Year in Review: 2018
2018 was a challenging year for me
I lost my wonderful boy. I lost…that other guy. I found out I will be losing my wonderful home (details soon). I entered the world of crazy anxiety. My daughter moved even further away. After “cancer year” in 2017 I thought this year would HAVE to be better, but…the universe really doesn’t work that way.
But – I also got out to California to visit family I haven’t seen in many years. I got a better handle on my finances (which was a new year’s resolution for 2018, so Go Resolutions!). And I got to spend Thanksgiving with family in South Carolina.
I was able (with all your help) to pull the blog up out of the 2017 Cancer Year Slump and have its best year yet, and I have new plans for 2019. Like, I will now be posting four times a week: Monday will continue to be Week in Review, Tuesday and Thursday will be outfit posts, and Friday will be…something else: a tutorial, a shopping haul, fitting room try-on, shampoo review (if I’ve learned anything!), a philosophical discussion on something important…like the current state of the world or fluffy kitties. But you can expect four posts a week from here on in.
But for now, let’s do a little recap of the year.
Top Three Posts of 2018
#1: Influencer is Not a Bad Word
#2 Let Me Tell Ya ‘Bout My Best Friend ohh, my boy 🙁
#3 I Was Ghosted Guh.
Interesting that two of my top three had nothing to do with either fashion or plus size. But it was you guys supporting me through two very difficult times, so I thank you.
And speaking of “having nothing to do with my blog’s main focus,” I find this So Funny. My top post of all time, my most viewed post in 2016, 2017 and, you guessed it, 2018…was this random blog post I did reviewing a toning shampoo that helps take brassiness out of your hair. Maybe I’m missing my calling. Maybe I should be doing hair product reviews. #Ironic. Anyway, I’m only showcasing the posts that were actually published in 2018, but I just wanted to share that story. Think it’ll be top post again in 2019??
Product Review: Fudge Violet Toning Shampoo & Conditioner
I was going to share my three favorite outfits of 2018 but WordPress is giving me fits this week and it’s just stopped allowing me to insert pictures…AGAIN (grrr). So I’m going to end this here and just say, Come On, Universe, help a girl out, would’ya?? I’m going to plan on 2019 being a better year. And the 2019 Year in Review post will be full of all the wonderful (that I first mistyped as “vinderfelt,” and isn’t that a wonderful word??) things that happened this year!

Good luck for 2019 Bettye! Onwards and upwards, keep positive. I live in the UK and really enjoy reading your posts and seeing your great photos. Seems to me the US has a far better choice for plus size clothing. Your posts give me lots of ideas. Xx

There has definitely been an upturn in the amount of plus size clothing retailers over the past few-5-ish years, which, YAY. At least online. Things are getting a LITTLE better in actual stores, but it is SLOW GOING. The selection is SO much better online. Do you prefer shopping in stores or online??
Lin
Used to like a few favourite stores, but now online, just for the ease of trying on and a bigger choice. I really hate paying postage and the waiting for a delivery, oh and the returning stuff……!!!!
Iris
Four posts a week – you’re a brave lady. I’m trying to manage one 🙂
Sorry about your home – that’s no fun at all. I’m praying God has something even better for you.
Grace & Peace, Iris

Well, sometimes I think I spend too much time on the blog, but really…what else would I be doing?? Jogging?? HA HA HA HA HA. Seriously. Before blogging there was ebay. I tend to go ALL IN on things a little obsessively.

I know what you mean when the top posts aren’t fashion. But then again, life isn’t just about what we wear. I mean we HAVE to get dressed, and it does make us feel good when we are dressed nice, but there are other issues in our lives.
Happy 2019!!

From your second UK resident I hope 2019 is a better year for you.

Yay for four days of Bettye! And Caleb was such a handsome guy! I’m looking forward to your travels and your move (I’m sure it will be even better!) and seeing your part of the world. And yay for financial organization! I should probably look into that too… So, we’ll be here as you win 2019 (‘cuz that’s what it’s all about. be best).

Yay, I win 2019. So can I quit now??
