Catching Up
Am I the only one that feels like I can’t get caught up with life?? Every time I think I’m just about to get a handle on it, something new pops up and sets me back again. I’m trying so hard to get to a place where I won’t keep falling behind, but MAN it’s a lot of effort to get there!
They say you can’t “catch up” on sleep, but aren’t we always trying to anyway?? I definitely tried to this past weekend (which is how I got so behind on Saturday that I couldn’t go out and play with my friends on Sunday, wahhh!) and a) I felt like I still could have slept MORE and b) my body paid the price. This heavy body just can’t lay down for SO many hours, it gets so stiff and sore.
I still haven’t switched out my cold weather wardrobe for the warm weather one…and it was pretty warm this weekend! I need to get on that! So I’ve been grabbing one piece or another from that end of the closet and making new “lighter” outfits.
I got this blue and white striped pullover top last year to fill a need for “something that doesn’t need something else over it,” like a sleeveless top might. But I always felt just sort of meh when I wore it on its own.
ENTER THE LIGHT GREY CARDIGAN
I wanted a super fine knit cardigan like the cream/black/camel ones I have from Old Navy. This was on mad sale so I gave it a try. It’s not the same as those other ones, but it’s light enough for spring…maybe not so much for full-on summer, but…it was so inexpensive it didn’t warrant returning (that’s how they get you!). But, I really like it with the blue striped top! Certainly I’ll wear it over things, also, but I’m glad I don’t need to resent the striped top anymore, I can wear it happily with this grey cardi!
It’s a happy ending.
Apologies for the lack of many pictures. Since last week I showed y’all an outfit I never actually wore…I thought today I’d shoot this outfit throughout the day while I was running errands in it. Sadly, not so many great photo opps in errand-land.

- Ruby Rd. Women’s Plus Size Button-Front Striped Dobby Top, size 3x

But it is always lovely to read your posts so don’t worry!

Spring so far has been brutally busy and I’m in the same boat as you. I hope things slow down so we can catch up.
I love that outfit! You’re right that the cardigan elevates the whole look. Nice one!

TOO BUSY!!! I did A THING today and was so happy! It was a small thing but it’s been bugging me for like two weeks but everyday I looked at it and was like I AINT GOT TIME FOR *THAT* TODAY! Well, today I had a little time and a little energy and I did the thing, and I’m so happy!
Sarah
Nice. I love that feeling and try to remember it when I feel like procrastinating….

Errand land! Ha! I hate that place! But, look at your forstythia! Full bloom. Here, they are still just sticks in the ground. No need to apologize about your photos. We wouldn’t even notice. I see bloggers apologizing about things (wrinkled clothes, messed up hair, whatever) and I think none of us would have even noticed if they hadn’t pointed it out. We are easily led sheep! How nice to bring some spring items out and I think this top is fine, but totally get it when it’s blah. Alright, gotta go feed some hungry ponies!

My first thought – before reading anything – “I like that blue stripped top, looks really good on you”. So there – with the “meh”.
I think we all “fall behind” in one area or another. Just remember, yesterday is gone – you can’t get it back. What’s done is done and what’s not done is not done. So, it’s not worth worrying about. Today is what you have!
Sorry, didn’t mean for that to be a lecture 🙂

I’m with you right now, Bettye. When we travel, I get SO behind even though I try to stay caught up. And it messes with my sanity!!
But I do think that blue and white top is fabulous by itself. Maybe with some statement earrings or necklace too???

Statement. Earrings. Necklace, TOO? It’s like you don’t even know me! ha ha.
I’m not a real “statement” dresser. There’s SO MUCH to unpack from that statement…maybe it needs its own blog post. Adding it to the list (don’t tell Julia).

I feel you, lady- just when it seems like you’re on top of things, here comes life throwing more curveballs your way!
I just switched out my winter/fall wardrobe for my summer/spring the weekend before last and it felt SO good! I donated a bunch of stuff that didn’t work anymore and got the closet all spruced up for a new season!
