Where Bloggers Love: Valentine’s Edition
Welcome to the monthly edition of Where Bloggers Live. It’s kind of like HGTV’s “Celebrities at Home,” but…Bloggers! Who doesn’t like to peek behind the scenes and see inside people’s homes? Over the next few months, a group of seven bloggers will be sharing their workspaces, their homes, towns and more!
Make sure you visit everyone to see where the magic happens!

I hear a lot of grumbling about “rassin frassin valentine’s day, it’s just a made up Hallmark holiday, ain’t no one gonna tell ME to give candy and flowers on this day, I’ll do that whenever I want to!” Which is all well and good…until life gets in the way and you realize a lot of time has gone by since you have done something special for one that you love. So I consider Valentine’s Day (like most holidays) a reminder. Hey You (yeah YOU)…if you haven’t done something nice in awhile here’s a Hallmark WHACK upside the head to remind you!
So today’s theme was Valentine’s Day decorations…or an introduction to those you love (for those who don’t decorate). And a couple ladies are on Wild Card status, so who knows what they’re up to this month! And we have a new addition this month to Where Bloggers Live: Leslie at Once Upon a Time Happily Ever After (I just love that name!). Welcome, Leslie!
Now, as I was away all last week and just got home tonight around 11pm, I have zero Valentine’s Day decorations up. But I’m happy to share a little about a few special people that I love…one that used to live with me…and one that still does.
The one I love MOST is my daughter Katie. If you’ve been following the blog for awhile you know her bullet points:
- Wonderful human
- 28 years old
- Kind, compassionate, smart animal lover
- Lives in San Diego with boyfriend, boyfriend’s brother, her cat, and their dog
- She is the managing editor of a business-to-business company that produces print publications, live events, websites, research, custom content development and marketing solutions. The primary markets they serve include the automotive industry, professional salon, and law enforcement. She is fortunate to be able to work remotely, so she has moved around the country a bit while still working for the same company.
- Children think she’s “one of them.”
- She’s like me in that aesthetics are a priority
- She loves hiking (unlike me)
In just a few minutes it will officially be Valentine’s Day. I hope you have a wonderful day, even if it’s “just like any other day” for you. You can do something a little special, no?
Be sure to check out the other ladies’ blogs. I apologize for mine being a little thin, I just couldn’t get it together while I was away. Next week should be back to normal.
Whatever that is.
Em
I hope you had a wonderful visit with your first love! I was following your adventures on IG (as often as I could). Aside from being able to spend time with Katie, which I’m sure you treasured, what a lovely place to visit!
Janie is one beautiful cat! I love the contrast between her fur and her gorgeous eyes. And her cute teeny head. We have never taken the cat plunge…neither of us grew up with cats so I feel like I don’t “understand” them enough to try it. That probably sounds weird, but it’s pretty accurate.
Thanks for putting all this together!

Thanks, Em – I had a GREAT time! It was, of course, too short…but I was also EXHAUSTED and needed a little R&R before I go back to work next week!
Ha ha, Janey’s teeny head. Hee hee.
I think I’m an ALL animal person. Well, all animals that can live outside cages. Not that I’m HOPING for any animal to be orphaned…but it DOES happen and if I DID find a parentless baby squirrel outside I would not be reluctant to bring it inside to join my little family.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Oh, I am all in for any animal, too. I would definitely tend to the squirrel and want it to become one of those “Dodo” stories where he hangs out on my shoulder all day and sleeps in my hair (well, that last one might be extreme). But yes! I meant that we’ve toyed with actually getting a cat from time to time. I know they can be so much more independent…and they can also be high quality snugglers. If one ever sought US out, accidentally or otherwise, it stays!
Frankly, I have too many thoughts of wanting to be buds with the deer in the yard. Many apples have accidentally found their way from my house and sometimes they wait for me near the back door. I start thinking of them as bigger versions of Kelly (but with ticks that could be debilitating). But yeah, birds and bunnies, too.

Oh yeah, all the animals. I want all the animals.
Janey is the neediest cat I’ve had…lemme think…I’ve had 13 cats in my life and they were (mostly) all lovely, but not as PET ME TOUCH ME STAY BY ME LET ME BE ON YOU as Jane. And I’ve never had a “pouncer from out of nowhere,” ha.
Iris
Janey sure looks like a sweetheart, and I can relate to how much company she probably is.
Glad you had a good visit with the daughter – those times are always super special.
Happy Valentines to you – and thanks for being my friend for so long.
Grace & Peace,Iris

It HAS been a long time! And yes, I’m sure Koda is a great companion for you as well!
Happy Valentine’s Day!

I am one of those who say I would rather have flowers or a romantic dinner on a day other than Valentine’s Day. But you are right, if I have felt neglected for a bit, then I am glad for PC to give me flowers and dinner on Valentine’s!! I’ll take it whenever I can get it, basically!
Thank you for the warm welcome to the group. I am excited to belong to a posse. Have had trouble finding my niche.
Your daughter and your kitty are lovely. What a sweet story of Jane finding you just when you lost your other kitty. I have always heard that we should wait a time before getting an animal after one crosses the rainbow bridge. But I think Jane’s timing was probably perfect.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Yeah, I don’t usually rush into a new animal. But Janey was an exception cuz she just SHOWED UP.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Leslie!

I love how you describe things. It’s another one of your superpowers Bettye. Like your daughter. How children think she’s one of them.
And Janey…of course you had to rescue her. I think sometimes these things happen for a reason. I’m ready to rescue a dog, but that male guy who lives with me isn’t quite…..hmmm.
I just love that Janey loved Caleb so much. That melts my heart. I only wish my two kitties loved each other as much.

PS..thanks again for putting this collab together. I love it so much.

I’m so glad everyone’s enjoying Where Bloggers Live so much!
And yes, Janey’s love for Caleb was strong and true. If he was on the sofa, she was on the sofa; if he was looking out the window, she was looking out the window; if he made a dog fort on the floor, she was IN the dog fort 🙂 I miss her having an animal buddy cuz now she’s ON ME ALL THE TIME.

Happy Valentine’s Day {late}. I adore you and your blog — you make me giggle every time I read your posts.
You and your daughter always look like you’re having so much fun together in your pictures. How cool that she gets to work remotely, I’d love to do that so that we could spend more time in our RV.
I’m so not a cat person. True story: they scare me. It’s the jumping and how they just seem to appear out of nowhere. Buuuut I can appreciate the beauty and silliness of them. I also like how they just seem to choose a human and that’s it.

You have an RV? Where have you gone in it? Do you do extended travel trips or just like go one place and stay there?
