Week in Review: Week 303
MONDAY, JAN 24
Great news (ha, relatively speaking), my car passed inspection with no work needed (she’s a good girl). Yay. I always stress at inspection time cuz sometimes it needs a LOT.
Okay, I’m officially resigning from the Apartment Therapy Declutter Challenge. I gave it a good effort…but trying to fit THAT in (along with all the other extra things last week) totally messed up my daily Korean/English study routine, and I need to get back on that. So…consider me cluttery (no change there) til I sell a bunch of stuff. I do find myself now much more apt to just open a drawer or cabinet and hoik a couple things out and drop them right in the trash or a bag for recycling.
It’s not a DIET, it’s a LIFESTYLE, ha ha.
In some light-hearted BTS news…once again they’re being the Kings of Influence…while shooting for a James Cordon spot back in November, the staff all had Chipotle for lunch. Jungkook was enjoying his meal, and being unfamiliar with the brand, asked, “What is this, Chicotle?? I could eat this every day.”
Chipotle has since, literally, changed their Twitter account name to Chicotle, saying, “It’s Chicotle from now on.” They’re no fools, ha ha. IF JEON JUNGKOOK SAYS IT’S CHICOTLE, IT’S CHICOTLE.
And Chicotle stock increased by 9,000,000,000,000% and everyone lived happily ever after. The End.
TUESDAY, JAN 25
Nothing going on here. Work, study, jump, watch, sleep.
WEDNESDAY, JAN 26
I can’t remember if I told you guys that January 2 was my 15-year anniversary at my job.
I might have.
I can’t be expected to remember what I say or do.
Watched a GoGoHanguk live tonight on YouTube/IG. That’s the agency that helps foreign students get into Korean schools. I usually end up in a giant funk cuz I learn ONE MORE NEW HORRIBLE THING that I think is going to keep me from making it happen, but…not this time. PHEW. I just ask a million things. I’m gonna owe Mason and Eddie a meal when I finally get there, I’m always asking so many questions and they so patiently answer EVERYONE’S questions, even though, collectively, we ask the same questions over and over and over again! I already have new questions for the next one!
THURSDAY, JAN 27
Today was doing all the things I should have been doing all these other days but didn’t, to get ready for the trip. So it was a long, late night. Ugh.
Will I ever learn?
No. No, I will never learn.
FRIDAY, JAN 28
In spite of the impending snowstorm slash blizzard heading to NY, my flight took off just a little late (had nothing to do with the weather) and we still got to Florida early. The flight was good. I was the only one in my row so I go to sit in each seat as appropriate (window for take-off and landing, middle for the bulk of the flight, aisle once we landed and we were just waiting to get off the plane).
That was very nice.
SATURDAY, JAN 29
Katie and I went out for brunch while The Boy was at work…went to the market so I had food for the next few days, and did a couple other errands she needed to do. They left around 4:00pm.
There were crazy winds and it was definitely cooler than usual. High 40s/low 50s by day, cooler at night. Considerably cooler at night. REALLY cold at night, with the wind blowing through a house that was not built with cold weather in mind. And come to find later when the house temp was down to 57 that SURPRISE their heat doesn’t work.
SURPRISE.
They’d never even TURNED it on cuz FLORIDA. And I had no COLD WEATHER clothes with me. So I was layering up my light layers but was already chilled and UGH.
SUNDAY, JAN 30
Stayed in bed til almost noon cuz it was warmer under the covers than anywhere else. Went straight into a hot shower when I got up and that kept me comfortable for awhile cuz my body temp is very slow to regulate back to normal.
And then a gift arrived from heaven: a tiny space heater from Amazon. HALLELUJAH. That bad boy went right under the table that I was using as a desk for studying and the heat on my legs was deelightful.
I took it into the bedroom with me when I went to go to sleep later but…then I lay there not sleeping thinking I should get up and slip one of the pillowcases off so when the space heater set the house on fire once I was asleep, I could let the dogs straight out into the backyard but I would need to put the cat in something, so…knotted pillowcase cat carrier. And when THAT’S what you’re thinking, it seems better to just UNPLUG the tiny incendiary device before it does any harm.
So it was another cold night.
And tomorrow I have actual Out in the World plans with my NY transplant friend who now lives on the east coast of Florida, but she’s going to drive across to get me and we’ll find some fun things to do. But that’s for next week’s post.
And now there are a bunch of pictures of the kids.
The End(ish)
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO
THIS delightful music which is just so joyful to me…delicately joyful…not to mention PIANO GOALS. You have to get past the 20 seconds in the beginning of light talking and then…ah. It just makes me feel good. Smiley. Every time. It’s on daily repeat.
It is on Spotify.
NOW it’s the end.
