Workday Wardrobe 10/21-25
A five-day work week at last! Not that I wasn’t perfectly happy with shorter weeks, I just haven’t had a full work week since I started this Workday Wardrobe series!
Monday
You just saw this plaid dress on the blog a few weeks ago here but today I was back to black accessories as these shoes are more comfortable for walking and I had some errands to run after work.
And Tuesday was my least favorite outfit of the week. I had camera club scheduled and it was maybe going to rain, so…I didn’t want to wear anything nice, ha. This is that top I DO NOT LIKE that I got free at Torrid in January in a “buy one get two free” sale. I hate the giant scoop neck and I feel ucky all day whenever I wear it. It’s going on Poshmark. I’m not torturing myself with it anymore. And I only just now realized, looking at these first two pictures, that I wore the same black cardigan two days in a row.
Also not a favorite! Ha, this was not a good week. But I’m between seasons. It’s too cool to wear single layers, but not cool enough for my warmer, cozy sweaters. There’s nothing wrong with this outfit, it’s just meh. As usual, some good accessories would probably save the day, but I never have Just the Right Thing. A scarf or long pendant necklace, some gold bracelets, a red lip. Yep, those things would save the day.
On a more positive note, I was able to pull some of my hair back in a clip!
Another camera club day, so sneakers and jeans needed. But I love the wash of these particular jeans – I actually don’t think it’s a “wash” at all, I think this is just regular indigo denim – with the golden yellow linen hoody. It’s lightweight and gives just enough protection on a mild autumn day. And I’m still wearing the heck out of the Daily Harvest tees I got on Amazon earlier this year.
A pretty colorful day for me! This is the first time wearing this mustardy gold top from Lane Bryant this summer. I like the color, the fit, the crewneck THAT IS ACTUALLY A CREW NECK (a rarity in plus size clothing, blrrgh), and the smocking detail at the top that gives it just a little sumthin sumthin so I don’t have to go (as I do every other day), “I really want a long pendant with this outfit.” I thought was going to be taking pictures at a pumpkin/animal farm with some of the littlest kiddos today, so I dressed accordingly. And then it didn’t happen.
I wore the Charlotte Russe skinny jeans twice this week. And I just want to make this point: I hear a lot “buy better quality items so they last longer,” but I’ve had these jeans like 5 years and I wear them A LOT and they are still going strong. Not all cheap items are going to last that long…but some are. And we can’t all afford those several-hundred-dollar “well made” items. But we can care for our items so they last as long as possible. I’ve got a post coming up soon on this very topic.
And that’s a wrap! I’m looking forward to spending some time with Katie this weekend and getting a LOT of blog stuff done while my friends are away so I can play when they get back!
Since a lot of these items are old and no longer available, I searched out some comparable items…

I love the last outfit on you! I know you are a neutrals girl, but that colorful outfit just looks so great on you! It appears, so far ,that you are having great success with thinking up new combinations of outfits.

It helps that I’m able to reach for new things from the “fall” part of my closet. Also, fall, with more layering, has more pieces to mix and match. Summer has so many one and dones, whether a top on its own or a dress…there’s just fewer items for combining for different outfits. I think that’s why I started craving more prints this summer cuz at least it seemed a little “more” than just a tee and jeans or simple dress.
I was just standing in my closet, looking (I do that a LOT), and realized that I have WAY more cardigans than I do things to wear UNDER them. That’s MOSTLY okay, cuz white tee, black and white striped tee, black tee (been wanting a grey tee), white buttondown and blue chambray buttondown can all go under pretty much every cardigan. I just know that by January I’ll be like ANOTHER WHITE TEE UNDER CARDIGAN OVER JEANS OUTFIT? UGH!! Ha. That’s why I’m going to TRY and break fall and winter up. I’ll talk more about that in an upcoming (scintillating, I’m sure) post about switching my summer closet to fall (which I STILL have not done as it hasn’t been consistently cool enough).

Love, love, love the last outfit. I probably would never have thought of wearing that color combination – but it looks great. I want it!
Also like the outfit in pic 2 – I know you don’t, but that sweater looks really good on you – as does your hair pulled back.

Thanks!
My goal is to have a wardrobe that allows me to LOVE every outfit I make from it. No duds, no one-hit wonders, no poor fit.

Thanks, Ashley. Yeah, those espadrilles were a clearance rack find two summers ago and I have really gotten my money’s worth from them!
