Month in Review: October 2018
October: Glad she’s over. I made a rhyme. Let’s just jump right in.
Top 3 Blog Posts
#1 Fall Wardrobe Wish List: Part 2. Where I took you along window-shopping with me. I’m still coveting this scarf. (Hey, Santa!)
#2 Fall is for Being Bold. The one where I wore something BRIGHT!
#3 Fall Florals & Fabulous Friday Link-Up. The one where I co-hosted a link-up with Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots and a met a gazillion new people! That was fun!
Top 3 Favorite Blogger Outfits
#1 I’ve been following Merrick of Merrick’s Art for ages and love her easy, timeless, modern style. And she sews! She has tons of sewing tutorials that I like to look at and go, yep, yep…just like watching yoga videos. Yep, that looks great. Maybe someday I’ll actually try one! But this outfit here is like the quintessential perfect everyday fall outfit to me. Black and white stripes, check…warm spicy long cardigan, check…easy skinny jeans, check…darling cinnamon slides, check check.
#2 Keiko Lynn is like…magical beautiful. I first came across her makeup tutorials and I was transfixed…and I’m not even a make-up person! If you’re like me here are some “beginner” makeup tutorials she’s posted. But this outfit here…it has the feel of my favorite summer dress…but it’s so light-heartedly autumnal. And with this (again) spicy cardigan…it’s like depression-era beauty to me. I don’t know how to explain that, but I sometimes see outfits and that’s just what comes to mind. It’s like “simpler time” beauty. Beauty without trying. Innocent. But lovely.
#3 And last but not least (these are not in any particular order), is Debbie from Gracefully Styled: An Over 50 Fashion & Style Blog. I’ve only recently discovered her blog and have enjoyed her modern, classic style. She’s wearing a favorite color combo of mine, grey and white. And I love the wine accent color in the bag.
Hope you enjoyed this month’s favorite outfits!
Guess Who’s Back?
Guess who made Gwynnie Bee’s monthly spotlight again in October?? Me!
Book Reviews
With the whirlwind time-suck that my life has turned into, I only managed to read one book this month, but it was a good one and I highly recommend!
- The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst. It started out sweet, sad, lovely and quirky, all my favorite things. Then just past the mid-point it got seriously disturbing and I considered not finishing it. But I did. I had to do. The premise is a man comes home to find his wife has died from falling from their apple tree. In his grief and feeling there was some mystery surrounding her death, he sets out to teach their dog to talk, since she was the only one there when it happened. That’s all I’ll say.
October Re-Cap
October is…a blur. I literally feel like days were shorter than 24 hours. I went to a self-hosted blog, it was not a smooth process and I’m still figuring things out. I’ve been back up to an over the top anxiety level, which is not good. My car passed inspection, which is good. I’m still working out my fall wardrobe and I bought a couple new things this month and am still deciding what stays and what goes. I did some organizing around the apartment, will share with you soon.
Here’s my October 1 Second Every day video…these are really fun to do, guys. It’s a free app, fun to watch, easily shareable, all the good things, blah blah blah.
And, LAST CALL for photos or links for tomorrow’s Fogless Blog reader post…get to me by 9pm tonight and I can get them in -> fashion_schlub@yahoo.com
And October…is a wrap!

Thanks, Carol. That was just luck, I was like OOH! Take my picture in front of the bathroom! My friend was like, uhm, okay?? But it turned out great 🙂

Don’t even get me started on how fast time is flying by!

I love your monthly reviews and yay for Gwinnie Bee highlighting you. It is a cute top. The premise of the novel sounds really good but I don’t know if I want to read disturbing, especially with an animal involved. I hope you have a wonderful relaxing, interesting, productive, fun, social, quiet, delicious weekend!
bettyewp
Yeah, the animal part was what almost stopped me. I had to give myself a pep talk: “It’s not REAL, it’s Just a Story!”
I wish that’s how this weekend was looking, but I’m working tomorrow – our last big event of the year. It’s a long day and events are very hard on me. We’ll see how I feel Sunday, if I’m up to going out. Fingers crossed.
But I hope YOU have a fun weekend!
