Here we are, more than halfway into April and I’m just getting around to the March month in review. That will give you an idea of how things are going around here! There’s a little different format here this time. It was another month when I did not have time to browse the internet much, seeking out favorite looks by other bloggers.

my top 3 posts march

  1. The Lightweight Guerilla Guide to Fast Money Keeping & Making

Another surprising result! Anyway, some good came out of my list last month. I did empty out my storage unit, and I am slowly going through and selling things off – for both saving and making!

2. Setting Wardrobe Intentions

I’m trying! Ha. As always, I end up buying 5, returning 4 (or 5). I’ve actually been BANNED from Asos for “high returns.” That’s the subject of a whole other post cuz I’m incensed.

3. Week in Review: Week 156

I didn’t think spring would ever get here! And it’s still a little touch-and-go. Most days still have a little chill to them…but there’s been one or two where you walk outside and go OOH – IT’S WARM. Like Real Warm. Not warm cuz you’re dressed to keep you warm, but the air is warm. Ahhh.

Not exactly sure what was so exciting about that week in particular, but…who knows.

my 3 favorite outfits in march

I love pairing low contrast tones together…and I especially love this color combo.

Loft Plus Lacy Pintucked Mixed Media Shell in Eucalyptus Leaf, size 24/26 / Old Navy Long-Line Open-Front Sweater in cream, size 2x. Sold out, very similar here. / Charlotte Russe Refugee skinny jeans. Old. / Aldo chestnut espadrilles. Old.

I liked this boho rayon top with two separate coordinating prints. And of course my white jeans with everything. I might have a problem.

Tolani tunic, size 3x  / H&M Navy cardigan, size 3x. Old, comparable here. / White Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda tapered jeans, size 22W short / New Balance grey Arishi sneakers / Hot pink rayon scarf, old. Similar here.

It’s the scarf that does it for me here, tying in the two solid colors of the turtleneck and the cardigan.

Joseph A Easy Solid Turtleneck in Rumba Red, size 3x. / Old Navy Mushroom/Taupe Cardigan, size 2x. Sold out. Comparable here in plus size and here in straight size. / Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, size 22wshort. Available in many sizes and colors here. / New Balance Arishi sneakers / Scarf. Gift from my daughter

my favorite purchases in march

Daily Ritual Women’s Plus Size Jersey Short-Sleeve Scoop Neck Swing T-Shirt, size 4x (they go up to 7x!!!). This is just a nice, basic, drapey, swingy, economical ($14!) tee shirt. I have it in white and black and white stripe (of course I do).

Super sexy purchase right here, folks! Supersliders Multi-Surface 2-in-1 Reusable Furniture Carpet Sliders with Hardwood Socks- Protect & Slide on Any Surface 5″ Linen (4 Pack). BUT, they’ve been invaluable as I continue (yes, still) to move furniture around in the new apartment (for how long can I call it the “new” apartment? It’s been almost 3 months.) I got this type because they’re good on carpet, but maybe my next apartment will have hardwood floors, so you can use them with or without the “slippers.”

what i read in march

I briefly touched on these in Week in Review posts, but:

The Kiss by Danielle Steele. I only did it because Audible was having a two-fer on selected titles so I figured I’d give Danielle a listen for old times’ sake. The story itself wasn’t bad, but it was written from such a sexist perspective! I was shocked. It was written in 2001, only 18 years ago – have we come such a long way (baby) since then?? Plus, I kept having the feeling she was getting paid by the word because she would say the same things over and over and OVER again, alright already!

Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. This was another surprise to me. Amazon writes, “Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank’s remarkable diary has become a world classic—a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and an eloquent testament to the human spirit.” But that’s just it – it really did not seem to me to be at all about the “horrors of war” or even a testament to the human spirit. If it weren’t for the occasional reminder, the reader could almost forget there was a war going on. The Frank family and the several other people who took shelter with them, had it so much better in their “hiding spot” than so many others during that time. For two years they hid out in an annex of a large warehouse, in multiple rooms and levels, with a kitchen and bathroom and helpers bringing them food. Her diary was, truly, the diary of a “young girl,” like any other young teenage girl – hating her mother, having a crush on a boy, being stubborn, having fanciful dreams. She just happened to be hiding out during the war. It was interesting, I’m glad I finally read it, but it was so unexpected. And of course, a terrible thing that once discovered, most of the family was separated and died shortly after. But that was after Anne stopped writing. Mine may be an unpopular opinion, but that’s my take on it. Have you read it? What did you think?

And March is a wrap! Finally!
