Week in Review: Week 233 aka The Most Pointless Blog Post Ever
MONDAY
Back story: my camera lens cap has been missing for ages. It’s USUALLY missing, to be honest…with just brief moments of being found and put on the lens before it is lost again. Anyway, I shot video and pictures for Wednesday’s blog post and IGTV…and when I was editing the pictures I was like, what’s that round thing in my right (camera left) pocket? It was the lens cap! Ha ha. I hadn’t even been aware of it while I was wearing the shirt.
TUESDAY
Ugh. The dopy doctor, when I asked him to call in a new prescription for me of the wellbutrin cuz it was about to run out…only called in ONE MONTH. UGH. Now I have to CALL there again and maybe even have to TALK TO HIM again.
Why.
Why.
WEDNESDAY
Went to the camera store to see if Camera Guy could figure out how to get my camera and cell phone talking to one another via wifi. I’d been trying to do this (occasionally when I’d remember that was A Thing) since April 2019…but the issue seemed to be that the previous owner (I’d bought the camera as a refurb) had put her info into the wifi settings and I Could Not Get Them Out! Friends couldn’t help, Google couldn’t help. I felt slightly validated when it took Camera Guy almost 45 minutes to figure it out, but…he did, and now the cell phone-camera remote shutter things is working…it’s just not as magical as I’d dreamed.
Then had dinner with friend…with Hovering Waiter. I needed to vent and rant and he kept coming over to take our order, refresh our whatever, etc., and I had to keep being like GO AWAY. Ha. There were TWO other tables with people…go bug THEM. I’ll let you know when I’m ready! I wasn’t mean to him…other than glaring at him behind his back.
THURSDAY
It’s all stupid.
FRIDAY
The week just keeps getting better and better. This week, by the way, was The Slowest Week EVER.
SATURDAY
At least the child is having fun.
Piddled in the apartment most of the day. Met a friend in the park at 5:30 with take-out dinner. It was so pleasant we sat there til 8:30, well after dark.
I came home to a dead mouse in the kitchen garbage can 🙁 He got himself in then couldn’t get out. Made me sad.
SUNDAY
PLANNED to be SO PRODUCTIVE today.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.
I’d started working on a blog post…and I was trying to fix a timeline in my mind of when certain things happened and finally I was like, if I write this down it’ll be easier. NOPE. I spent about two hours on this sucker…and I was only in the period of time between 1977 and 1985! That was a…dramatic time…lots of things happened…and now I’m really struggling to put some of them in the right order. So I thought, “ooh! my journal!” I dug out Journal #1, which started in 1974 and went to sometime in 1980…stopping before I had questions. Then I started searching for Journal #2…looking looking looking…found Journal #3 (or maybe even #4?), but that didn’t start til 2003! So now I’m searching for one OR TWO journals…and then I think OOH, my college diploma (which would help solve some of the timeline questions). Hmm. Found my HIGH SCHOOL diploma. And I did not go straight to the college I eventually graduated from, so HS didn’t help with the timing. THEN I remembered in ONE of my moves, taking pictures of several diplomas and even my driver’s ed certification and sharing it on…Facebook or Instagram…and asking if people thought I needed to hang onto these things. I’m pretty sure they were like NO but I was not convinced and now I can’t remember if I threw them out or not. BUT, the pictures might have the date I’m looking for in them. So now I scroll back through my past two moves, on Facebook and Instagram, and through my camera roll and icloud…can’t find the pictures anywhere. I might have shared them on IG STORIES, so they would be gone now. I wonder if there’s anyway way of retrieving them. At this point I realized I’d just spent the last four hours trying to find out a date I WANTED but did not NEED for a POSSIBLE blog post SOMETIME in the future. Maybe.
SO. It’s been one of THOSE days.
WHAT I’VE BEEN READING
WHO CAN READ NOW THAT THERE’S TIKTOK?
WHAT I’VE BEEN WATCHING
TikTok!
I actually did turn the tv on Friday night after the laundromat (woohoo, I’m living large, baby!) and after some difficulty finding something Not Dark and Not Stupid, I landed on a sweet movie called, “Small, Beautifully Moving Parts.”
The movie was released in 2011. And I have to ask. How, in NINE YEARS, has no streaming service (and I subscribe to THREE) served this up to me as “Recommended,” or “You Might Like”?? Instead, I get the SAME moves showing up in “new” “trending” “popular” “you might like” blah blah blah…and RARELY are any of them something I might like! I usually have to go rogue and like…visit a favorite actor’s IMDB page to see every movie he/she has ever made and add THEM to my watchlist, or watch movie trailers on YouTube and add the names of the ones that look appealing then wait an interminable period of time til they have flopped at the theaters and come to streaming and then, and only then, can *I* watch them! I rate the movies I watch so the algorithm can SEE what I like and don’t like…and still…I see the same “popular” scary, action, suspense, intrigue, adventure, copsandrobbers, medical stuff I HAVE NO INTEREST IN. I’ll consider comedies but they’re mostly stupid. I’ve already seen every mainstream romcom ever made…and then there are Very Few movies that I’ll watch a second (or more) time(s).
Yup. I am CRANKY this week.
Fingers crossed the next one will be better.

