Thanksgiving Dressing
What are you doing for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday? Do you have people to your house for a meal? Do you travel? Do you stay home alone in your jammies and watch old movies?
Whatever your plans, it’s always nice to look a little special for a holiday. It doesn’t have to be something new or fancy, but I think it’s nice to give a little thought to the holiday, and give it at least a little nod with your outfit. Maybe a certain color scheme or sumptuous fabric…or your elastic waist stretchy pants for a big turkey dinner!
I like to wear something comfortable and easy. There’s nothing worse than sitting around a holiday table for hours with a too-tight waistband! I also prefer a print as it hides spillage. Hey, that’s my truth.
I’ve been looking around at different options…thought you might like to window shop with me a bit…
Leith Bell Sleeve Wrap Midi Dress: Tell me this dress was not made for Thanksgiving!!! That color! And it’s a true wrap, so you can loosen it after dinner if you want! Comes in straight and plus sizes, 0 through 4x.
Wayf Blouson Midi Dress: I know, I’m like a broken record with this color this season, but seriously, where have you been all my life, rusty chestnut?? Comes in size 0 through 22.
Michael Kors Sweetheart Shift Dress: Alright, I can appreciate that someone might like a different color. And this all-over paisley print would hide the food baby!
Karen Kane Smocked Sleeve Dress: I can personally attest to the comfort of the slightly slinky stretchiness of the Karen Kane dress. And no waistband, check! In plus sizes 14-26.
And for the person who wears black to everything…
Style & Co Plus Size Scoop Neck Dress: in plus sizes 1x-3x and in black, wine, teal, rose and deep inky blue
Or if you want to be a little fancy…
Through the Bluebells A-Line Dress in Burgundy Lace
And for those who prefer separates…
Exuberant Sentiment Velvet Top: Sizes XS-4X
Inviting Style Turtleneck Sweater: This is a really easy, cozy look for leggings (maybe wine velvet!) or dark wash denim with a pair of cognac booties. Comes in straight and plus sizes XXS to 4X.
Twirl Power Midi Skirt: Check out that wide elastic waistband!!! Oh yeah, and the autumnal coloring, too. Comes in straight and plus sizes XS to 4X.
Being Bold Midi Skirt: Come on! Polka dots! Plus and straight sizes XS-4X.
For myself, I ordered a dark floral swing dress that has all the colors of all the cardigans in my closet! And sadly, it is TOO BIG. THAT never happens. And they’re sold out of the smaller sizes. So I’m in a quandary. Give up on it? Take it to be tailored…in like every direction? Wait to see if my size comes back in stock?? OOH, I just checked the shop and my size was back in stock, woohoo! I snatched it right up! I feel like the shopping angel has been on my shoulder this season! Hopefully this size fits!
What are you wearing this Thanksgiving??

I love your choices, especially that first dress! How do you flag items so that you are notified if the price drops? Is there an app for that?
Thanks for getting me in a fall mood. Love your blog!!

There’s an app for that 🙂
You would look amazing in that first dress!
I’m working on a blog post about apps I use to help me with shopping and saving money.

I’m very much looking forward to that. If the price drops on that dress, I’m in!

The dotty skirt!!! I love that! 🙂
Good to have your nudge to start thinking. Thanksgiving will be here in no time!

How cute is that dotty skirt!?!
Thanksgiving is 2 weeks from yesterday!!!

I can’t wait to see your new dress!!
We usually dress up somewhat for the holiday…why not? But I’ve been trying a new tactic lately. I will wear something that’s a little tighter, and it will remind me not to eat so much. It’s always hard when there are so many different yummy things, yet I don’t need a huge amount of EACH of them…..ugh!

Well, that’s certainly a different tactic!
I know what you mean, most things I’d be with just a bite or two of, but it’s hard to do that at someone else’s house…or it feels wasteful if you’re eating out. And yet, really…that’s all I need and all I want.
Of MOST things. But let me at those mashed potatoes and gravy and biscuits w butter and honey OH YEAH.

I’m hoping it gets here on time!
Oh I would never wear tight to a meal. Well, not one like Thanksgiving.

Everything I liked and clicked on was from Modcloth! They are one of my favorites.
bettyewp
Modcloth has ADORABLE things! I especially think of them for holiday items.

Modcloth is so much FUN!!!

I love the first two dresses and the velvet top, I love that chestnut colour and it suits me too.
bettyewp
I just got a cardigan in that chestnut color and WANT TO WEAR IT EVERY DAY WITH ALL THE THINGS.
bettyewp
I now have a couple things in that color and every day it’s what I reach for in my closet and I have to stop myself and say THERE ARE OTHER COLORS! WEAR THE OTHER COLORS. But I don’t really want to, ha.

LOVE the first dress and the midi skirt. I’ll have a HOUSEFUL for Thanksgiving. Daughter in laws will be cooking, so I’ll clean up. Several friends will be added to the mix at dinnertime. No idea what I’ll wear – probably something simple I can work in.

That’s nice that they come to you…and then they cook! I’m going to my sister’s in South Carolina…and Katie will be there…and my niece, nephew and great-niece from CA, so it will be good. I almost got to meet The New Boy (Katie’s)…he’s been staying the month with Katie in Florida, and it was looking like he might be joining us for Thanksgiving but he had to go back to CA for something.

I always say I’m gonna dress up for Thanksgiving or Christmas and every year, I end up putting on jeans and a top. Seriously, I must do better. Dresses are just as easier {honestly, easier} to put on as my usual outfit. *sigh*
bettyewp
Yeah, in theory I always feel I should dress up, but really I just want to be comfortable!
Glad you came by!
