuts! Why can’t you just type what you want, have a huge selection of font styles and sizes and then just have it show up that way when you post it? How hard can that be to make it do that?!? I’ve finally started typing it up as a Microsoft Word document and then copying and pasting (except the images – they don’t transfer over). Then I save that because I’ve not yet been able to get the online backup working :/ Is it just me? And you?

“Now I really need to hear the story of your Target vs. Aerosole leopard flats. Will there really be a story or do you expect us to just forget about that?” I was kinda hoping we could all just forget about it. It’s kinda shameful and embarrassing 🙁 No, I was planning on telling it in an upcoming “responsible, conscious shopping” post.
Yeah, even things that are supposed to be WYSIWYG never really are! I feel like the spacing, etc., is just off for me since the most recent wordpress version upgrade. Usually I notice no real change and no difficulties, but…bleh.
Last year I had a whole back-up thing…I always write my posts directly in wordpress…so I have almost 4 years’ worth of posts just out there hangin’ in the wind. I started to get worried, seeing other people lose everything and being down for WEEKS, and thought I’LL GO BACK TO THE BEGINNING AND COPY PASTE EVERY BLOG POST INTO A WORD DOC so at least if they all disappeared off wordpress, I COULD REBUILD. Everyone was like YOU’RE AN IDIOT, JUST DO A BACKUP or something. That was before I was self-hosted and still on wordpress.com, so that was not an option (I think that was the thing. you can’t possibly expect me to remember anything from 2018). And THAT set me off down the road of going self-hosted, which was $$ and DOING STUFF I DON’T REALLY UNDERSTAND, and blah blah blah. BUT…now wordpress does auto back-ups. I think. Right? I’ll check on that, but I think it does. So no, Ruth, you are not the only one muddling along and trying to be PROACTIVE about protecting your blog (without really knowing what you’re doing, ha).
Is there any online support that could help you get the online backup working? Cuz I’m sure you never thought of that very obvious option, ha ha.

I’m so shocked you have long underwear coming from the woman who starts taking off layers at 50 degrees ha ha!! I can totally relate to that, let me just say!! That was my usual back in Denver. Of course, not much has changed here in AZ some days…
I do love the leopard shoes. Of course it’s not fair to leave the cliff hanger of the Target pair…just sayin’

I have it mainly for “walking around the city” days when we can be outside in the cold cold for hours at a time. Like last week I wore the bottoms (couldn’t find the top!) to Luminocity cuz it was cold and WINDY, and we were on an ISLAND (read, colder and windier) and I knew the line to get in was going to be LONG and SLOW. I even wore SOCKS that day. Me! But these long underwear days are very uncommon. And wearing it to WORK, even less so. But it was like 16 degrees that day, windy, I think some light snow was falling…it just seemed like The Right Thing To Do 🙂
You’ll hear the Tale of the Target Leopard Flats soon…I promise. It’s a cautionary tale full of woe and regret. It ends with DON’T BE BETTYE.
But I’m currently HAPPILY (if guiltily) wearing the NEW leopard flats as I’m waiting for Katie so we can do a little photoshoot (on this balmy day of 40 degrees) and then go to dinner.

I think we all want to hear the Target story! 🙂

It will be in tomorrow’s post (sooner than planned but everyone seemed interested!).
