Week in Review: Week 175
This week was Back to Work after Vacation. That’s always sort of a mental downer, but…it went relatively well.
I’d packed my Reward Tote (aka Beach Bag) for an after-work trip to the beach on Monday…but then it got overcast and I just didn’t bother. The bag is still in the car waiting for the next opportunity.
My Monday Outfit
My Tuesday Outfit
My Wednesday Outfit
Are you getting the message that I did absolutely nothing this week? It was just so hot. I was working on the blog. I knew I had a work event coming up on Thursday so I was conserving my energy. Perfectly justifiable reasons for staying in The Cave.
I really need to start getting out of The Cave.
Thursday night was the aforementioned work event. I took pictures. Which I would share with you except they’re all on my work computer and I am not at work.
Friday morning was the follow-up appointment for my physical last month. Doctor had a surprise. He was reading down his tablet list again, “no Lyme disease, no measles, no HIV, no this or that” (all things I had not been in the least bit worried about). Then he got silent for a second. Then went “Huh. Well. Hmm.” And proceeded to tell me that none of the things I bet HE thought would be wrong with me (because of, you know, my weight)…were wrong with me. Blood pressure good, no diabetes, good cholesterol levels, etc. I do have low B12 and very low Vitamin D, and he said that could cause fatigue and depression. So I’ll continue taking the B-complex and he prescribed a Super D that I take once a week. And we’ll see if those things help.
Saturday was a hideout and relax day. I slept late. I read. I got a sandwich from the deli for lunch. All very quiet and indoors. I could have done another garden tour or the beach but…I just wasn’t feeling it.
This week I read The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty (author of Big Little Lies, which I tried to read but Just Couldn’t…but then I also read her book What Alice Forgot and liked it. So…don’t always judge a book by its author). Uhm. It was what I guess people call “a page-turner.” It was an interesting twisty turny story that held my attention. It was better than “I managed to get all the way to the end,” but it didn’t Move Me. It didn’t make me laugh or cry or think or change or any of the things I think a REALLY good book should do. So I’ll give it a 3.5 out of 5. They can’t ALL be “REALLY good.” It was readable and a little more.
Oh! I got an email the other night saying “Congratulations! You have been chosen as one of our Top 100 Plus Size Bloggers in the US and Canada!” “Our” being Insyze. I’ve never heard of that website before, and I don’t know what their decision-making parameters were, but still. It’s always nice to be recognized for doing something you’re proud of. I do think they left off ladies who should have been on the list, like Maddy Gutierrez and Marielle Elizabeth and Ashley Dorough and Jamie Jetaime and Marcy Cruz and Kellie Brown and Katie Morton, but…like I said, who knows how they chose who they chose. PS, I’m #56. Squarely in the middle. Like I always am.
SUNDAY
Another day of nothingness. Well, I did a photo shoot. And put away all the clothes that have been in piles in the closets. Ate food. Shocking that an entire day has passed and that’s all I did. I got my laundry ready for the laundromat tomorrow after work.
I’m just living the dream.
So, I’m pretty proud of myself. I’m halfway through No Buy July…and I haven’t purchased one item of clothing…even with every blogger on the interwebz shouting at me about THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE. Alright already, ha. I GET it.
While I’m not buying clothing in July, I can still buy THINGS. Most of my purchases these days are things to make my life easier or more convenient…or camera related.
This little doodad is a splitter so that, in the car, I can both charge my phone and have my earbuds in at the same time. I am always listening to something. An audiobook or podcast. And I hate giving that time up just because I don’t want to arrive at my destination with an already low battery. A highly-charged battery is very high on my list of life’s Must Haves. A fully-charged cell phone and a credit card with available balance on it. As long as I have those two things I feel pretty good going into almost any situation. Anyway. This splitter thingie allows me to always have a fully-charged cell phone without having to give up prime listening time.
After a 6-month hiatus, I’ve resumed my What I Wore This Week YouTube videos. By resumed, I mean I managed to get ONE up. And next week I’ll try to do another one. It all fell apart at the beginning of the year with The Sudden Move and all the time-consuming things that came with and after it. Now that Storage Box Mountain has been felled (can you fell a mountain? like you fell a tree? Maybe not, but I think you know what I mean. Do you know a better word?) I feel I can resume some of my pre-move activities.
So, one week down, six weeks to go til Next Vacation. Katie comes home for a visit next Saturday. What are you looking forward to??

Hey…that’s great about being in the plus size blogger list!! You gotta take all the successes you can get!!
I do love the Tuesday outfit. And hanging out doing nothing is VERY good for us!!
I’m glad there was no big, bad news at the docs…hopefully those supplements will help. I’m a big supplement taker, and it always amazes me what a difference they can make. Especially the one that makes me not such a bitch (seriously)
XOXO

Enjoyed the video! I just found you this year; so it’s fun to hear your voice! Yay for no big issues at docror’s; I laughed because I have the same experience – shocked silence from docs when I don’t have all the ailments associated with being fat.

Yeah, he seemed stumped for a couple seconds, like THIS CAN’T BE RIGHT! Ha.

Liked all the outfits – you always look good.
Glad the dr report was just vitamin deficiency – that can be fixed. Do you take a D supplement? One of the speakers at my B.C. support group insisted we take pretty big quantities of D3.
Hope you have a good rest of the week.
Grace & Peace,Iris
