My Week in Review: Week 1
This past week was a quiet one for me…although it started out with a very full day on Saturday.
First our little photo shoot for the week’s outfit post…
While I was in that area I went on a little shopping expedition, my first time in a Fashion to Figure store…there were a lot of cute black and white stripes!
“Never ask women to conform their figures to fashion, but rather bring fashion to the figure.” ~ Gram, 1950. I don’t know who Gram is/was, but I love this philosophy.
I’m trying to experiment a little outside the box…and this body con striped dress was *very* outside the box for me! Looking at it in the picture it doesn’t look so bad, but looking at it in the mirror was hard for me. I do think there’s a disconnect between how we see ourselves in mirrors vs photographs. But that’s a conversation for another day.
In the end, I didn’t buy anything. That’s okay. I had fun trying on different kinds of things. Baby Steps 🙂
I had a coffee date with a new photographer…hopefully you’ll see her work in an upcoming post! I should have taken a picture. Oh well.
That day was also my boy Caleb’s 13th birthday (!!!) so we took a stroll in a hushed pine forest…and later, had a little party with a cheeseburger cake for him.
After that my week went a little downhill as I had a sore throat and cough for a couple days. I stayed  home from work and rested, which was nice…even though you know you’re going to pay for it on the other end with having to catch up on all the work you missed when you were out! I muddled through and am feeling much better.
Caught a sunrise one morning out my apartment door…
Ooh, I’ve been coveting this midi-length olive green vest from the new WhoWhatWear line at Target…have seen it around the blogosphere and have been dying to try it. It wasn’t available online anymore, and while there are virtually Target stores on like every corner now, the only store that had them in stock was like a 40-mile trip. BUT…I did it anyway.
Annnd…in the end I decided against it. I think it looks nice on other people, maybe they were taller, because on me it just sort of fell into that frumpy fit thing that I’m trying to get away from. So. I will say my “just say no” skills have gotten much better over the years. I do have my eye on a couple other pieces from the WhoWhatWear line, so…I may say yes soon.
On Friday I won $10 on a scratch-off ticket (Yay! I’m a winner!) so I got vegan ice-cream sandwiches for me and my two office-mates at work from a lovely company called Sweet Annabelle’s – the owner makes all vegan ice cream, ice cream cakes, and ice cream sandwiches and they are SO YUM. So that was my little reward for getting through the week.
And that was my week! How was yours??

Can I just tell you how much I love the burger birthday cake?! And I agree with you 100%; I definitely think there is a disconnect between the mirror and the reality we see in photos.

“Can I just tell you how much I love the burger birthday cake?” Probably not as much as he did! I took a little video of him eating it and it was gone in like 2.5 seconds. The kitty kept waiting for him to share it. Needless to say, she was disappointed.
