Work from Home Wardrobe ~ May 11-15, 2020
MONDAY
In my ongoing effort to wear “the things I never wear,” I pulled this striped Old Navy tee dress out of a tub of TINW. I’ve had it four years and it has shrunk a bit so it’s just a little snugger around my mid-section than I normally like, but…I’ve been getting better about that.
I bought a cute scarf several years ago to go with it…does anyone know where it is? I took it to Florida in July 2017 and don’t think I’ve seen it since. I don’t think I left it there, but…I just don’t recall where I put it when I got back…and now I’ve packed (again) and moved (again), so really who knows where it is!
I love this golden yellow cardigan with blue, and I tried tying it up like I’m doing with everything these days and I think it’s pretty cute! It reminds me of those ballerina sweaters they tie over their leotards. Cuz I’m a ballerina.
TUESDAY
Never left the building today so just stayed in leggings and slippers. These slippers are Vionics that I’ve had for several years. They’re very good for sore feet. The top is from a company called Dream Investor that I’ve never heard of, but was carried by Nordstrom Rack. I’ve had this top for over five years. The leggings are Avenue.
WEDNESDAY
Yep. Definitely keeping the Madewell jacket. I’ve worn it every time I’ve gone out since I’ve gotten it. I don’t remember where I ran out to that day, but I have on the jacket and a bandana so I know I left the property. I love wearing this cashmere sweater. I know they seem expensive but I really get a lot of use out of them – I don’t just save them for “good.” I got this grey one on sale in January for $27, after buying the black one in October for $90 (gah). I don’t see it available anywhere anymore, but it’s by Catherine Malandrino, I think something similar appears at Nordstrom Rack every year. The navy leggings are from Catherines. And I’m still wearing the old Adidas sneakers I tried to throw out a year ago…but after wearing my Skechers til they looked and felt ookey, I went back to them! This year’s model is just not the same and doesn’t agree with me at all. So the search continues. And that is some serious slept-on hair!
THURSDAY
I WENT OUT INTO THE WORLD TODAY. I had to go into the office for the afternoon so I wore Real Clothes. A new striped button-down from Old Navy (I’m on a button-down kick these days, for sure!), and last summer’s white cropped jeans from…Old Navy. And my camel (they call them brown) suede loafers by Kelly&Katie. This look could easily have gone “nursey,” but I think the camel shoes prevented that.
FRIDAY
Look familiar (see Tuesday)?? Ha ha, yup. I did sit outside to watch a webinar on my phone and it was delightful…but I didn’t need to get anymore dressed than this for that.
And that is all she wrote! Anymore requests for specific topics? I know there was a request for basic white plus size tees…and that one’s tough for me cuz *I* can just barely find them! But I haven’t forgotten 🙂 And Jodie, I know you want me to try and “make things work,” but…by the time I’m ready to let them go…I’m Ready to Let Them Go! Monday’s blue and white striped dress was halfway to the chopping block for awhile but it has been refreshed with knotting things over it, as that helps shorten it a bit.

Nothing like knowing what I’m going to say…ha ha ha ha!!

What do you mean by “gone nursery”…I haven’t heard that one?

The bandana (scarf) is my coronavirus mask! Ha. I do accessorize when my life, LITERALLY, depends on it 🙂 I just pull it up over my mouth and nose when I’m around people.
Gone nursery? Hmm. Sounds like a typo…..AHH, ha ha, the outfit could have “gone NURSEY.” Light top, white pants, light shoes – always feels a little “nursey” (like a nurse?) to me!
Natalia
You got so much style! I love the freshness of your outfits. Keep rocking home office 🙂

Thank you, Natalia! Hey, I tried reading your blog but can’t find the translator! Can you help me?

Any color blue with any color yellow is my favorite color combo. It moves me and reminds me of Tuscany. Blue and white are another favorite, so you’ve arabesqued your way right into my happiness zone! Looking good, Bettye.

I totally get the blue + yellow = Tuscany thing. I had bought a little mustardy yellow ditzy floral tied-up top to go over the new blue batik print Old Navy dress…but…it was not a good fit and the color was not as good with the blue dress as I’d thought it would be, so it went back. The search continues.
