Week in Review ~ Week 205
This week was mostly trip and tax prep. Checking things off to-do lists. Staying up late and getting up late. Blah blah blah.
All work and no play makes Bettye a very dull girl.
AND THEN….
I was in California with my people!
I got to San Diego late, late Friday night. Saturday started with a wonderful breakfast made by her boyfriend Mark, then we headed up north to Los Angeles to see the rest of my family. Not including my sister and in-laws, all my family lives in California.
Once we made it to LA, our first destination was a thrift store called The Plus Bus which is dedicated to plus size clothing. I didn’t get anything but I had fun looking. We had a nice afternoon wandering around Melrose Avenue, a fun street with restaurants with outdoor seating, vintage clothing shops and cute boutiques.
I love being off Long Island and seeing people dressed like I see in blogs! Real Life Trends on Display! The people watching at lunch was great. Eating outdoors and people watching are two of my very favorite activities, so I was a happy girl.
We met with some family for dinner and it was really good to see everyone. I wish I had more time. There are always people I want to spend time with and things I want to do and it’s hard to do both as much as you want.
Sunday was National Pirate Pumpkin Unicorn Shout Day (according to my great niece) and we celebrated with a donut breakfast. We’d planned to go to Huntington Gardens for the afternoon…
BUT THEN…
It rained! It NEVER rains in Southern California! So, we went for a long lunch while we waited (and hoped) for the rain to pass…and quite cooperatively, it did.
In the evening I spent no less than four hours fighting with a new (to me) refurbished laptop that is just RIDICULOUSLY slow and uncooperative. I’m returning it as soon as I get home but for now I’m fighting with it every day. I’m actually writing this post from my phone because I just couldn’t take it anymore. I had some obligations for this weekend and I’m really scrambling to get things together.
I was supposed to get an unboxing video up about a new line of women’s watches from a company called AsoRock Africa, and link to it from this post today. But there’s no way that PoC laptop would download a video and allow me to edit it. It’s so frustrating. We drive back down to San Diego tomorrow morning (Monday) and then maybe I can borrow Katie’s computer and get this all sorted out.
They have a Kickstarter starting this week to raise funds to produce a women’s line of watches. The company has an interesting story and a philanthropic mission, which I’ll share more about in another post later this week.
That was my week: business in the front, party in the back .
Party on!
