Week in Review: Week 134
Week. Busy. Whew.
Monday was our big annual golf fundraiser. It was beautiful weather but MAN were there a lot of hills! I’m the photographer so I walked up hill and down dale getting pictures.
Me in my high fashion golf shirt. And sweating. Shocker. With foofy hair.
The next morning I had my one-year scan. I drank the kool-aid and they shot the stuff in me that makes me feel like I’m peeing myself. Good times. I go to the dr tomorrow for the results.
A friend and I decided to walk “together” in the mornings before work by meeting virtually through text. Three mornings a week. We were doing well til it started raining mid-week and never stopped. I got a lot of other walking in between work events and going to Governor’s Island on Saturday.
I didn’t even realize there was a tennis club right around the block from me! The things you see on foot.
Across-the-street one-eyed-kitty.
I did my post-summer closet cleanout. I have to yet to go through fall things and start adding some into my wardrobe. Maybe this week. I will never have one of those lovely monochromatic closets. I love color and pattern too much.
Sigh. So lovely.
Friday night was our Adventureland event for kids and adults with disabilities. More walking and picture taking.
Saturday we went to Governor’s Island, which is a little island off lower Manhattan that you get to by ferry. On the way to the ferry we walked down this fun cobblestone street that was filled with dining tables for the restaurants located on either side of the street. I looked forward all day to coming back there for dinner.
Guardian.
Taco puns never get old.
We came for the art.
Can you guess what these are?
The installation by Jacob Hashimoto I really wanted to see.
This room was lined in undulating layers made up of paper cones from the pages of old books. How do people think of this stuff??
This sculpture made me think of the song Smiling Faces by The Undisputed Truth.
Smiling faces sometimes pretend to be your friend…Smiling faces show no traces of the evil that lurks within (can you dig it?).
Climate change is a thing.
Looking back at Manhattan from Governor’s Island.
Sunsetty.
Finally made it back for dinner just before we perished (no lie).
And now, quite literally, is my day of rest. Just catching up on laundry, blogging, dishwashing and movie watching. Tomorrow it starts all over again.
How was your week??
PS: if, like me, you’re still humming the song Smiling Faces…You’re Welcome.
MJ
Stone Street! I used to go there for lunch and happy hour sometimes when I worked downtown.
In all my time working in the building next to the Staten Island ferry terminal and watching the Governor’s Island ferries come and go, I never made it there… it’s on my list. I live vicariously through you 😉
PS-I could never have that white beige blah closet. I’m with you… I need color on my life!

It would be fun to take (or rent) bikes there, it’s a lot of walking. We didn’t even get over to the greenway park area, but I was exhausted!
Jodie
You’re lucky I don’t know that song, because once one starts…it’s an all day thing!!
You captured the area so perfectly…that sunset…OMG!!
We feel the same way about exploring our area now that we take photos for the blog. We have found some of the most interesting walls and areas just by being nosy!!
XOXO

I’m STILL singing Smiling Faces! You’ve really never heard that song? I want to say it was mid-70s.

Hit reply too soon! Yeah I’m always the one trying to get in doors and gates to go places I probably shouldn’t, but…
Nancy
I wish you luck tomorrow!
Fashion Schlub
Thanks, Nancy. Don’t know why I’m feeling anxious this time, I’m usually confident that everything is fine.

fun! How was your dinner? I like watching your arting and your walks, even if it’s for work! Monochromatic wardrobe would get really boring really fast. It just looks good in pics but in real life the person with that wardrobe is a bit “off”! Enjoy your Monday! Somehow!

Dinner was excellent – we were RAVENOUS after walking over 3 miles and having no lunch. Thank goodness for the pretzel on our way over! It was Irish/NY pub food, everything was good.
Iris
Enjoyed the tour – I have to live vicariously through you getting out and seeing things 🙂 Praying for a good report from the doctor.

Thanks, Iris. I’m feeling a teeny bit anxious about it. Usually it’s no big deal to me, but. We’ll see!
Debbie from Illinois
Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventures with us. Sending you good thoughts and prayers for your results. ♥️♥️♥️

Thanks, Debbie. All is well. I go back in 6 months. April Fool’s Day. Ha ha.
Sarah
So glad to hear all is well!

You do the best weekend things! That monochromatic closet IS beautiful…but the clothes options are a bit boring! Your patterns are a lot more fun.

I do love getting away from my little portion of the world on the weekends. NEED is probably a better word. I need that escape from familiar things. Other people get claustrophobic in elevators, I get claustrophobic in the COUNTY.
It looks like you had a beautiful beach weekend yourself! Did you drag that big hunk’a driftwood home??
Chris
You are so cool! Your weekend adventures, artsy stuff, great photography, terrific writing with a sense of humor…I can dig it! Really enjoy your blog!! Hoping you get nothing but great news.

ALL GOOD NEWS. Phew. I never felt nervous about it before, so I’m very relieved. And So Glad you’re enjoying the blog!
