Dressing for A Chilly Spring Day
Me: It’s spring!
Winter: I’M NOT DEAD YET! (<- name that reference)
After this warm, sunburn-inducing weekend, today we were back to chilly temps. I wanted to wear my cute new Loft top…but it was a bit chilly for short sleeves, so I added the cream cardigan. I ended up with sort of an “external” cream column, with a warm spicy center (now I want cookies).
I pulled over by the pond to shoot and was minding my own business, all by myself, futzing with my camera on the tripod when…I looked up saw a bunch of teenage geese galloping towards me, palms out, wanting treats! Their parents weren’t far behind, giving me the don’t you give them anything don’t you TOUCH them look! They came Right Up To Me! I kept trying to work around them but they followed me wherever I went. Ha. Best Photoshoot Ever!
So – the shoot ended up being a little less about the outfit and a little more about Fun With Geese, but there you go. Real life. Plus, it was windy.
“Transitional Dressing” is a fancy term for putting a sweater over a spring blouse. Ha ha. I did intend to take the sweater off for a couple shots so you could see the pretty ruffles on the sleeves (they’re very subtle like those on the button placket) but I got a little distracted by my new friends.
Cars kept slowing down and looking at what was going on, and I was just waiting for someone to yell at me to leave the geese alone and I was gonna be like Hey! I Was Here First! They won’t leave ME alone!
Eventually, they settled down in the grass, I got a couple shots of them, and I left them to it.
So, the outfit. I like the juxtaposition of the feminine blouse with the oversized chunky knit cardigan. And these are some old Gloria Vanderbilt jeans I cropped a couple months back. They were too long and schlubby before and made me look like the camel with the wrinkled knees (<- name THAT reference!).
The outfit made me happy. The goose family made me happy. It was a happy moment in an otherwise very hectic day.
what I’m wearing
- Stonewood Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, size 22
- Rust Loft Blouse, size 3x. Not currently available in this color, but they do have it in a cute Tencel blend chambray color
- Cream Madewell cardigan, size 22. No longer available, comparable here in plus, here in straight size.
- Brown (camel!) suede Kelly&Katie Jordi loafers

Such a beautiful post and your last photo is priceless! We are in autumn now but wearing another layer applies here too. I get so many good ideas for putting outfits together here and your wardrobe clear out post is great too. I usually wear farm clothes so will check out some of your videos on YouTube for more ideas.

Hahahaha. “Bring out your dead!!!!!” Classic film. 🙂
Those geese got close! People must be feeding them.
I like that top – the color is so pretty.
And yes, the weather on the East coast is psycho this year, just like everything else. The heat is cranking as I type.

BRING OUT YOUR DEAD! Haha, yep.

That was fun to read. I like the matching sweater and pants with the colorful top. Will still look great when its too hot for the sweater. Your geese look very sweet and polite.

Mom and Dad were not too happy with me, but… They Came to Me! The babies were funny, wanting to stay right on top of me for a handout but also trying to imitate Mom & Dad by hissing at me!

I really like this outfit on you! The geese looked like they were quite entertaining. Glad you had a good day!

Thanks, Shirley! It’s good to be able to spotlight nice little moments through out the day, especially at a time like this.

Yeah I missed the baby babies but was happy to at least see the teenagers! The parents can be very protective. These were hissing at me but that didn’t bother me.
I’m so happy to find this color in a summertime item. I have loved it so much in the fall!

How fun!! Now that’s photo shoot bombing worth talking about.
That little goose is so adorable. I can’t believe they just ran up to you like that. It must be the beautiful orange top that drew them to you…haha.

People must be feeding them because they came RIGHT up to me, so quickly. There are signs ALL over the parks here DO NOT FEED THE WILDLIFE because it’s not safe for them to be so drawn to humans. But I’m glad I had to have my moment with them AND with a camera in my hand!