I truly enjoy the fact that you’re so real in your writing. Several bloggers seem to cultivate the perfect existence along with wonderfully crafted outfits for their perfect days. I definitely relate much better to your depiction of life. Thank you for that! 😁 Occasionally, Thursdays are indeed stupid. Haha
I keep meaning to comment more often but life has a way of interfering with my good intentions. Ha! We’re packing up our house of 15 years and moving into a different one in another city. Ugh.
bettyewp
Ha, no one can ever accuse me of glossing things over!
Ooh, moving? I know it’s not everyone’s favorite, and packing is always a nightmare, but I think a fresh start in a new location can be (if it’s of your choice) exciting! Where ya going?
Melissa
I agree. This move is just that, a fresh start in a new location. We somehow outgrew our current house and now require something bigger. Our kiddo is a teenager and needs more space. Maybe *I* need more space?! Regardless, we’ve upsized with a master bedroom downstairs and a sunroom to enjoy my morning coffee. The sunroom was definitely a selling point for me!
The neighborhood is an older golf community with a country club, which is perfect for us as we near fifty. The house is older (early eighties) and needs some light interior updating, but it sits on 3/4 of an acre. I’m a total landscape and plant nerd so I’m excited about getting my hands dirty.
We’ll be in Cary, NC. That’s about ten miles west of Raleigh.
Thanks for asking. 😊

OOh, that much property sounds ncie if you’re a gardener. I USED to be, back when I had a husband who was good at following “dig a big hole there, put 10 yards of aged compst HERE, move that giant tree 2 feet to the left” orders. Now that *I* have to do the heavy lifting, I’m pretty happy with my dozenish potted plants on the patio. My dream is to have an above-ground-level apartment with a nice sized balcony. Enough room for a variety of plants and containers, a lounge chair, and a small table with two small chairs. In the shade. If there was something to look at, all the better, but otherwise, just to have a private space outside where I could enjoy the air without being in the sun.
Sunroom sounds delightful. Will you have a golf cart to zip around the communuty in?? I always thought that looked fun.
Melissa
I know how lucky I am to have a husband to make my green thumb a reality. Although, container gardening is becoming more and more appealing the older I get. For now, the landscape theme will be colorful but low maintenance long term. I plan to fill my sunroom with plants and (maybe) wicker furniture. I’m not sure if wicker furniture will be comfortable enough for daily use?
Your dream patio sounds lovely, especially in the shade. I’ve become sensitive to the heat (aka hot = grouchy) so I’m not voluntarily outside as much in the heat of summer. It’s my small contribution toward making the world a little better. Haha
The country club membership is voluntary of course. We plan to apply for membership next year after we’ve had enough time to recover financially from the move. Those fun golf carts come with a premium price tag! 🛺
We’re excited to move, but not enjoying the many details involved in closing one chapter so another can begin. Adulting is hard like that. Haha
bettyewp
Well, I wish you ease during your move and transition!

That mouse… why, WHY?! Things have got to improve. 😬
bettyewp
The poor little guy 🙁
jodie filogomo
Let’s just be Annie and say the sun will come out tomorrow?? LOL.
A dead mouse….sure it wasn’t Janey who put him there?
XOOX
Jodie
bettyewp
Yeah, I’m no Annie. Plus, the sun hurts my eyes 🙂
Oh I don’t think Janey had any culpability in the mouse murder. The kitchen trash lives in the closed cabinet under the sink. I’ve never seen her even try to go in there. When I lived in Brooklyn, she and Madison loved to sit on top of the stove and peer down the crack between the stove and the wall at all the mice who lived UNDER the stove. Occasionally they would venture out into the office and at most, Madison would bat them around a little, but neither cat seemed to have any interest in harming their little friends. And they liked following the cockroaches when they would brazenly walk across the middle of the room. I recall one that was so large it literally cast a shadow on the floor. Oofah. I didn’t mind sharing space with the mice…but the cockroaches…guh.

So glad Janey was cleared in the “whodunnit.” 😉 Although, I wouldn’t blame her. 🎵Tomorrow 🌞🎵

Cat hair on your black dress, much?
bettyewp
Ha ha, not sure what picture you’re referring to, but I’m sure it is 🙂
Christen Hearn
Hi Bettye,
It’s a headless pic of you wearing a black dress with a light blue blouse tied and knotted over it. Your phone is in your lt. hand. We have cats, too, so I know how hard it is to keep up with their hair output…I just would want to check any dark clothing for cat hair before I took a pic.
Hope you’re enjoying your little “vacay.”
Best to you,
Chris
