Week in Review: Week 166
This week flew by, I was busy every minute it seemed, I even canceled a dinner out with a friend cuz I was just worn out. I didn’t schedule anything for myself this weekend so I could catch my breath and get caught up a bit before a new week starts.
Fortunately, this is the last full week of items that I’m selling for a friend on ebay. There were like 50 things I’ve been selling for her and I was trying to get through them as quickly as possible so I can get back to listing my own things and start getting some of these boxes emptied and out of here. But I don’t need to push myself to list so many each week of my own things so that will give me back a little breathing room. I appreciate the extra money made but always struggle to find the right balance of making money to having time.
If you’re interested in what sort of things I’m selling on ebay, here are my current listings.
So, not really any fun pictures from this week as I just had my nose to the grindstone.
The apartment stays quite cool on its own but it was finally time to get at least one window open and this made Janey very happy.
Initial try-on of the plaid Junarose dress.
The week’s Gwynnie Bee item, blush pink super soft waterfall cardigan. Plus, my polka dot tee shirt that, disappointingly, shrunk in length after ONE washing – cold water, delicate cycle, air drying. What else can I do?? I’m not going to pay $4 to dry clean a shirt that cost $8!
Trying on a new purchase from Nordstrom. It was cute online, but a) I thought it was red, white and blue striped, which is something I’ve been wanting in a dress or a tee shirt, but it’s actually royal, pink and coral with thin silver threads and b) the fabric is very thin and lightweight which makes it catch onto body bumps vs skimming over them, so I think it’s going back.
If it gets hot hot soon I’m going to be in trouble, clothing-wise!
And ha, that’s my pants leg in the photo as I was too lazy to take my jeans all the way off to try on the dress, I just pulled them down.
It’s looking like a prehistoric jungle down by where I park my car at the apartment. I cut some ferns to bring inside. They have such an interesting scent. Very…green and alive…sort of like a vegetable.
Janey likes them, too. I keep finding them scattered all over the living room floor.
And now it’s Sunday. Mother’s Day. A day about which I have mixed feelings. I had an…erratic…relationship with my mother. So reading all these Mother’s Day posts on social media today “to the best mom ever!” “you’re the person who made me who i am today, mom, thank you,” etc., is a little…well, let’s just say those are not exactly my sentiments. I considered writing a blog post about it…I started it actually, just sort of journalling to get some things out of my head, but…I don’t know. I think I might be better served to just go lay on the sofa and read my book.
I did just get a face-time call from Katie, that was nice. I got to see Lila Cat and get a tour of her apartment…and to hear that she’s getting me a ticket to fly out to CA to spend some time with her and the boyfriend. So THAT was a wonderful surprise, indeed! We’ll have to figure out our schedules but that’s certainly something to look forward to. Happy Mother’s Day to me…
And to all of you, as well. I hope you’re all being loved and appreciated and cared for and pampered…or…left alone 🙂 Whatever you prefer.
Happy New Week, to us all.

Interesting items on ebay. I haven’t sold on there in so long, and things have changed so drastically, it’s just not something I want to do anymore. Plus, the thoughts of packing & mailing overwhelm me.
I hear you on the mother relationship. I’m sorta in the same category. But, I do have happy memories of “my” mother’s days. No kids around now, but I heard from all of them and I surely do not need gifts. The phone calls mean much more. Sounds like you’re getting a wonderful gift, and so much better than any “stuff”.
Like you, I’ve decided to show down and back off of a few things – and do more relaxing and things “I enjoy”. We both need to remember to actually do that 🙂

Yeah, it was a little shaky in the beginning, getting my ebay legs back again, but really, they’ve done a lot to make it easier to list *without* paying for a bunch of other listing tools. I do still miss Selling Manager, where I could see all in one location, but other than that, getting pictures and listings up has been pretty easy to get back in the swing of. It IS just annoying in general, I wish all my stuff would just disappear and a check for $5000 would just APPEAR 🙂 Sadly…

Considering you had that kind of relationship with your mother, you have become a fabulous mother. Which goes to show how you have learned and become more than just what you were taught. To me, that’s SO impressive.
It’s funny how these Hallmark holidays can be so over done, and make so many of us feel worse.

PS…I did notice the pant leg when you were trying on the dress and I though you were in a cast at first..

You know, I always feel like Katie turned out wonderfully in SPITE of me, not BECAUSE of me. I feel like “what did I do??” Sometimes I think it’s all a crap shoot.

I havn’t spoken to my mother in over 25 years, so mothersday is a weird day for me. But I have a lovely mother in law! You got a fabulous present!

Ooh, THERE’S a story. Maybe this WAS the right bunch to send my Happy Not So Much Mother’s Day post to, ha ha. Maybe next year 🙂

Happy new week indeed! I hear ‘ya on the Mother’s Day sentiments. I wonder how true most of them are? Anyway, yay to everyone who has awesome family relationships and yay to everyone who doesn’t! That about covers it doesn’t it? And super yay for Janey to get some fresh air and fresh ferns!

Yep, YAY TO ALL THE BODIES! Annoying story about Cute Baby Bettye…when I was little, instead of saying “everybody,” I would say “all the bodies.”
“Who’s going to the movies, Bettye Lynne?” “ALL THE BODIES! ALL THE BODIES are going to the movies, why can’t WE go to the movies?” This would undoubtedly be adorable if you were talking about YOUR child, but to hear a 58-year-old woman tell this story about HERSELF, from 55ish years ago…Questionable. But there ya go. My actions are questionable, at best.

Bettye, have you tried the hair conditioner soak and rinse and then stretch out your shrunk shirt to reshape and then let dry? I’ve also had good success with stretching the heck out of cotton and rayon (?I think) shirts in the body and the arms after I wash in cool water and then hang and let air dry. Not sure it would work with other fabrics, but I’ve had wonderful success with the after- wash hand stretching–except one shirt when I ripped out the threads around the collar. Do be careful when you pull. HaHa

I have NOT tried the hair conditioner soak! I do always do a little hand stretching of things as I have them air drying…but I will try that conditioner trick, thanks!

Hi was thinking how well you look in all the recent pictures. I also had to smile at the chest of drawers I can just see in your bedroom as I have one exactly the same it came from my parents house and my Dad bought it as a young man at an auction sale.

The tallboy? I actually just bought that maybe 5 years ago from a family at our school that was moving to Florida. It’s a nice, solid piece (as old furniture is!). I so prefer having furniture with history. You’re fortunate to have the dresser that was your father’s.
