Week in Review: Week 144
It’s feast or famine around here. Last week I had NUTHIN and now this week there’s a TON. I really made it a point this week to GET OUT and not just come straight home after work and stay here. I succeeded.
Even if I had nothing planned, I would take a quick trip through town just to sit in the park for a few and see what there was to see.
Phone fun
Purse perusing. One was too big, one was too small…and none were just right.
Considering Christmas tree alternatives.
My child moved from Florida to San Diego this week.
A friend and I went to a really great holiday light show – the NYC Winter Lantern Festival in Staten Island. It was magical. There was a LOT of ooh and ahhing and oh my god-ing.
After that we took a quick drive through Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, which is well-known for it’s Over the Top Christmas decorations…and I’m all about the lights. I couldn’t take many pictures cuz I was driving but here’s a little YouTube video from last year (not mine).
Today I met up with a friend for a jewelry-making class.
I made a bracelet. I’m so good I made it twice, ha ha.
Then we went for sushi and ramen. I got Valentine rolls and look, they’re shaped like hearts!
On the way home I took a quick turn through town just in time for this…
So, a very good, very full week. And now I’m exhausted and way behind on work, ha! This week I need to find a middle ground.
Just two weeks til Christmas, gah! I haven’t done any decorating, and have only done some online shopping. Are you ready??

Looks like a great week. Love the photo of the dock or is it a pier? That would be a great Christmas card. π πΌπ²βοΈ

What’s the difference between a dock and a pier, and I’ll let you know π Yeah, I want to get over there again with my real camera and get a nicer photo, that would be a nice card.

Middle ground? What’s that??
I’m one of those that tends to overdo, but just think of all the fun you had!!
That lantern festival was amazing….we just went to a winter fest in town, but it really paled in comparison!!
When we make a mistake knitting, we always say that ripping out is part of the process….kinda like making your bracelet twice!!

Ha ha, what’s middle ground – YUP.
Yeah, I didn’t mind re-beading the bracelet the second time, especially since once I’d done it, I could see changes I wanted to make in the pattern. It’s not like NEEDLEWORK, oh heavens, I just can’t. I do not have the patience for that! Though I liked needlepoint for a while when I was younger…and I see embroidery I would like to do. So. There’s hope. But I’m very impressed when you show a sweater and you’re like, oh, this old thing? I knitted it. GULP.

Oh sushi! You can wake me up in the middle of the night for sushi! And those lights….oooohhhh how beautiful! And the lantern festival!! Wow, what a beautiful something! Enjoy this week!

I’m not a HUGE sushi person, but I’m always happy with it when someone else wants it. Yes, so much holiday prettiness last week. I need to make time this week to get something going on in the apartment, cuz I drive home past all the loveliness and then I get inside and it just feels dark and dreary.

Love all the Christmas lights. We have a park in the next town that has lovely lights, but since I don’t drive after dark anymore…. What few decorations I have are up and I’m enjoying them. The little shopping I is finished and I’m trying to wrap my head around packing for a Christmas trip.

I LOVE Christmas lights! Like probably way more than is normal for an almost-60-year-old woman. I have such nice memories of driving around with my parents to look at the lights in our neighborhood and nearby ones. And as I got older and started driving, I started going further and further out. Then I had KATIE to go with me – we’d get hot chocolates and then drive around our town, oohing and ahhing. And now I don’t have anyone to drive around with – so I’m happy that there are EVENTS that I can convince friends to go to π So I’ll just keep sharing pictures for you to enjoy, dear Iris. When do you leave for your trip?
