Work from Home Wardrobe ~ May 25-29
The theme of the week, chosen by Jodie, was Stripes!
MONDAY
Happy Memorial Day. That never sounds right to me. “Happy.” Wishing you a Respectful Memorial Day! A Thoughtful Memorial Day? There’s got to be a better way to phrase that.
Anyway, in observance of Memorial Day, I am wearing red, white and blue. And stripes, as the theme of the week. This dress has been on the “out” pile for several years, but it’s been pulled back into use a couple times already this spring. It’s dingey on the chest but it’s alright with something worn over top. It’s another one of those Old Navy stretchy jersey knit tee dresses. Cheap’n’cheerful as my cousin used to say.
TUESDAY
Au casual today. I shot all those striped outfits you saw here…and this is what I kept on the rest of the day for work and to meet the girls at the beach in the afternoon. The silky soft Daily Ritual tee is from Amazon and the navy short leggings (7/8?) are from Catherine’s Plus.
WEDNESDAY
I had to go into work this afternoon, and afterward to my annual scan. I’ve learned to wear a loose dress with no metal bits so I don’t have to take it off and wear a gown. I just slip my bra off from underneath and I’m good to go. As you can see, they always have a hard time finding a vein they can work with for the contrast dye. But after That Year, I’ve gotten very good and accepting about being a Human Pin Cushion. I’m like do it wherever you need to, I’m fine. Pulling the adhesive off the needle in my hand when she took it out hurt more than the needle!
This is Old Navy Tee Dress #17. I’ve got a lot of them! This one is a 3x.
THURSDAY
I never left the building today. I started in the striped 3/4 sleeve tee and leggings, but would have changed into jeans if I’d gone out.
I have a love/hate relationship with this top. Stripes, love. Neckline, love. Short length, eh…poorly stitched up 3/4 sleeves, really hate. I got it years ago when I was still on The Hunt for the Perfect Striped Tee, figuring it would hold me over til I found TPST. And now it sorta fills a role for me so I’m still holding onto it. Striped tee continues to stay on the “upgrade” list cuz I just know there’s a better one out there somewhere…it just hasn’t found me yet.
FRIDAY
Finally Friday! I figured I’d get “dressed” dressed so I could go out somewhere after work. Y’all know the “invisible” black Asos dress, circa 2015. And this is a new Old Navy blouse I feel like you already saw…somewhere. All the stripes are starting to meld together in my mind. But can I just say, how perfectly does this shirt tie-up?? The knot looks like a little bow! All on its own! I take no credit for that cuteness.
And Keds. I’m actually waiting on the arrival of a new iteration of these, which are 5 or 6 years old and dingey. And this time I AM BUYING those elasticky laces that you don’t have to tie.
THERE! I met Jodie’s challenge of a week of stripes! I win! And now I’m taking requests again for the week ahead – anyone? anyone? anyone?

Dang, you have a ton. Even more than me I think. And you’re what I’d call a minimalist!!
I am really LOVING the shirt tied over a dress for you lately. Maybe because it seems more intentional or fitted?? Now I’m going to try it!!
Next week should be florals…or should we wait for a Wear it Wednesday for that??

Thanks, Marceline!

i second the “florals” idea – because those are always my favorite Another theme suggestion would be all white/cream — because now we’ll be past (The Real) Memorial Day, and a throwback to that old “no white before Mem Day” that we justifiably discarded in the fashion world

Two votes for florals, it’s a go! And speaking of no white before Memorial Day, I’ll be addressing that in tomorrow’s post, “Rules Are Made to Be Broken.” #BettyeBreakstheRules

I really really love the last look! I’m also digging the first one, so I guess that means I have a theme…I love a shirt layered over a dress & knotted!

Florals, hurray! Also, the tone on tone suggestion is a good one. Some cheap & cheerful summer accessories might be fun, too.

Love the Tuesday tee, the Wednesday dress and Friday. Also great idea on the Monday one.
