She’s Alive!!!
Yep, I’m alive! The last couple of weeks have been spent preparing for a trip, going away, and now getting caught up on life after being away. I had a little mini family reunion with my sister and brother-in-law, and their daughter (my niece), her husband and their beautiful one-year old daughter Annabelle…and my daughter was able to join us for a few nights, as well as my bro-in-law’s sister and her partner.
We stayed in a nice condo right on the beach in Indian Shores, Florida, which was very nice and vacationy…and HOT. I don’t know how people live there intentionally. But it was good for a vacation, being right on the beach. We sat our chairs right in the water and just enjoyed relaxing and catching up with one another. I caught up on a LOT of sleep, I was still worn out from radiation, but I finally feel all caught up this week and feel Really Good for the first time in months. Just in time to return to chemo tomorrow and start all over again. But at least I had a little reprieve and created some good memories…like when a giant manatee glided right past my sister and I when we were out in the water…practically within touching distance! That was amazing.
It’s so important to get a Real Break now and then…getting outside your normal realm, away from responsibilities, work, phone calls, even social media. Sometimes you don’t realize how…AARRGGHH…you are with life in general, until you’re able to step away and have a break. Even if you can’t go on a trip, you can take a day to go somewhere new and explore a bit, see different things, and come back with some new memories and maybe a clearer perspective.
Speaking of stepping outside your normal realm, how cute is this dress? It’s the dress I got at Plus Bklyn (see post here ) cuz I wanted one new, fun, summery thing to take with me on vacation. This is so light and breezy and easy to wear, I just love it. And I’m not generally a hat girl but my niece gave me this hat in Florida because my scalp kept burning. In the end, the hat was not for me while sitting in the hot sun, and instead I took a washcloth, wet it in the ocean, and lay that on top of my head. Now THAT was a fashion statement, indeed. My apologies that I have no photographic evidence of this event but it was brilliant. Kept my head cool and un-burnt.
Back to the dress by Junarose, it’s not my usual look, loosey goosey with a large print…but now I think it’s my favorite dress of the summer and I’ll be wearing it a LOT.
And I love these big boho earrings. They’re very dramatic and have a lot of movement. And the boys like that, you know 🙂
I made a new friend. I had Doritos.
What’s your favorite outfit this summer??

Yeah, it’s so nice to feel so good. When you feel poorly for such a long time you sort of forget how it felt to feel GOOD!

Fun! I totally agree with you about vacations changing your perspective. Whatever the reason, it’s good to get out of the daily rut and change things up. Especially if you’re with people you enjoy and beautiful natural surroundings. I think people who don’t take vacations (who have the choice that is) don’t do it b/c then they’ll realize how much their everyday life sucks. Really, when you’re in the day to day you don’t see the big picture and vacations allow you to think about that. So, done with my philosophizing! Good luck on the next round of chemo and kick this cancer’s ass!

I do LIKE the hat, but for sitting on the beach it was so hot and shaded my face too much.
