Run to Catch Up With the Sun
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it’s sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you’re older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death. ~ Pink Floyd, “Time”
Old Navy Super-Long Open-Front Sweater: Plus Size in camel, black and heather grey / Straight Size in heather green, camel, black and heather grey / Striped tee: This was from New Look, no longer available but Old Navy has a similar stripe in plus and straight size. / Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans in Plus and Straight and Petite sizes.
Not to be grim, but….I don’t know what’s happening with time lately. I know it seems to go faster as we get older…but lately I feel like I literally don’t have enough time in the day! I work, I do my blog work, I go out with friends usually one evening a week and one weekend day. I’m not one to make housework a priority (no secret there), so THAT’S certainly not taking up much (if any!) of my time. I’m getting my groceries delivered these days. I barely cook anymore. I don’t have a dog that I go on outings with. I’m hardly reading, I do one quick skim of Facebook daily (not like the hours of the past) and Instagram is mostly while I’m waiting for other things to happen – computer to load, in the drive-thru, in line at bank, etc. TV is rarely on more than an hour a day. I’m tired very early in the evening and usually in bed at 9:30, asleep by 10.
And yet I have a To Do list a mile long that I never seem to have time to make headway on. What IS that?
I feel like I hear the same from my friends, as well. “Not enough time in the day.”
I actually cancelled my weekend outing day last week because I was just so exhausted and I thought maybe a day of catching up on things around the house might feel better in the long run than a day of fun. Not sure if I was right or wrong.
The one area where I *do* feel a little in control, is my wardrobe. On the daily I’m not spending time stressing about what to wear and I’m grateful for that. I don’t have so many options that making decisions is overly time-consuming. Sure, I love “window shopping” (aka internet browsing) and there is ALWAYS another sweater/blouse/dress/bag to fall in love with and covet. But I actually think I feel better with fewer clothing items.
Now if I could just get my dish/artwork/lamp/chair/book collections to behave.
Do any of you have tips you use for managing your time?

Great outfit!

Thanks! I actually did a little contest on Instagram to see if people preferred black and white stripes w the camel cardi…or black and white polka dots. Stripes won!

Wish I could help you with time. Mine goes about as fast. I think we try to cram too much in. I’m working on that.
LOVE the outfit (even though I voted for polka dots). I especially like the sweater. I think the entire combination is very slimming on you – and I love the photos.
Rest more!!

I finally got to shoot in the spot I wanted to shoot last week’s outfit in. I think this outfit is better there anyway, as the location had so many rich tones on its own with the wine front and fabric panels in the alleyway w big potted flowers. This outfit, more neutral, didn’t compete with that as the black and wine paisley dress probably would have. So for once I’m going to say IT ALL WORKED OUT IN THE END.

It’s a fabulous outfit for fall, Bettye!!
As for time management….I’m at a loss. And I’m even retired. Maybe there’s more and more we want to do as we get older, so we feel like we can’t get it all in??
Gone are those days that as a kid I used to say, “mom, I’m bored”….can you even imagine? LOL!
XOXO

Yeah, left to my own devices I am NEVER bored. Even when I’m not technically ‘doing something,” I’ve always got a million things in my head, I’m making notes and lists in my phone or listening to a podcast or audio book or just happily staring out the window at branches swaying or the lawn bunny snuffling out goodies in the grass. Or talking to myself, ha ha, that’s a biggie that keeps me highly entertained 🙂

This is one time I can say, thank God I don’t have a list! I used to make them, and ignore them. Now, I just ignore them. Like my laundry, and my housework. I drive a bus, hence my life runs on a schedule. One of the reasons I am totally averse to working in an office, is that I was always rushed, and I never had any time to think. So I got my CDL, and went and drove a bus. Yep, I make less money, but I am good at it.
Loving your fall outfit Bettye, which reminds me that I need to pick up my white jeans from the tailors. I will put that on the list.

🙂
I kinda like the idea of driving a bus. Someday. What’s involved with getting your CDL license?

Love your outfit. The camel cardi is calling to me. Lol.
In terms of time and how it passes, I certainly feel you. Days do feel shorter and shorter and scheduling is difficult. That said I feel like I am able to complete most things that are truly important to me. Happy fall season!
❤️❤️❤️
