California June 10-July 1, 2026

I’ll keep this as brief a catch-up as possible…especially cuz I hardly did anything worth mentioning.

The main feature in my life these days seems to be that whatever can go wrong, will. One thing after another between my eyes, some legal stuff I’m trying to sort out, glasses (sort of a separate issue than eyes), some insurance charges I’m trying to dispute, a suspected fraudulent charge on my credit card, and now, my brand new laptop is going all kinds of crazy.

But in between all that – I did have another nice, three-week visit in CA at my niece’s – animal sitting for them again when they went away. The weather was still pleasant and they had a new car I got to drive. A self-driving car! THAT was fun (if not a tad scary). It’s very strange to sit behind the wheel, hands in my lap and let Star just take me where I told her to go. She did have a few moments, especially with parking, where she made poor decisions…but you just take the wheel and take control. It was nice not having to worry about following GPS directions to get everywhere.

Always make sure to have some good Mexican when I’m in LA

We went to the Museum of…moving pictures or something. I forget the exact name.

The Jaws exhibit was entertaining.

There was a Marilyn Monroe exhibit with a lot of her clothing from films.

People are still throwing my eyes at the wall to see what will stick.

Favorite Japanese restaurant. You’d think I could remember the name of it, ha ha.

It was my niece’s birthday.

We dogsat a new friend. Potato.

I got to spend some time with my aunt (my mother’s sister). She’s 95 and I think always afraid “this” is the last time we’ll see one another.

I had a hankering for a wedge salad with bleu cheese.

I only saw the BTS Oreos the day before I was leaving CA and did not want One More Thing in my suitcase, so I passed.

Florida July 2-13, 2026

And I’m back in Tampa with Katie…my final stop before leaving the US again. Again, the time was mostly spent preparing for travel and going to different doctors. Eye and general. I’m sad to be leaving her 🙁

I got a new camera, thinking it would be lighter to carry around the world. HA HA HA HA HA NO. PLUS, trying to learn a whole new system with eyes that aren’t eyeing – not so smooth.

Florida does have good clouds.

Packing. AGAIN. Was determined to downsize to just Mama Bear and Baby Bear. Which I did, but it’s TIGHT. And I’m still overweight for the domestic Asian airlines, which is stressful Every Single Time.

And then I left.
