Weekday Wardrobe ~ March 2-6
MONDAY
Temps were expected to go above 50 today…and the next few days will be rainy, so I wanted something a little lighter today. At this point almost all my cardigans are duster length…so I don’t wear them often in cold weather because they’re longer than all my winter coats. Not in a cute “cropped over long” way…but in an awkward “long over longer” way. So I mostly only wear them on days that I don’t need to wear a coat.
I have a coat with me…a several-year-old black coat from Old Navy that was always a poor fit – too big in the shoulders and sleeves so it would almost close around my hips and tummy. Now that it fits around my midsection, it’s really huge everywhere else. Looks like I’m wearing my father’s coat. But it’s the only coat I have that’s almost as long as my long cardigans, so…I brought it to carry around with me all day and only wear if the weather changed drastically.
I’m not a big wine person…but I do really like it over white.

TUESDAY
I think the clothing transition from winter to spring is much more challenging than summer to fall! In the fall I can just throw light layers over my summer dresses and still have bare legs. NOW I’m trying to dress lighter – both warmth-wise and visually (color?) but I still want to be cozy in the cool, windy weather. Those two things – in my closet anyway – are pretty much mutually exclusive. Today was supposed to be 55 degrees…but be raining by the afternoon. This sweater really needs an unfuzzing! It’s 5 years old and other than fuzziness, still going strong.
- Striped New Look 3/4 length sleeve top, 3x. Old. Comparable here and here.
- Grey Charlotte Russe Cardigan, 3x. Old. Comparable here and here.
- Gloria Vanderbilt Scottsdale Wash Amanda Jeans, 24w short.

WEDNESDAY
I’m pleased with this look…even though I feel a little Men in Black (and Taupe). But I love LOVE love this Universal Standard blouse via Nuuly.com. The bad news is that, while I did cancel my nuuly account, my last box of returns didn’t get to them til after my billing date…so I got billed once more. But at least I have six “new” items to show for it this month. Which is good, cuz I am so over my winter things.
Anyway, back to the blouse. It’s like the navy one I had back in January. It’s Cupro. Which is the stuff dreams are made of. More technically, it’s a “regenerated cellulose” fabric made from cotton waste. It’s in the same family of fabrics as rayon, viscose, Tencel, Modal, and Lyocell, which are all made from plant-based materials that are chemically processed to produce a smooth fabric. In plain English, it feels like substantial washed silk. It’s a dream. Black silk blouse has been on my wish list for awhile…but a Cupro one might be better. I just have to investigate how it handles hot weather. Oh, AND it’s a little stretchy.
- Universal Standard Black Kennedy Cupro Shirt, XL (comes in black and navy)
- Old Navy Taupe Cardigan, 2x. No longer available. Comparable here and here.
- Charlotte Russe Black Refuge Jeans, 24 short. No longer available.
- Me Too Taupe Cairo Slip-On Loafers
THURSDAY
It’s gonna rain It’s not gonna rain It’s gonna rain It’s not gonna rain HOW’S A GIRL SUPPOSED TO GET DRESSED IN THE MORNING??? Not to mention, this pre-spring weather is stressing me out, wardrobe wise. I’m seeing that spring (and pre-spring) is my least prepared-for season. Summer: wear as little as possible, check. Winter: wear as much as possible, check. Fall: put some winter things over summer things, check. But putting winter things over summer things doesn’t work for this season/pre-season right now. It’s colder now than it is in the fall! The colors are all different! Gah! This outfit looks fine, but I was cold all day.
- Loft Mixed Media Sage Cap Sleeve Top, 24/26. No longer available. Comparable here and here.
- Old Navy Palomino (uhm, cream) Fine Knit Cardigan, 2x. No longer available (which is a shame). Comparable here and here.
- Old Navy White Cropped Jeans, 24 short
- Kelly&Katie Brown Loafers
FRIDAY
Friday morning panic. WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR? I always forget I have these navy J Crew pants. They go on a hanger and all my jeans are folded on a shelf so when I’m looking through jeans I don’t think of them. It’s nice to have some non-jean pants. They’re always on my list but so hard to find to fit. To find that fit? How to speak?
Anyway. The camel turtleneck was sort of overkill for the day’s temp, but. I didn’t want to wear the chestnut Ava&Viv top with them again cuz I’ve done that combo so many times. Anyway, it’s Friday. Next week looks like highs in the low 50s all next week so maybe this will be a little less challenging. Fingers crossed.
- Anthropologie Camel Turtleneck, 2x. No longer available. Comparable here (in plus and straight sizes).
- Navy J. Crew Ankle Pants, 24. In sizes 00 (what the heck is a DOUBLE zero??) through 24, in classic, tall and petite…and many colors.
- Aerosoles Betunia Leopard Flats
Have a good weekend, y’all!

I always laugh when I freak out about the weather and what to wear. Because most of the time I’m inside anyways. Now I just look at my app once, and try not to really worry about it. (Now ask me if that works…haha)

PS…LOVE the wine and white pairing!!

I think it’s always difficult to try and go from winter to spring. Same problem here – though I’m always cold so I’m usually a little behind with the changes.
I love the black outfit (looks black on my computer) and gray cardigan – especially the cardigan. I’m in love with the long sweaters.
