The Beauty of a Simple Day
So much significance is put on holidays, anniversaries, etc…but to me, the nicest days are usually just simple days. When I look back at my life and remember the nicest moments they were not the biggest moments…or even moments that anyone else would even notice.
I know I’ve mentioned here before how many of my nice memories involve being outdoors in the air or even indoors with lovely light and a breeze coming in an open window. Such simple things, really…but not to be overlooked.
This was a simple day. My friend and I went to Brooklyn Botanic Garden and to lunch afterwards. It was a very mild day. We went early before it got crowded. I always enjoy the Japanese Garden. We sat on a bench in the shade for a long time, just talking and people-watching (my favorite). I got to spin on a grassy lawn. I do love to spin.
We intentionally kept the day low-key, not trying to fit a lot of things in. Sadly, covid is ramping up here again as people are moving indoors for socializing with the cooler temperatures. So our plans are now based around the weather (to avoid going indoors) and the proximity of people.
I knew I wanted to do some outfit photos…but I wanted to keep things simple and comfortable. I did some light layers as the day started cool. Actually, Mother Nature played a little joke at my expense. It was SUPPOSED to be quite cool, so I dressed accordingly. But after a short time walking in the garden, I was Way Too Hot. As soon as temps go over 55 and I’m moving, I’m too hot.
Obviously the jacket came off quickly. But it wasn’t enough. And the turtleneck is thin and slim-fitting so it’s not a stand-alone item for me. I wanted the blouse left on WITHOUT the turtleneck.
So I flashdanced it.
There was some doubt (oh she of little faith) as to whether or not I could get the turtleneck off while keeping the button-down on, but…apparently removing clothing in public is my special gift. I’m so proud.
Hope y’all have some beautiful and simple days ahead.

Right there with you on wanting the turtleneck off. I don’t want anything that snug on my neck if I’m not freezing. Good Houdini maneuver getting that turtle off. I’m impressed! Beautiful pics as always.

I guess the real test would be: can I put a turtleneck ON while already wearing a buttondown…ha ha

LOVED the twirling video. It reminds me of my workout guru who always tells us, “relaxation is the new strengthening”. 👍👍. I bet you had to relax to get the turtleneck off too. A perfect day!

Two things:
1) WORKOUT GURU??? Do tell 🙂
2) “relaxation is the new strengthening” ooh I like that.

Essentrics/Classical Stretch. Miranda Esmonde-White. Lovely stretchy 30-minute workouts. Some even called “Aging Backwards”. 👍👍

OOH! I just took a look through some of her YouTube videos and am definitely adding her to my random movement rotation (I refuse to call it “exercise” cuz…I hate exercise, ha ha). Thanks!
Karen
Random movement rotation! I can use that…. I don’t “exercise” either.

The undressing sounds fascinating. I don’t think I’ve taken off a turtleneck while keeping the outer layer on. You really are talented. 🙂

It was interesting, to be sure. Fortunately the only people walking near us was two young women with kids in strollers.
I HAVE been known to literally strip down to bra in the street to change clothes during a photo shoot…but I TRY to avoid there being witnesses.
Plus, not that I’m miss SHOW THE WORLD WHAT YOU GOT but I sorta feel like if it’s really making anyone’s day to see THIS uncovered, well then YOU’RE WELCOME. Ha.
Interestingly, I’m much more modest with people I KNOW than with strangers on the street. I guess it’s just…I don’t CARE what random people think of me, really.

Yay, for your Flashdance procedure, lol. I agree, 55° plus movement is WARM! Leggings have the same effect on me as turtlenecks, lol.

Yeah, once I visualized in my mind how it would work, it was really not that hard. It’s a little more complicated than a bra but was certainly do-able.
So proud to have leaned a new important life skill 🙂

That is a true superpower. I’ve done it with bras but never a turtleneck!!!
