WHAT I’M READING
Gather Together in My Name by Maya Angelou. This is the second of the 7-part autobiographical series that she wrote. It picked up where I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, right when she’s about to have her son, father not in the picture…and how she supports herself and her son over the next few years. She had the kind of life that seems more like a movie than real life. But it was her real life. 3.75/5
What I’m Listening To
And for a bit of a bright note (pun unintended), a Staten Island 4th- and 5th-grade chorus, led by their teacher via Zoom, puts together a charming year-end concert. It’s a charming story. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to listen to their story and their song.
See you next week!

I love the Bettye house. That’s exactly how I picture your next home but by the ocean somewhere. Did you ever read any May Sarton? She, I imagine, had a Bettye house. Tell us more about why you loved your Brooklyn apartment. I’d love to hear more about it. I hope you have a really good week!

That little house actually IS right by the water, it might even be on a canal (in the back). I have not heard of May Sarton. I will look her up. Is there anything in particular you’d recommend?
I’ll share more about the Brooklyn apt in a blog post. I have pictures and can go on and on and on (who, me??).
I was off today, so that was nice. But Thursday I start back 2-3 full days a week. Not looking forward to that. Trying to plan something good to look forward to Thursday evening to help me through the day.

Oh, she has the MOST gracious home. It’s lovely to go there, she loves cooking and hostessing…she made us the BEST ICE COFFEES EVER after dinner – ice coffee + a little coffee-flavored liqueur + some Haagen-Dazs coffee ice cream…it was a DREAM. I tried to recreate it over the weekend but…it was just not the same 🙁
