We’ve been transitioning from summer to fall for like…eons now! I think the first Pumpkin Spice Latte sighting was the day after Labor Day. That was two months ago…and I’m still wearing a single light layer over summer-weight tops. And dresses with bare legs. Okay, even am getting a little antsy and would like to wear some cozy knits and booties – but I think I would melt into a pool of sweat.

So today I am showing yet another transitional outfit – a sleeveless rayon top under a thin  duster length cardigan, white jeans and sneakers. I keep moving this top to the “other season” end of the closet…and a week later I’m pulling it back (just when you thought you were out….they pull you back in). At least the wine color of the cardi is giving a slight nod to the season.

In a few short weeks (please!) I expect to be wearing this same cardigan over a merino wool crewneck or striped turtleneck with a scarf bundled around my neck. Let the transition transition, already!

Just this weekend I pulled the last of my wintery sweaters from the tub where they have been stored since March or so…and now I’m anxious to be wearing them! Seven months seems like a longer than usual time to have been wearing warm weather items – certainly here in the northeast. What about you? Are you in full-on fall clothing yet? Or do you still have some more stops to pull out?

I’m contemplating ending up on the west coast eventually, as that’s where most of my family is, and it looks like The Child is going there soon, too…and it’s odd to think of a time when there will be no real change of seasons. I know when I go out there and it drops below 60 degrees everyone is pulling out their parkas and mucklucks and I’m like really?? As I put on my sleeveless linen and head out into the beautiful weather. I do run warm, but…I don’t believe I’ll ever be thinking of winter clothes in Southern California.

Fingers crossed for a little nip in the air soon!
