Plus Size Outfit of the Day ~ April 4, 2022
I was happy with my Monday outfit. I needed easy, comfy, cozy, and to feel like me. I was dreading the day a bit, but…at least I was comfortable.
I LOVE charcoal grey. My father had a cashmere cardigan almost this exact color. I still have it. He died in 1982 and I’ve held onto it thinking someday I might be small enough to fit into it. Sadly, the one period of my life, my early 20s, when I COULD have worn it, it was the LAST thing I wanted to wear. It was the FLASHDANCE ERA for god’s sake. I was not wearing a GRANDPA SWEATER!
I actually just pulled it out of a tub this weekend when pulling more things for ebay. Sigh. I can’t keep keeping it if it’s not going to fit before Korea. I don’t know if Katie would wear it.
Also, my favorite horse show jacket was charcoal grey…I think I have a picture…
I loved it with my rust breeches. Even back then I was a “rust” girl.
I’m sure I’ve mentioned (a million times) that if I was a boy, my parents were going to name me Rusty.
Rusty Rainwater.
Parents can be so cruel.
Also in my mid-20s I had a grey cashmere crewneck sweater I wore with a pink button-down. I bought it with my first-ever credit card: a Sears card. And it’s all been downhill since then, ha ha.
I like the combo of this plaid shirt and this sweater. I think color-wise they’re good together, and fit-wise. Just the right amount of shirt-tail peeking out under the bottom of the sweater. I do wish the shirt collar stood up a little higher on my neck (don’t I ALWAYS??) but that’s probably just me.
If I could stay in my nightgown for the rest of the week, the week would be a win.

Grey Cashmere Crew Neck: I can’t remember. And I’m still wearing it and can’t see the label. YOU guys probably know, after seeing it 9,000 times. 3x. 2020

Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons. 2021

Just a thought…could you take your dad’s sweater and remake it into a pillow or have it mounted? I know you’re trying to downsize for your move to Korea. But, I’d hate to see you give up something that obviously means so much to you. Trust me on that one…done that, been there, probably gave away the tee shirt! I wonder if you couldn’t even have portions of it “quilted” for lack of a better term onto another sweater? I bet Pinterest has an idea or two!

What a charming idea. And a slippery slope, ha ha. I have 4 cashmere/wool sweaters of his (I think 3 cardigans and 1 v-neck pullover – which I actually DID wear for a time in my 20s)…plus there’s clothing of my mother’s, an apron and bed-jacket that was my grandmother’s…the list could go on. I’d honestly rather know that someone was *wearing* the sweaters…and the things of my mother and grandmother, I will probably foist them on some family member from a more recent generation. When I die, they can do what they want with the things.
Yeah, there’s going to be a point in the “selling everything I own” era when all the the things remaining are sentimental or are things I really really love. And that’s going to be a hard point. But I’m not there yet.

I’m chuckling about the grandpa sweater!

The Flashdance/New Wave era might have been the one time in my life when I was REALLY trend driven. And there was not WAY I was messing with my look to wear a MAN SWEATER, ha.

I’ve finally gotten sentimental about some of my things (I never was much when I was younger), so I understand the sweater issue. In fact, I have one from my mom’s college days.
