Work From Home Wardrobe ~ April 27-May 1
MONDAY
Oops. Forgot to take a picture.
TUESDAY
This was the one nice day of the week and I ventured out into the world in search of fried chicken. Don’t love this top or this cardigan, but they’re here so I wore them. Ha. I don’t actually dislike the cardigan but it’s sort of a hard color to pair things with. It reads as grey but up close it’s got like mousey brown-grey mixed in. I always thought it would go well with Just the Right Shade of Pink. But…I don’t have anything in JTRSOP. And the goldy top was one of those “it fits, so buy it” situations from like two years ago. It’s sleeveless and longer than I like now and this is probably the second time I’ve worn it. Both items should go to someone who can appreciate them more than I do.
WEDNESDAY
Continuing the theme of “wearing the things I never wear,” I give you Wide-Legged Crops Are Just Not Meant for Short, Thick Bodies.” Not this one, anyway. My legs look about 9″ long! Granted, I would never really wear a top like this with pants like this, I was just wearing them in the house. But they’re not a whole lot better with a shorter, slimmer top. They’re not even that comfortable for Fun at Home cuz there’s just So Much Fabric! And it’s a shame, cuz they FEEL so nice. Drapey Tencel, my favorite. But. No. They’re going on The Pile.
THURSDAY
I got dressed to get something out of the car. Wow.
I haven’t worn this dress since 2017. I like it, but it’s a little on the long side so looks sort of matronly – it’s better here with the shirt tied over top because it cinches the dress in a bit, which shortens it just a hair. Also, I haven’t had winter leg- and foot-wear for dresses for two years.
The dress is yet another Old Navy stretchy tee dress, but this one is long-sleeved and has the look of grey flannel wool, but it’s actually stretchy and sort of lightweight.
FRIDAY
Cute on top, schlubby on the bottom. I had to go to the bank and it was drippy and a little chilly out.
There you have it. Week Six of Working From Home. Do you want to see something different? Anything? Anything?

Maybe you could show us what items would close the gap in your wardrobe…. your “wish list”. Shoes, clothing items to complete an outfit, etc. I’d be interested in your thought process of how you “prioritize” your needs/wants. I tend to buy the same things over and over, sigh! Shoes are hard so although I NEED them, they are purchased LAST or I don’t get around to it…..Also, there’s the decision of finding a top for that skirt or letting go of that skirt, etc. Sometimes I do the math and decide not to throw more money at an outfit. Decisions, decisions, LOL 😀

Great topic, Linda! I’ll do that later this week – though it’s a 2-parter so be patient 🙂

Since you asked…I think you should try those pieces you haven’t been wearing more times, with more options. Just like you did with the pleated skirt before it went back.
That’s what I’ve been doing with my styling an item five different ways.
Granted if it doesn’t fit, that’s different. But I love that gold color on you. I see you tie up a button up top…have you ever knotted a tee like that? I use a rubber band for many of mine. And it changes the proportions a ton.

Some items warrant another chance…some just don’t. They’ve had their chance, ha ha. I think I will keep the gold top for this summer as I do need longer tops to wear over leggings, and that one is sleeveless, so maybe better suited to warm weather (the fabric may not be good for REALLY warm weather, so…we’ll see how long it lasts). It doesn’t knot up well as it is SO long, there’s just too much fabric all bunched up in the knot (I also use rubber bands – well, a coated ponytail holder). I do like the color, but I have another better fitting, cuter tee in almost that exact color (and polka dots!). It was a mistake to have bought two tops of the same color – I’m not sure now which I had first, but I like the other one so much better that it always wins in the “which gold top should I wear today” competition.
You’re such a rescuer, Jodie! You want to save all the unworn, unloved clothes. And I want them OUT OF MY SIGHT! Ha.

Handbags are my vice. So maybe a post on those? Strictly selfish of me to suggest, since they’re my interest and maybe not yours.
I have to say that I’m a little jealous that you can wear normal-sized shoes. I generally need wide-width. It’s definitely possible to get cute, comfortable shoes in Wide, now more than ever. But IMO the selection is still not keeping pace with plus size clothes. And it’s not exclusively a plus-size issue! I read a stat years ago that the average American woman (whoever SHE is) wears shoes in 8B, but act needs to wear 8C. That’s a lot of uncomfortable feet!

Ha ha, not selfish, and plus, I asked! Purses (and shoes) are very challenging for me so I don’t know how much help I can offer, but I’ll try.
As far as me wearing normal sized shoes…the fact that I only have like half a dozen pairs of shoes I wear on a regular basis reflects how challenging well-fitting shoes are for me. I would LOVE to find wide width but usually can’t, so I often have to size up. Some styles/materials of shoes are just naturally suited to a wider foot. And on top of my wide feet, I have a high instep…and sore feet so need extra heel padding and arch support. AND I want to like them and be able to afford them! Ha. I LOVE shoes, and would have TONS, but the process of natural selection keeps that from ever happening. I’ll talk about all that in an upcoming post – thanks for the suggestion!

And my first thought was, “Oh I really like that first outfit, especially the gold top. Looks very becoming.” Then, on to Thursday and the dress – which I also thought very becoming. Doesn’t look matronly to me. Of course, I don’t like short skirts- not many women have very attractive knees (in my opinion), so…. There you have my opinions – probably not shared by many – but so be it.

Follow up – didn’t mean to sound snarky. I’ve just always thought longer skirts were much more flattering, and many of the longer tops fit that category also. Okay, I’ll crawl back in my hole now.

GASP! I’M SHOCKED BY YOU, IRIS!
Ha ha, not really. I saw your “I’m sorry if I was snarky” comment first and was like WHAAAAT?? Iris SNARKY?! I don’t believe it.
And I can’t even find the snark 🙂 You shared your opinion. You’re allowed to do that!
Yeah, the thing about the grey dress is that tying the top in at my waist, shortened the dress up a little bit. Just enough to get it out of the “just a little too long” zone. I’ll take a picture one day with it on its own and you’ll see the longer length. I find I’m liking dresses JUST at the bottom of my knee cap. Once they start covering my calves they look a little dowdy to me. On ME. Some figures can wear ANYTHING and look fabulous. Some figures have narrower fabulous parameters 🙂

Bettye, you made me smile!

Your Wednesday and Thursday outfits are fab and your text is always a delight!! Have a great weekend – it’s Mother’s Day here in Australia and as some of the lockdown restrictions are being lifted I will be seeing both the kidlings, which will be very pleasant indeed!!
Keep smiling!

Happy Belated Mother’s Day, Donna! Was MD here yesterday, as well.
No lockdowns lifted here yet in NY but that isn’t stopping people from going out more and more. They’re just like “it’s been long enough,” thinking that somehow that has some bearing on the virus itself. I can’t imagine going out more than necessary even if it WAS lifted. And forget about eating out! How do you eat with a mask on? So no masks there! No thank you (for awhile, anyway).
Stay safe!
