Week in Review: Week 143
Seriously, you guys, I did NOTHING this week. I worked all day, I came home and worked some more. Friday night I had dinner with friends at IHOP. That was my big (and only!) outing of the week.
Uhm, one day Janey jumped into the tub. That was a big day.
I went to Target for hangers (don’t judge).
I did snap one OOTD photo.
And I managed to do another What I Wore This Week video for YouTube…cuz even when I don’t really DO anything, I still have to wear clothes.
Yep. That was last week. And since I really don’t have much of my own stuff to share, I thought I’d share some things of interest I’ve found around on the web.
- I came across this blogger last week and think she is just so darling. Her photographs are lovely, and she has such interesting interests. When I Grow Up: A Style and Creative Living Blog.
- This post by Sharing a Journey really resonated with me. She was feeling unfocused, stressed and anxious, so had “brain mapping” done. And while she didn’t do the expensive treatment the doctor recommended, she did come up with some tips that have helped her stay on track – I’m going to give some of them a try.
- If it’s not the holiday season for you without a fire in the fireplace.
- I don’t know how authentic this story is, but it sure is cute!
- I love book lists – here’s the New York Times 10 Best Books of 2018. Educated, The Great Believers and The Perfect Nanny are already on my list.
And oh yeah, Christmas Movie Watching Season has officially begun, and right now for me, the sappier the better. I want a formulaic plot that I can count on and a happy ending. With some tears. On December 1 I watched The Christmas Inheritance on Netflix. It ticked all the boxes.
And that’s all, folks. I’m already anticipating next week to be a little more interesting!

I didn’t do much either. It was almost strange to be outside…..that’s bad!

Yeah, just today I MADE myself take a little detour on my way home from work to just SEE THE SKY before it was dark. It was a lovely, mild day and I really wanted to spend more time out in it, but…WORK.

Not a bad week, sometimes you just need a ‘not very taxing week’. I’ve been watching Christmas movies – seems there are a million of them these days. Most are pretty sappy, but that’s the best kind.
I’m need you here to help me figure out my clothes for my upcoming trip (to the cold north). I won’t want to take my whole wardrobe, so I’m trying to think with “Bettye eyes”.

To what part of the “cold north” are you going??
When packing I definitely try to take as many things that can do double-duty as possible. I know it’s hard when you’re going to a different climate. LIGHT LAYERS!
Yeah, the “not very taxing week” was actually good, productivity-wise. I’m really trying to get out ahead of myself with blog work so I’m not always last-minuting it. I’m getting a LITTLE foothold, but it’s very time-consuming.

My trip north is to St. Louis and IOWA – it’s cold in Iowa. I’m trying to think layers, and have invested in some warm leggings – don’t wear those much in Alabama. And,trying to NOT take everything I own. Worked on that yesterday, so I have a start.

Ooh, Iowa. I had no idea what the weather is like in Iowa so I just looked it up. Looks to be about 5-10 degrees cooler each day than here right now. So yeah, dress warm, my friend!
I like to travel as easily as possible, so one light suitcase is my goal. I don’t always manage it (wink) but it’s a good goal.
Good luck packing!
Iris
BTW, George the mouse has his own facebook page and I love e this guys photography. Thanks for sharing. (Couldn’t find my original reply to add to.)

This was actually not too bad. I used to not be able to get out of Target for under $100. And I RARELY go in anymore. It’s still just always funny what you end up with. The Sweet Baby Jesus beer was not for me, it was a gift.

That’s a pretty scarf you’re wearing. I have weeks like that too even though I’m trying to conciously add a date or two with fun each week. Thanks for introducing me to the other two bloggers. I popped over there and visited them both. I haven’t tried meditation lately but I do try to have some minutes of quiet contemplation each day (usually when I’m out in the barn listening to the horses munching on their hay). You’ve probably read this book b/c it came out about 10-15 years ago but it’s something like The Redbird of Christmas and it is exactly how you describe your movie watching. I hope you have a wonderfully fulfilling week this week!

Scarf: thanks, I love it. So autumnal!
The Redbird of Christmas. It sounds vaguely familiar. I’ll add it to my list!
Well, I already have fun plans for both weekend days so, there’s that to look forward to. And I found out today I have en extra vacation day to use this month so probably NEXT weekend will be a 3-day weekend, so, MORE FUN! There are SO many photo-opps around NY right now, mainly in Brooklyn and the city…I need some extra time to get to them!
Nothing like the peaceful sounds of contented horses munching hay.
