Work from Home Wardrobe ~ June 22-26
Monday
My hair is having A Moment. A BAD Moment. Too long without a trim + humid days = Rebellious Bangs. And I’m just dealing with it now while I don’t need to make myself presentable for public consumption…but starting next week I’ll be in the office 2-3 full days a week WITH OTHER HUMANS, so I will need to do something.
I feel like I went somewhere that afternoon but I can’t remember where. But I was au casual in self-cropped Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, laceless Keds, and Lane Bryant swing top.
tuesday
Election Day! At the polling place the woman that gave me my ballot sheet liked my dress. Said she could never find easy dresses like this. But now that the trains were running again (were they ever not running?) she could go into the city and find some just like this (I didn’t have the heart to tell her it took me two years to find this dress!) to send to her sister down in Alabama. We had quite the conversation.
I am quite pleased at how nicely my taupe bag goes with all my light-colored summer things.
Junarose dress, Keds, some mumblemumble brand taupe bag from DSW.
wednesday
It was a dual-doctor-day. Back to Sloan Kettering for follow-up blood work after my scan a couple weeks (a month?) back…and then to a walk-in medical care center to get a Covid-19 test that is required for me to return to work. I was dreading it ALL DAY. Everyone I’ve spoken to has told the WORST stories about the nasal swab and I was a nervous wreck by the time I was walking in. But miracle of miracles, the place I went used a throat swab instead of the nasal one and it was NOTHING. I practically SKIPPED out of there afterward, feeling I had won the Coronavirus Test Lottery! I wore another “easy” Junarose dress to help me make it through my arduous afternoon.
thursday
Oops. I went to a friend’s for dinner and I should have asked her to take my picture but it’s awkward to ask someone who doesn’t get the whole blogging thing. I wore my other Junarose dress. You know the one. This week was a Junarose trifecta.
friday
I just threw on clothes at the end of the day to run up to the post office. I found all my linen pants from last year last week (does that sentence make sense?? I bought them last year…I found them last week) and ran them all through a warm wash and the dryer (I NEVER warm water wash + dryer my clothes) in hopes that they would shrink. I didn’t try the other ones on yet but these are a big fail. I’ve got them pulled all the way up to my bra and have to pooch my stomach out so they don’t slip down and put the crotch around my knees. So they’re really not practical for wearing to a PLACE. And they’re not that comfortable for just wearing around the house. So I think they’re gonna go back in the wash and then to the Poshmark pile. I really have to get working on that pile so I can get the summer things listed during the summer!
Black Daily Ritual tee from Amazon (size 4x), olive linen pants from some Nordstrom brand last year, and million-year-old Mephisto slides.
So this was the last full week of Work From Home Wardrobe…next week I’ll begin segueing back to regular Workday Wardrobe. Maybe. I feel this might be too boring for summer. I mostly wear dresses, not layers, I don’t know how interesting that is, week after week. I haven’t bought anything new in what seems like ages (you think THIS is boring, wait til What I Bought This Month for June! Spoiler alert: 2 books and a lipstick) and I’m just wearing the same handful of things week after week. Let me know what you think.

I was thinking of buying a pair of long linen pants as we have very hot summers here and they would make a nice change from capri pants. The pair you’re wearing look good, are they cool to wear? Thanks for your help.

I love LOVE a loose-fitting linen pant in the summer. Not “falling off” loose, but wide-legged looses. I think linen has to be the coolest pants to wear.
Iris
I LOVE that first outfit. The top looks comfortable and the color is GREAT. The dresses all look comfty too. Sorry about your linen pants. Hope your ‘back to work in the world’ goes okay.

Stressing about “back to work in the world.” And not covid-related, but just being BACK AMONGST THE PEOPLE. THE MANY MANY PEOPLE.
So many people.
Marceline Miller
Yes, dresses! They’re my favorite thing to wear all year around, so I always like to see
bettyewp
Well, you’re going to be seeing them a lot! Since I can’t get my summer pants situation sorted out.

Too bad those linen pants don’t work, because in the picture they look really cute. Good luck going back to work next week. I hope they are taking smart precautions to keep everyone safe. Your hydrangeas look beautiful. I never thought to pot them, which makes perfect sense, since mine don’t do well when I put them in the ground. Enjoy your weekend!
bettyewp
Yeah, the picture looked fine. But as soon as I took a breath, woops, there go my pants!
Work is being HIGHLY cautious…well, short of just letting us continue to work from home.
Hydrangeas are Very Thirsty Creatures. As long as I manage to water every other day, the large pot works well.

Yellow…..I see yellow!!!

You’re welcome? Ha ha 🙂

Isn’t it funny that when you want something to shrink no matter how hard you try, it won’t. But when you don’t want something to shrink, it does. In the most inconvenient way.
bettyewp
The irony is not lost on me. Most things I am SO CAREFUL with. Cold water, delicate wash, no dryer…and still things sometimes shrink. I’ve had things come back from the dry cleaner smaller/shorter! (shaking fist at sky)

Thankful you hit the Covid test lottery. My 93 year old mom has been tested 3-4 times now. She never complains! I am thinking she must be hitting the lottery over and over again, too. Thank goodness!
Really like that navy top with the olive pants. I forget about putting navy and green together until I see it on someone else. It reminds me of the colors of a sorority I really liked in college.
And that yellow just makes you shine! Beautiful on you. Glad your test was negative, BTW.
bettyewp
Oh, I didn’t get the results yet. Wait, are you talking about the covid test…or the bloodwork?

Your dresses are so cute. I like the ease of one and done but don’t wear them near enough.

Your dresses are so cute. I like the ease of one and done but don’t wear them near enough. But I always struggle with footwear.

FOOTWEAR!!! ARGH!!! Always a problem, ALWAYS!
Sarah
I am incredibly impressed with your wardrobe while at home. Even though you have been out some. My wardrobe is Old Navy leggings every day. I switch up the top half because I got a new job and we zoom all meetings. But it’s not good around here, wardrobe-wise. I’m glad I checked in with you. I’m inspired to try again. xx
bettyewp
I will admit that if there was no Zoom and I wasn’t trying to take an outfit pic every day, I’d be in my nightgown 4 days out of 5 🙂
Now that I’ll be going into the office 2-3 full days a week and there will be other people, I’ll start making a little more effort. Plus, the ac is very cool in the office so some light layering will return, which will help mix up outfits a fit.
New job??
Sarah
Yes! A pandemic job, I’ve never met the people in person or stepped foot in the building. Totally crazy! But it’s been great and I’m grateful.
bettyewp
OOh, a pandemic job! I’ve been looking at all the new remote jobs listed everywhere. There’s definitely been an increase.
Sarah
Ah! Yes. My new job is not pandemic-related just happened to all unfold – interviewing, on-boarding, etc. during the pandemic. 🙂 that’s what I meant. xx
