Month in Review: November 2018
November finally brought some cold weather to Long Island, and the final wardrobe switchover from fall to winter is complete. I’m still searching for Just the Right Cognac Booties, but. I bought a pair from Vionic and they cut too low, straight and tight across the front of my shin – plus, they sent me two right feet! Then I bought a pair of Me, Too booties from DSW, and while comfortable, they were a very washed out, yellowed version of cognac (aka not cognac at all). So they’ve both been returned and the search continues! This should not be so hard!!!

Top 3 Favorite Blogger Outfits
#1 Sharon Sinclair-Williams of Best Before End Date*, a blog I just discovered recently and am LOVING. Come on – this outfit. Those ruffled slacks and leopard print sneakers??? This ATTITUDE. Does she look like a cool boss chick, or what?? A picture like this makes me want to TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!! I actually want to Go Into a Store and try on All The Things! All the things I would normally never try. Let’s see if I can hold onto that feeling long enough to do something about it!
*Please check out the link to see the outfit – I didn’t get photo permission, I’m sure it’s just because I asked so late, I’ve been running behind for the past two weeks because of traveling! And if I hear from her, I’ll be sure to get the photo in here.
#2 Ashley of Lazy Daisy Jones. Okay. These COLORS. She’s Got All The Fall on! Something about that golden yellow color just sets my heart ablaze. And with those shiny red patent boots and wine gloves?? ALL. THE. FALL. And that fuzzy coat! It looks so SOFT!!! I want to pet it. And that lil dog?? All nonchalant? He’s like, “Oh, photoshoots?? Yeah, I do them all the time.” I want to sit next to her on that bench and have a chat about her cute dog and when she’s not looking sneak in a little pet of the coat. Yep. She wins fall. And her little dog, too.
#3 I came across Daenel of Living Outside the Stacks via someone’s link-up, and I saw this picture and was like HEY. I JUST BOUGHT THAT DRESS. I love that dress. I’m so about the warm spicy fall colors this year and this dress is like delicate fall. Sadly, the dress was awful on me, ha. Super tight through my midsection and way too long. But it’s so gentle and lovely on Daenel. The gently ruched ruffle at the neck with the little tie and the graceful way the skirt falls is so…feminine. I love how she’s styled it with black tights and cognac sandals…and the big modern earrings. She is part of a group of bloggers who do a project called Style Imitating Art, in which they draw their outfit inspiration from works of art. Such a cool idea! Be sure to visit her page and see what this week’s inspiration was!
Hope you enjoyed this month’s favorite outfits!
Book Reviews
Last month I read and highly recommended The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst. This month I read another book by the same author, and…nope.
- Harmony by Carolyn Parkhurst. It wasn’t awful. It was readable. I didn’t feel tempted to stop reading. But I kept waiting for THE THING that was Just About to Happen…hints were dropped, I feel like there was foreshadowing, you’d read and go OOH OOH, He’s Gonna _________ but he never did, nothing ever really came to fruition and it just ended. I give it a solid meh.
2. Speaking of books…I noticed I’ve had this one on my Amazon wish-list since 2003. Ha ha!
November Re-Cap
November flew by. Shocker. I say that every month.
Here’s my November 1 Second Everyday video…these are really fun to do, guys. It’s a free app, fun to watch, easily shareable, all the good things, blah blah blah. I’d love to see yours if you do one! And I can’t wait til the end of December when I’ll “mash up” (that’s what they call it) all of 2018.
No Fogless Bloggers 🙁
And…onto December!!!

I actually laughed at your book on your wishlist!! Hilarious!!
And I love that yellow coat of Ashley’s! In fact, my stepmom has a teddy bear coat only in grey that she’ll be wearing next week! It’s so perfect for the cold weather…not that I need one, but just sayin’!
Good luck with those cognac booties. I always have much better luck when I go shopping with nothing in mind. When I have something I want…I can NEVER find it!!

I laughed when I saw it, too.
I bought a teddy bear coat last year, cream-colored, with these giant lapels, and I felt like a 70s pimp. It went back. But I’m looking at one now in a chestnut brown and am really digging it.

I love these one second a day things. I feel like I’d like to do it but then I always forget about it. I like your alternative to fogless blog this month of introducing us to new bloggers. Two I already knew about and love but didn’t know about Lazy Daisy. Very funny about your desire to pet her coat! And did you really have that book in your amazon cart since 2003? OMG that has me rolling around laughing this morning!

I forget a lot of days, too, but you can go back and fill in previous days…and some days when I have nothing at all, I’ll grab a pic of my great-niece Annabelle cuz she’s always cute to look at 🙂 Every month I say I’m gonna do better about getting something GOOD every day…and try to get more video cuz that’s just more fun to watch, but…LIFE.
I really did have that book on my Amazon “non-fiction” wish list. I didn’t even know I’d had a WISHLIST that long, let alone a book about procrastinating!

Great November recap! I love your video too! How fun! One of the things I love most about blogging is that it is actually a journal and you can go back over time and revisit moments in time. Have a great weekend!
Peace!

The 1SE videos are SO fun! I love watching other people’s, even people I don’t know (you can find them on the 1SE website/app and on youtube). They always inspire me to do more/better.
Yes, it’s fun to look back at all our social media and see “the past.” I forget so many things, it’s nice to have the reminders.

I read Harmony and had the exact same thought. I kept waiting and waiting… And, really, there was so much potential for a real thriller. I was disappointed. LOL at you having a book about procrastination on your list.
That yellow coat is super pretty. I love bright colors.
Thank you for including me on your list of faves. I appreciate it.

Thankyou so much for including me in your November round up post, Bettye. I love your style of writing and the fact that you referred to me as a cool boss chick!! Friend from afar for ever!!
Apologies that I didn’t get to you before your deadline but please use the photo.
