What I Bought: March 2020
Spending had to get back to normal this month. In recent months there has been “allowable excess spending due to Christmas,” an extra paycheck month, and a tax return month. It’s time to get it back under control.
We Made a Garden by Margery Fish. This was a birthday gift for a friend at work. Who I have not seen in three weeks now to give it to her (#blameitoncoronavirus). I have to say I was a little disappointed when it arrived. It’s SO charming on the outside…and has NO pictures inside!
Bueno Olivia Derby Flat (Women)
I fell in deep deep love with these shoes the moment I saw them online. I love an oxford. I love a d’orsay shoe. This was combining the best of both worlds in a soft neutral tone that seemed like it would work in spring, summer, and fall. Then I got them. Then I touched them. Oh. My. SO soft. And the heels and soles a cushiony rubber which makes my poor feet very happy. They looked small…but they fit beautifully. OH, and they were on sale! I actually bought them in February but they hadn’t arrived yet so I didn’t know if they were keepers so I waited to include them in my March post. As soon as I can go bare-legged I’ll be wearing these!
Aveeno Moisturizing Hand Therapy Mask
Got two of these for the girls I share an office with. We were all complaining of dry, burning hands from the constant washing and disinfecting we were doing while we were still working at the office. Gosh, that seems like a long time ago.
Vanity Fair Women’s Body Caress Hi Cut Panty
I bought two more pairs, given the current climate and my apprehension about going to the laundromat at this time.
Tetra 77151 5 Day Gel Fish Feeder
I got some slow-release fish food for some neon tetras that were left behind (at work) when everyone was told not to come back to the building. I figured I could keep visiting once a week and give them a new tablet. In the end, one of the teachers’ husbands went and took them home, tank and all.
Anyone have tropical fish?
Dritz 618 Snag Nab-It, 2-1/2-Inch
I’ll let Janey Cat tell you about this little item.
Miaow.
Basic Care Ibuprofen Tablets 200 mg, Pain Reliever/Fever Reducer (NSAID), 500 Count
a) Just stocking up on all things in case I get sick and can’t leave the house.
b) I hurt my arm when I went to California back in February. I figured I’d just pulled a muscle and it would get better. Instead, it’s gotten worse. I was just on the verge of going to the doctor about it when all THIS nonsense started and I really don’t want to go into a doctor’s office now if I don’t absolutely have to. And acetaminophen wasn’t helping. Turns out ibuprofen doesn’t help either.
Joico Color Butter, Blue
AND
JOICO COLOR INTENSITY COLOR BUTTER – TITANIUM
Just a fun little surprise!!!
Duracell Watch and Electronic Battery 1.5 V Model No. 384/392 Carded
My digital thermometer died and I can’t find one that will be here before May-June, so I just ordered a new battery that will hopefully work!
And, yes I made it almost the entire month without buying one piece of clothing…and then…I fell. The sales are just too much right now. And…sigh. I just wanted something. I bought four things…and only kept one (shocker).
Max StudioPleated Maxi Skirt
This was the one keeper. I’ve been wanting a pleated skirt since last summer. You’ll be seeing it soon in “NOW I’VE BOUGHT A PLEATED SKIRT, WHAT THE HECK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH IT”!
And…here’s what I returned.
I wanted this to work so badly. a) that color! b) it would have gone perfectly with the skirt! c) the fabric feel was so nice. But (there’s always a but), it was longgg on me. And it was sort of a dolman shape, it was all just a little Not Quite Right. So back it went. Boo. That color!
Catherine Catherine Malandrino Short Sleeve Crew Neck T-Shirt
So. Much. Disappointment. Stripes! GREY stripes! An actual crew neck, not the usual Plus Size Giant Scoop Neck! And I’d had such success with the two Catherine Malandrino sweaters I bought this winter, I was confident the fit would be good.
It was not. It was not terrible. It was just a little snug around the tummy bit. But. Also, the short sleeves were weird. They look fine in the picture here, but trust me, they looked and felt weird.
GRACE ELEMENTS Striped Long Sleeve Pullover
This has my name All. Over. It. But (<- see?). Again, just..too snug around the tummy and hips/butt. Sigh.
And that was it! My lack of spending was part “watching my pennies” and part “coronavirus: who knows what will happen next.”
But at least whatever happens, I have a pretty floral skirt to wear for it.

I have to tell you about the Arnica pills that Rob has been taking for his shoulder recently:
https://bit.ly/2V5BuAi
He’s used the cream in the past, but the last time we bought the cream, it came with the pills too. AND they’ve been working. He laughs that he doesn’t understand how or why but who questions pain free living?? The hardest part ? Is getting them out of the container…if you get them, you’ll see what I mean.
Can’t WAIT to see that skirt. I just bought a pleated one too…maybe we should be twinsies??

I’m going to try them – which do you think is more helpful – the cream or the pills?

Our doctors are now having video appointments to restrict number of non-emergency patients in office. Your doctor may be able to do the same, or handle your concern by phone. Hope you get pain relief soon. And love the pretty skirt 😃

Yeah, I should call and find out. He’s just going to blame it on my weight, anyway HA HA HA HA HA. I noticed this morning’s it’s better when I’m in a hot shower. Does that mean it’s muscular?

Love the pleated skirt – looking forward to seeing it on you.
