Plus Size Outfit of the Day ~ Feb 1-5
What do plus size 60-year-olds wear?
ANYTHING THEY WANT.
SATURDAY
Uhm…I think the only thing I did out of the building was going to the deli for an egg sandwich (I’m so predictable). So this was just comfortable for being around the apartment all day, mostly at the computer.
Turtleneck: Jessica London black cashmere/cotton blend, 3x. Comparable.
Coat: Old Navy recycled wool, collarless coat 3x. Similar.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, Callisto wash, 20 short
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons
SUNDAY
Pretty much a repeat of yesterday. I went to the market and for breakfast and then was home the rest of the day. This is my one graphic tee. I got it several years ago (2016?) and then it was ironic. Now…not so ironic 🙂
Graphic Tee: I’m so drawing a blank on the brand and I’m too lazy to get up and look, but it’s old and no longer available anyway, so. 3x
Buttondown: Sanctuary, it’s like a brushed cotton, not flannel. Size 3x. Comparable.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, black wash, 20 short
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons
MONDAY
A work from home day. Snow all day. Coziness required. Sweaters on sweaters. Lovely Lovely Lovely.
Turtleneck: Knit Fit Woman/Kohl’s cashmere, 3x. Comparable.
Cardigan: Old Navy mushroom cardigan, 2x, Comparable.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, Scottsdale wash, 20 short
Feet: mine
TUESDAY
Not my finest moment. Sloppy. Here’s what doesn’t work:
- Necklines are not playing together nicely. The collar of the white tee is a little loose and flopsy so it’s not lining the collar of the sweater well.
- Both tops are a little short for this light-colored a jean. For me. To ME. A darker jean would not have shown the contrast line so strongly between sweater and jeans.
Sweater: Black cashmere Catherine Malandrino, size 3x. Comparable.
Tee shirt: H&M rayon/cotton jersey tee, 3x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, Callisto wash, 20 short
Did I even PUT ON shoes this week??
WEDNESDAY
Hmm. I’m not exactly sure about this. I’m trying to continue coming up with new combinations from the same 7 (gross exaggeration for effect) items in my wardrobe. I like the striped shirt with the pants. I like the brown cardigan with the pants. Ifso facto, I should like the striped shirt with the cardigan. And I’m just not sure I do. The stripes are grey – dark grey. And while I like grey and brown…I think these grey stripes are cool and the brown cardigan is warm…and I just….don’t know.
But I’ve worn it. I got the combination out of my system. I never have to wear it again.
Cardigan: Old Navy, 2x
Button-down: Old Navy, 3x. Comparable.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, black wash, 20 short
Sneakers: Ancient Adidas
THURSDAY
This is my “woke up late, no time to shower, and now gotta take an Uber to work cuz I literally can’t budge my car on the icy driveway” outfit of the day. It’s not my favorite. This cardigan has never been a favorite. It was a “well, I’ll get this cuz I can’t find what I really want” workaround sweater. I really WANT a mid-to-dark grey cardigan with buttons and pockets. Like a grandpa cardigan. Sounds pretty simple, right? Nope. In my size/price range/knit I like? Nope.
What I do like is the cream of the crewneck against the light grey. Less contrast than white against the grey. Though I do like a white button-down with nearly everything.
And if I had those light grey Converse?
Cardigan: Old Navy, 2x
Crewneck: BP (Nordstrom) crewneck knit, 3x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, Callisto wash, 20 short
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons
FRIDAY
It’s Friday. Oh the joy.
Stripes and denim. Oh the joy.
So much joy.
Striped Tee: someplace in the UK. Ha. 3x.
Buttondown: Charlotte Russe Tencel chambray, 3x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, black wash, 20 short
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons
Oofah. I’m getting tired of looking at me. I need a refresh somehow.

I love the long cardigans. I have so much trouble finding them. Yours look so nice and warm – and I’m all about that these days.

I’m so short that even “regular length” cardigans are long on me. Like this taupe one that’s down to my knees is not intended to be longline or duster length. It’s just that on ME. The worst of it is that I cannot even reach the pockets!
Old Navy usually has a nice selection of different length/weight/colors, and if you wait for a sale their prices are quite reasonable.
