What Does Spring Look Like to You?
And by “spring,” I mean spring wardrobe, spring outfits. To many, it’s bright colors and pastels. To others, it’s baring more skin. To me, it’s about quieter, softer colors. Fall is for the warm, highly-saturated tones like chestnut, rust, wine, pumpkin. Spring is softer – silvery sage green, robin’s egg blue, cream. Thinner, lighter fabrics and fine knits. And when it gets a little warmer, dresses. With bare legs. I can’t wait for that, but it’s still a little early here on Long Island.
Today I wore this outfit that was inspired (ha ha, no, this was really copied!) by Maddy Gutierrez in February’s Month in Review post. I really loved the combination of the light sage green under the cream cardigan…and I already had an almost identical cardi, so it was just a matter of finding the right top.
I found this sweet top at Loft in the perfect shade of green and with such pretty detailing. I broke out the skinny jeans and went with my chestnut espadrilles, which I think look so good with this soft green.
Here’s something clever about this top. The front is like a crepe material – very pretty, but has no stretch. The back is the same color, but in a lightweight, stretchable jersey knit. So you get the pretty in the front and the stretch in the back! Brilliant!
I’m sad that I never bought another pair of these skinny jeans from Charlotte Russe, as it is currently closing down. The online store is already gone and stores across the country are closing every day. I know there are skinny jeans everywhere but my legs are So Short, and these required no hemming.
I honestly didn’t realize til I was home editing the pictures, that the building complemented my outfit perfectly!
What are you most looking forward to wearing in spring that you weren’t able to wear all winter?
What I’m Wearing
- Loft Plus Lacy Pintucked Mixed Media Shell in Eucalyptus Leaf, 24/26
- Old Navy Long-Line Open-Front Sweater in cream. Sold out, very similar here.
- Charlotte Russe Refugee skinny jeans. Old.
- Aldo chestnut espadrilles. Old.

I bet subconsciously that you picked this place because it matched you so well…ha ha!!
I always love the camel shoes with an outfit like this!! It goes to show how versatile they really are.
And I know what you mean about the softer colors. Kinda like what my mom is wearing today on the blog.

Perhaps (subconscious). In reality it’s challenge to find suitable, interesting locations to shoot with a tripod. You can’t be around people cuz the tripod will be in their way and they might knock it over (not that I don’t do that on my own, but…), you can’t go on really private property, but I don’t like just shooting in the woods or on a dead end all the time. I really spend a lot of time searching out good locations. It is SO much easier with a human photographer! But they are harder to come by. You’re fortunate to have married one!
