It’s That Time of Year
No, not FALL. We’ve all heard that enough by now! But right around this time every year, I get so TIRED. And I hear others say the same. I think it’s the shortening of the days, the increased darkness, the slight coolness to the air now. All those things cause animals to start growing their winter coats and loading up on fat to keep them warm through the cold winter ahead. Plants stop putting energy into flowers and start producing seeds and berries instead.
And I just want to SLEEP. Or lay on the sofa and read a book. Or SLEEP. Have you been feeling it, too??
My motivation takes a little siesta while my body adjusts to the time and sunlight shift. So forgive me if my posts and photos have been a little lackluster lately. I’ll get my mojo back soon and things will return to normal.
Also, this is the week of the sugar detox…AND the final week before our big golf fundraiser at work. I’m doing okay no-sugar wise, but I’m definitely feeling a little more tired. And work this week is exhausting me, with all the last minute things to be done and changes to be made. It was definitely poor planning on my part to do the sugar detox this week of all weeks, but it is what it is and I’m powering through. While yawning.
It’s nice to have some no-brainer outfits in your closet. They’re not exciting, but they’re tested, tried and true. Like this black and white striped dress (you saw this dress before here) and black longline cardigan. The dress is super stretchy so I was able to go straight to the sofa after taking pictures and get comfy with a book while there was still daylight to read by. No nasty waistbands or gaping busts or tightness anywhere.
Some leopard slides and the elusive cognac bag would perk the black and white color scheme up a bit, but…those items are not in my closet!
What’s your go-to outfit when you know you’re going to have an exhausting day?
On a totally unrelated note: my sister brought it to my attention that in a recent blog post I referred to myself as an only child. I think it was the post about books, and how I spent so much of my time alone growing up, etc. This is my public apology. I’m aware I have a sister and am not an only child. I’m sorry I made it sound like she does not exist. She exists! She was 14 when I was born, so by the time I have any real memories, she had left for college, met her husband-to-be, they married – and she never came back home. So in my memories of growing up, I was alone. So I did feel like an only child. Is this a crappy apology? Ha. I’m just trying to explain why I would say such a thing when I clearly have a sister. Okay? Okay!

I really like your outfit, very elegant and understated.
My sister left home when she was fifteen and I missed her terribly, I can understand where you’re coming from. I enjoy reading your interesting and informative blog.
All the best to you Bettye

Thank you, Cheryl.

I hope your energy level is soon back to normal. I hate fall and winter because I have to take anti biotics then. But I don’t feel tired. A bit of sunshine would do you good perhaps!
bettyewp
Why do you only have to take antibiotics only in the fall and winter?

OMG…that’s hilarious that you’re explaining that you have a sister. But I totally get it. My husband was the youngest, and even though he has a sister, she was older like yours and really wasn’t in his life that much as a kid.

Ha ha! Sisters calling you out! Well at least your sister reads your blog. Mine? Not so much! I like this outfit on you. Nice lengths. Some pattern. Fresh but not over the top. Someday that cognac bag will find you. Hopefully!
bettyewp
Ha, yes, that damn bag! Seems like such an easy thing. There’s a million of them out there…and when I found the RIGHT one, I waited too long and it sold out. I keep going back and checking but I haven’t been able to find it anywhere else.
Susan Sommer
Almost any bag can carry a little bottle of cognac. Why struggle so?
bettyewp
Ha! Excellent point! What is wrong with me?? Xoxo

Love your outfit. It fits well and looks really comfty. I’m all about comfty these days & if it doesn’t fit that bill it’s gone! So, as you can imagine, I’m weeding out my closet pretty well.
Tired – I thought mine was the medicine – but maybe part of it is the time of year. I do love fall, the colors, the temps, but do not like the days growing so much shorter – then hate the time change.
Complain, complain, complain 🙁

I so need an easy outfit. I have a striped dress, a long cardi, leopard flats, and a burgundy bag so…. I think it’s gonna happen. I just love the idea of that combination.
I get why you made the only child comment. I’ve had to explain to my youngest who LIVED IN THE HOUSE with her siblings that she is not an only child, nor was she meant to be the only child. The older kids say she’s spoiled {they did it}. And, when they’re feeling generous, they own it. LOL

I used to have ALL easy outfits…but it got a little boring being SO neutral, so now I have a couple fancy wild cards thrown in and it’s much more fun!
You’ll have to share your striped dress, cardi, leopard flats and burgundy bag look!
