Week in Review: Week 142
Week in Review: Week 142 – it rhymes!
This was a very full week! I only worked Monday and Tuesday, but they were busy days with some things coming up like Giving Tuesday, our holiday appeal, newsletter and holiday card. And getting ready to fly to my sister’s in South Carolina for Thanksgiving. Washing, packing, getting Janey sorted out, getting myself to the airport, etc. Lots of moving parts this week. But after all the rushing around and getting ready…on Wednesday morning…
My sister and brother-in-law and their darling Corgi Taffy live on Cat Island in Beaufort, South Carolina. Their house is right on this marshy waterway and it’s so lovely and calming to sit out on their dock and watch the water gliding by and sea birds flying above. I’m told there are alligators but I have never seen one.
With no planning, me, my sister, niece and great niece all dressed in stripes that first morning! The stripey thing is genetic!
Their house is a traditional low country style, with high ceilings, huge windows and welcoming front porch.
Just a nice little tabletop vignette. My sister was an interior decorator so her home is really lovely.
Taffy kept close watch on all the comings and goings.
My Katie arrived late Wednesday night from Florida, and Annabelle took to her immediately. Snapchat filters were a big hit!
Almost dinnertime!
Happy Thanksgiving!
The weather was so mild, it was nice to have some outdoor time after the big cooking day.
Katie and I escaped for a little adventure on Friday, just the two of us. It was so good to have some time with her – I haven’t seen her since June!
We did a little photo shoot here, so you’ll see more of it this week in another post.
After lunch in town we were tantalized by this but I was not feeling well and it was raining so we just headed home.
Heading home Saturday.
Up above the world so high…
Who’s a good flyer?? Who’s a good flyer??
And then I was home! Janey is very glad to have me back, she’s my meowy little shadow. Today was unpacking and laundry and erranding. Wish I had another day just to rest, but.
One month til Christmas, can you believe it?? Katie confirmed she will not be coming home for the holiday. Sadface. She’s moving to San Diego in less than two weeks so has a lot going on including moving expenses. Maybe Santa will make some Christmas magic for us.
Oh yeah, if you want to contribute a photo or link to the December Fogless Blog, send it to me by this Wednesday, November 28.
Anyway, hope you all had a nice holiday….tomorrow is back to normal life for a bit. Four weeks til vacation. Can I make it??

Oh my, what a lovely place to live – one would never get tired of those views. So glad you had a nice Thanksgiving with family. I did too, but very few pictures of mine. You’re smarter than me π

Isn’t it pretty?? So serene on the marshy water.
Stop, I’m not smarter than you, maybe just more visual-centric. Like you said on your blog today how you’re noticing more things to take pictures of, now that you’re blogging…I’ve been taking pictures for a long long time so am very mindful of noticing things that are worth photographing. You’ll start seeing more and more…and then noticing the light. It KILLS me when there is beautiful light and I can’t stop to get a picture of something, ANYTHING.

How alike you and your niece are!! Lovely pictures.

Oh gosh, you think? I’ve had people say that but I’ve never seen it. She has such a lovely, fine bone structure. And I just don’t. Ha. It’s okay. I’m happy to have a lovely niece π

You can make it! I know you can! That was a lovely photo diary of your trip. Your daughter is so beautiful (as you know) and photogenic (like her mama). When I put together travel posts I always think “this isn’t interesting” with my flower pics and sunset photos but then I remember how much I always enjoy seeing other blogger’s photos like these. I love the photo with the arches and branch in the foreground. I can’t wait to see it in a fashion shoot! I’m glad you had a wonderful holiday and another good one coming up!

I LOVE flower pics and sunset photos! I love all the pretty things no matter where they are π

Are you a fundraiser, Bettye? I am. Spent last week (till 5pm on Wednesday) banging out grants and doing many of the same things you did until the bitter end. Back to the office tomorrow with hopes of stacks of appeal replies waiting for me.
I tried something new (thanks, Sara Moulton for your tv tips) and spatchcocked my turkey (the first of two) and it was fabulous! And done so quickly. Roasted my second (frozen on Thanksgiving) turkey last night and made a beautiful stock. Soup tonight…yum.
Thank you for sharing the lovely photos of family, smiles, cooking, gorgeous surroundings, etc… Hoping for your Christmas magic with family.

I work on the fundraising team at a nonprofit that provides services to children, adults and families touched by autism. I don’t do grants, though. I work on special events and online fundraising, marketing, social media and communications. For what sort of agency do you work? Hope you had bunches of commitments when you went into work today!
I’ve heard of spatchcocked turkey, and who doesn’t love to say SPATCHCOCK but I really have no idea what it is.
Hope you had a nice holiday, Judi xoxo

I work for three Catholic elementary schools in Westchester County, and volunteer my services for my alma mater in Throggs Neck. I am the development department for these schools since educators/administrators find development so daunting.
I do the same things that you do, and am looking forward to an annual gala in March. Trying out some new tactics to increase the success of the event.
Have a great week!

Always looking for ways to improve our events!

The stripes made me laugh. You all
looked great! Your photos are always so clear and sharp. What do you shoot with? Looks like a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Most of my Week in Review photos are just just iphone shots. Cell phone camera are just getting better and better. When I’m being more serious about taking pictures, like for the blog, I’m using my Canon Rebel T4i, but I have a couple nicer lenses that help make nicer photos.
Hope you had a nice holiday as well!

I can’t believe you didn’t plan that striped top with all of you?? That’s hilarious!!
I love you and I love your blog Bettye. But I am head over heels with your photography. Those pumpkins on the porch?? Just magazine worthy. Have you thought of selling them or is that a pain?? Because OMG…they are fabulous.
Can I send in a photo of all of us for the Fogless??
XOXO

Definitely did not plan stripe-wearing. Of course *I* was wearing stripes…and I was going to say to my niece, TWINNING, LET’S GET A PICTURE…when I realized the baby and my sister were striping also! I LOVE that spur-of-the-moment picture!
Thanks for the kind words about my photography. I list some photos for sale on various sites. Nothing has ever sold. While it’s always nice to have a couple extra bucks, I really don’t care about selling it. *I* enjoy my photos, that’s what really matters to me.
Of COURSE you can send in a pic of all of you for FB! The more the merrier!

What a fantastic place to live! Wow, that must feel very relaxing. And that turkey, oh my…..looks fantastic!
bettyewp
Itβs very serene and lovely and perfect for them. I still like more activity going on around me, but itβs a nice place to visit.
What is it like where you are?

Thanks for sharing your lovely Thanksgiving with us.
I survived hosting our big group of 37 family members. Whew!
bettyewp
I still can’t imagine 37 PEOPLE FOR THANKSGIVING! How much FOOD you must have had! The logistics of such a thing just sound overwhelming! Will you do the same for Christmas?

Hellooooo! Your daughter is beautiful and what wonderful photos she took of you!
Bestest wishes from the rainy uk

Thanks, Ashley! Yeah, she picked up photography way quicker than I did. Her generation seems to pick up EVERYTHING quicker than we did! Well, than *I* did, ha π Thanks for stopping by!
