Workday Wardrobe ~ March 9-13
MONDAY
Today was warm enough (over 70) to wear a dress with bare legs (hallelujah) but at the last minute this morning I remembered there was something I was going to be photographing at work, which means being on my feet, maybe kneeling on the floor, so…the dress was out, boo. I went, instead, with my long-time favorite black floral American Rag top, aka The Russian Nesting Doll top, and white jeans. I was happy to be wearing pattern. In the morning I did wear a linen mustardy-yellow hoodie cardigan over it, but that came off pretty early and never went back on.
- American Rag Floral Top, 3x. Old. Comparable in plus size and straight size.
- Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda Jeans, 24w short
- Black Adidas Cloudfoam Sneakers
TUESDAY
I love this outfit. I think I say that every time I wear these jeans or this top (from nuuly). I wish I had black flats, but. Anyway, I love the greyish beige tone of the jeans with the black. And I’m digging the black on black! Five years I never would have worn black on black! I feel like the shirt looks shinier in the picture than it does in real life. I’m going to be sad to send this shirt back to nuuly.com at the end of the month, but I’m watching Poshmark and ebay for this one and the navy one. I don’t think Universal Standard like EVER has sales, so.
- Black Universal Standard Kennedy Cupro Blouse, XXL
- Black Old Navy Super-Long Plus-Size Open-Front Sweater, 2x – this fine knit cardigan that I’ve had for several years (in black, palomino, and camel) is finally back in stock in plus and straight sizes, in black and oatmeal. They’re the ones that are 60% cotton and 40% viscose rayon. They’re lovely and wear all three of mine All. The. Time.
- Stone Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda Jeans, 22w short (self-cropped)
- Taupe Me Too Cairo Slip-ons
WEDNESDAY
The leopard cardigan is foolproof. I feel like it goes with practically everything in my closet and it never fails to get attention and compliments. Which is good, cuz attention and compliments…and not so good, cuz attention. I don’t wear things that get a lot of attention on high repeat. They’re so “noticed.” If I wore it weekly it would be so obvious that I was wearing the same thing over and over again. As opposed to the striped tee or black jeans, they look nice the day of, but they’re conveniently forgettable, so I can wear them over and over.
I am, again, wishing for a black top with white stripes. I think I might like that better with this cardigan. And I feel like I just wished for that top last week to improve some other outfit. Maybe that should go on my wish list.
- Striped BooHoo 3/4 sleeve top, size 26. Old. Comparable here in plus and here in straight sizes.
- Sanctuary Leopard Cardigan, size 2x. Sadly, I think this one is finally sold out. I see it here in a snow leopard print, which could be pretty over more pastelly colors.
- Black Charlotte Russe Refuge Skinny Jeans, size 24 short. Old.
- Brown (camel!) Kelly&Katie Jordi Loafers
THURSDAY
I had no mental oomph left when it came time to select an outfit for the day. So I went with old comfortable jeans, an old comfortable merino knit sweater, and old comfortable sneakers.
It’s the same outfit I wore in 2017 for my Caleb photo shoot:
Still holds up.
- Tahari Beige Merino Wool Crewneck, 3x. Old.
- Scottsdale Wash Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda Jeans, 24w short
- Black Adidas Sneakers
- Best Dog Ever
- Wig
FRIDAY (the 13th)
I wanted to wear my cream mock turtle over lightwash self-cropped jeans…but I didn’t self-crop them yet. And I wanted to wear my white blouse, the navy J Crew pants, and the camel cardi, but I need to iron the white blouse. So, this.
I feel like you can wear white pants with a black cardi…and about a million different things underneath. How many outfits do you think I could make like that?
- Old Navy Mustard Polka Dot Tee, 3x
- Old Navy Black Cardigan, 2x
- Old Navy White Cropped Jeans, 24 short
Whoa, it’s an Old Navy trifecta! I didn’t even realize that til just now when I was naming all the pieces.
And now I’m in my nightgown with the pink kitty-paw chenille sweater over top for extra coziness cuz I need some extra coziness after this week. Oofah. I’d say “hopefully next week will be better,” but I don’t think it will.

Wow…that’s interesting that you said that about the “noticed” pieces. That’s all I gravitate to anymore. Maybe I’m going through a mid life crisis, LOL!!!
That leopard cardigan is fabulous, and the print mixing with it is even better!!!

Good it’s warming up over there!! Chilly here today … I love that Russian doll top and the animal print cardi for this transeasonal weather. It’s funny – sometimes I just can’t be bothered ironing and it’s interesting what I find to wear instead!! Thank you for sharing!!

I love how lightly you plan your outfits of the day. Plan A, Plan B, Plan C. I used to be meticulous about heading for for Plan A as if it made a difference. Now I’m learning to enjoy Plan C and giving myself time to work out Plan A. You rock! xo karen

Ha, you say “lightly,” I say LAZY. I was too LAZY to iron, I was too LAZY to crop the jeans, so I’m left with wearing a same’ol same’ol outfit. And here it is Sunday night before a whole new week and I STILL haven’t done those things!

Love all your outfits. Would love to find some jeans that same color. And the leopard cardigan. I have GOT TO find something leopard to go in my wardrobe!

I love your floral print top, and the leopard print cardigan is fabulous! I know what you mean about standout pieces though – I have faux fur coats that I love but won’t wear them too often for the same reason. Thanks for linking up, stay safe!
