(Caution: Chattier than usual)

Was a shorter and better week than I’ve been having, so PHEW. Starting off with a 3-day weekend (oh dear, a bird just flew into my big window!) is always a help.

Monday, Veteran’s Day, my girlfriend was wonderfully generous with her time and did a photoshoot for me – remember the Simply Be shirt dress from last week? Here are a couple more shots from that day…

I have no idea.

I call this one “Do Not Use This Photo.”

The last few weeks at work we partnered with a group called The Book Fairies who collect unwanted books and distribute them to children and families in need. The afternoon after they picked up the boxes and boxes of books we’d collected from our families, a parent came into the office with several books asking if she’d missed the pick-up (yes) and then if anyone was interested in the books she had. The first book was The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Controlling Anxiety. YES, PLEASE!!!

(if you don’t feel like listening to whining for the next few minutes, just skip down to the next picture)

I have had a Macy*s credit burning a hole in my pocket for – gosh, it could be close to a year at this point. Last year I bought a pair of sneakers from Macys.com. I didn’t like the fit and I returned them to the store to get the refund faster. Cashier guy processed the return and said the refund would go back on my card in a few days. A few days went by, a week went by, no refund. Knowing me, another week went by before I finally called the store (or, really knowing me, I probably chatted with an online customer service bot) and was told the refund would not be going on my card, a credit receipt had already been issued and was already in the mail. ARGH! So annoying! I wanted to have the money available for anywhere, not just Macy*s, why would they do that?? Why? WHY? But it was done.

I waited for the “already issued” receipt in the mail. Waited. And waited. Probably another couple weeks passed (I’m not known for my “getting right on things-ness”), still nothing. I called. Actually called. On the telephone. And spoke with a person. Me: Where’s my credit? Macys: We mailed it over a month ago, you should have it. (and yet…??). Me: Well, I don’t. Macy’s: Well, we sent it. Give it a little more time. (how did you send it, Pony Express??). I changed my approach. Me: Where did you send it?? Macy’s: XXX Street, Brooklyn. ARGH!!! I haven’t lived in Brooklyn since 2012!!! My BILLS from Macy’s have no problem being delivered to where I actually live – how does a credit receipt end up in Brooklyn??? So annoying.

So ANOTHER credit was sent, this time to the correct address. Finally arrived. Hallelujah. Was ages before there was anything else I wanted from Macy*s, but finally the big day arrived. Had had a Macy*s item in my Shoptagr for some time, it finally went on sale, I went to macys.com, put the item in my cart, went to pay for it with the credit. NOPE. CAN’T USE THE CREDIT FOR PURCHASES ONLINE, ONLY IN STORE. OMG.

I HATE going into actual stores anymore. Really. With a passion. I have to really be desperate to willingly go into brick-or-mortars. But I have this %&&*$%%$!! store credit from Macy*s. And I see they have plus size cashmere turtlenecks on sale. And don’t I deserve that? I thought I would wrap it up and put it under my Christmas tree for myself (I don’t think Katie is coming home this Christmas, but that’s a different whine/vent/post) so I’d have something to open on Christmas Day. But nope. They don’t have the plus size cashmere turtlenecks in store. ONLY ONLINE.

I don’t have much left in me at this point but as I’m walking out I pass the handbag section and I have needed a purse for ages, mine looks like I swiped it from a homeless person. But all the purses I want to look at are on security leashes. They’re not even fancy ones! And I just don’t have it in me to get a clerk to come unlock 6 different bags for me to “try on” and look at while under their salesperson scrutiny…so I just leave.

So, they protected themselves against theft…but they lost a sale. And after I eventually use this credit, they’ll have lost a customer as well. Good going, Macy*s.

RANT OVER.

Time for a peaceful autumn scene. This is walking out to my car in the morning. Doesn’t it look like a sparkle rainbow unicorn should be standing in the center??

And then it snowed!

I got a package in the mail this week from my friend Debbie…a lovely surprise, a sort of positive thinking journal/calendar with prompts and space for your thoughts and dreams. That was So Thoughtful! And how interesting that two “mental health” items appeared in my life this week. Trying to tell me something, Universe?? If so, I hear you loud and clear.

I know I just shared her blog in my last month’s favorite bloggers, but I saw this post this week and could she (and her husband) BE any cuter?? Keiko Lynn Fall Outing. And if you look at the second photo where she’s walking away from the camera, notice the dog tattoo on her left calf. For several years I vaguely considered getting a tattoo of Caleb (I know my sister just gasped and said Oh, Bettye Lynne!) but it never became a real thing. Now twice this week the idea has been brought to my attention – both by someone at work, and now seeing this one on Keiko Lynn. These are tattoos (below) I’ve seen that I’ve loved. But I’m so afraid of the artist not getting his eyes or expression right. And if it’s not right?? That would be awful. So I’m still just thinking about it.

I’ve been posting What I Wore This Week videos on YouTube for a couple weeks, they’re between 5-10 minutes, take a look if you want to see more of how I put outfits together on a daily basis (contain your excitement).

I stayed home this weekend, missed a local Animals in Art exhibit with friends (boo), but I had some things to do to get ready for my trip this week…and I woke up this morning with a killer sore throat, which has subsided now, but I thought it better to stay in, get my stuff done and then take it easy in the afternoon. Hence, no Sunday Funday pics. Sadface. BUT, there’s a whole WEEK of fun ahead, so…wait for it.
