Plus Size Outfit of the Day ~ March 15-19
Plus size dressing for the last full week of winter. Rejoice.
SATURDAY
It’s a deli out/rest of the day in day. Squeezing in another wearing of the black turtleneck black jeans combo I love before it gets too warm. This is like when my mother used to say “you really need to visit your grandparents cuz they will be dead soon.”
In case you don’t know, I am very comfortable with the subject of death. A year ago I was working on a blog post called “I Might Die Today” but put it on hold when people really WERE dying (covid). I’ll resurrect it eventually.
ANYWAY…also got to wear my fave jacket, this little coppery brown quilted liner jacket from Madewell last year. I love it over the black but also keep wanting to wear it over a pink turtleneck that I do not own.
Turtleneck: Jessica London, black cashmere/cotton blend, 22/24. Comparable here and here.
Jacket: Madewell, 3x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, black wash, 20 short
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons
SUNDAY
Sunday at home. MANY jump rope sessions, and it always goes better in leggings. Sometimes the jump rope catches on the bottom of my jeans. And I CAN NOT wear shoes cuz just that extra centimeter of stuff on my foot makes me hit the rope constantly.
Buttondown: Sanctuary, 3x
Tee shirt: Avenue, 3x
Leggings: Old Navy, 3x
MONDAY
Working in the office. I’m always happy wearing both this Cupro blouse AND this brown sweater.
Buttondown: Universal Standard Kennedy shirt, navy cupro, 22/24
Cardigan: Old Navy, 2x. Comparable.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, Scottsdale wash, 20 short
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons
TUESDAY
Work from home day, but had to get dressed cuz multiple zooms. This outfit, along with the black jeans/black turtleneck combo, is one I would wear every day if I could wear the same thing every day. It’s that comfortable and easy and I like the way it looks.
V-Neck: Ellos.com cashmere, 3x
White Tee: H&M 3x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, Frisco wash, 20 short * gifted
WEDNESDAY
Working in office on St. Patrick’s Day so am wearing the obligatory green. I’m frustrated with not being able to find ANYTHING in my size (that I like) (and can afford) in one of the nice spring greens, like mint or sage. All I have is various shades of olive. Which is feeling a little blah right now.
I want something the same shade as this matcha latte.
Crewneck: Treasure & Bond/Nordstrom, 3x
White Tee: H&M 3x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, Callisto wash, 20 short
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons
THURSDAY
Took a personal day and spent it with Katie (YAY YIPPEE) in the city as she was passing through on her way to a bachelorette party upstate. Was a hard day to dress for cuz it was supposed to rainrainrain all day, at times very heavy.
I cursed the fact that I STILL do not have an actual raincoat. I ended up in the 6-year-old Ava&Viv/Target rayon/tencel jacket that is lightweight and not at all waterproof but at least has a hood. Fortunately, it was just a drizzly light rain most of the day and almost everything we did was inside of a 2-block radius so there was not that much walking outside. So I was wet all day, but I was with Katie, so…I’m not complaining.
Crewneck Handkerchief Hem: Merino wool Tahari, 3x
Tee: H&M, 3x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, Scottsdale wash, 20 short
Sneakers: Adidas, old. These are extinct and no longer exist in the wild.
FRIDAY
Back to work. Trying to get all my favorite sweaters worn one last time before it gets too warm for them.
Crewneck: Cashmere Catherine Malandrino, 3x
Buttondown: Old Navy, 3x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, Crystal White, 20 short
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons
Tomorrow is the first day of spring. Enjoy.

You sound like me…trying to wear all my sweaters (and boots) before it’s too warm.

It’s hard to give up cozy clothes at the end of winter…and it’s hard to give up breezy clothes at the end of summer.

I do like the black outfit with the brown jacket! And I bought a pair of the converse slip-onsโ wow! They really are comfortable! Youโve officially influenced me, who knew?! ๐
bettyewp
I hope you enjoy them! They feel so nice on my feet – like slippers I can wear outdoors.

Yes, conversations about death are all about timing. It is a topic which will often cause people to disperse, go silent, reflect or any number of things. Although I’m curious, I’m more focused on spring and its beauty. Looking forward to springtime photos!

My memory is so bad, sometimes I read comments and I’m like WHAT are they TALKING about? I was like…did I say something about death (ha ha real friends are laughing right now thinking “she ALWAYS talks about death!”?? I actually had to look back at the post (while it was just published this morning, I wrote that particular part a week ago) to refresh my memory.
Well, it’s the first day of spring so hopefully there will be some springtime photos soon!

I should have sprung that one on you April 1st, lol. I need to get a life or more hobbies! ๐

Ok, I think you’ve got this whole men’s inspired outfits figured out. Maybe you need summer to come just to challenge you because this seems like such a natural evolution of your outfits (except for the pink tulle skirt). You just never know what you glean from a pandemic do you?
bettyewp
Yeah, I really feel…like ME right now. It’s good. Summer is still stressing me out. THEORETICALLY I know some good options, but it’s finding those things in my size and price range. And really, starting out, hardly anything in my summer wardrobe is like this…new me…so I either gotta find some stuff quick (and I hate shopping that way) or…I’m gonna be wearing The Nightgown Dress and feeling like WHO AM I all day.
It’s an evolution, for sure ๐

Monday’s navy and brown was so rich. LOVE. And if the components to Friday’s outfit mysteriously disappear…sorry, I guess I DID figure out how to steal them from you with the power of my mind. (We seem to be the same size so how could I resist?) I keep trying white jeans that don’t work out, but I have not tried the GVA in white…what?! Not sure how I overlooked this. Hmm.

Yeah, white jeans are tough. Too “skinny” and they show every dimple and ripple underneath. Too loose and all the wrinkles are highlighted by the shadows underneath. This GVA pair is probably the best I’ve found…but come summer I’m going to want them in ankle cropped length and the hunt will start all over again. Also, really want a pair of just off-white – which they HAVE, but I NEVER see available in my size. Another Holy Grail.
I’m obsessed with navy and chocolate brown right now. UB. SESSED. I just saw another outfit yesterday…ON A WOMAN, BELIEVE IT OR NOT! A navy SKIRT (OHMYGOSH WHO EVEN AM I RIGHT NOW) with (I think) a modern, spare orange floral print (WHY don’t I save EVERYTHING I SEE?!?)? And a cropped chocolate brown jacket over top – picture the shape of a cropped denim jacket, but…nicer. And brown. It was lovely.
Sorry, but that grey cashmere crewneck sweater from Friday is under heavy lock-and-key. You could probably get with the stried buttondown and the white jeans, but.
