Workday Wardrobe ~ Oct 2-4, 2019
I’m giving this weekly series a try, sharing what I actually wear to work everyday…for better or worse. You’ll see how often I repeat articles of clothing and how I mix and match pieces from my wardrobe to make new outfits.
Wednesday
Remember, it was a short week for me.
I went to a networking(ish) breakfast so dressed a little more than I normally would have on a 90-degree day.
I wore the black Asos dress under a camel Old Navy duster length cardigan, with my black “off-road” Taryn Rose flats. It could have used a long gold pendant or a scarf, something to break up the big expanse of black and pull a third (or more) color in. And I’m craving gold bracelets lately. I used to have several but over the years I would sell them off when I needed money.
Thursday
Today was rainy and cool and I had 3 camera club classes scheduled, so I knew there’d be quite a bit of walking. So I wanted my comfy sneakers and jeans…and I topped them with an easy top and lightweight mustard linen hoody.
Friday
Fri-yay! It’s sunny and mild today. I have two camera club classes at different locations, so lots of walking means flats. My daily outfits are usually based on two main things: weather and the day’s activities. I used to have more “all day in the chair” days so I wore more dresses and flats. Now I have camera club every day so I’ve been dressing more suitable for walking and sweating.
I’m a little fallish today in a pumpkiny-gold tee with black polka dots. The polka dots tie in with the long black cardi. I considered white jeans or these light wash jeans but thought the light wash was a little more casual and less apt to get dirty on my camera club travels. I wore my leather espadrilles cuz they’re easy to walk in, but I brought my black Skechers for one of the camera locations cuz I knew we’d be walking in wet grass. I was running late (shocker) so I didn’t stop to put on any jewelry.
What did you think of this format? Is it helpful/interesting/entertaining (ha) to see actual daily outfits? I appreciate your feedback.

Bettye this is a great format, I really like your photos and descriptions of outfits for specific activities while being mindful of the weather too.
Cheers,
Cheryl

Thanks, Cheryl. I appreciate the feedback 🙂 And what do you think about posting on Saturday? I feel like most bloggers don’t post on the weekends and I’m always reading that more people read blogs and look at Instagram etc. while they’re at work during the week, so it felt weird to post today.
Mochi
Love the format! It’s like working together again, and I get to see you every day!
bettyewp
Ha, yes, I miss our morning visits at work. Let’s go do The Thing! I think we should buy tickets before they’re sold out!
TL
I love your posts and enjoy photos in beautiful places. Those jeans are lovely.
bettyewp
Thanks, TL! Yes, I much prefer taking pictures “places” vs my living room but I don’t always have the opportunity. Those windowboxes were gorgeous though!
Lin
I enjoy all your posts! It’s good to see how you put your looks together. Also I love your new glasses and longer hair!
bettyewp
Thank you, Lin 🙂 I’m STILL not used to the new glasses on me!
Laurie Elliott
I always like your posts, but I really enjoyed and related to this actual outfit for the day post. It is the same process I used when I worked and still use now that I’m retired. I like seeing how pieces are used, and mixed and matched for every day living. Feeling good and being comfortable at the same time are key to me. Thank you!
bettyewp
Thanks, Laurie. I always these kinds of posts, too, when I see others doing them. Outfits posts are one thing. I really only show things I would actually wear in theory…but the everyday looks are more realistic to ACTUALLY wear!
Thanks for your comment!

I love the Saturday post. I like all the outfits, but the last one is my favorite. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
bettyewp
That was my favorite, too! I’d waited for those faded light wash jeans to wear the pumpkin tee and black cardigan with all summer!
Iris
Love this – thoroughly enjoyed it. Hope you keep it up. All the outfits look good on you. Looking forward to next week already.

Thanks, Iris. This is like what I’d been doing on YouTube, “What I Wore This Week,” but I haven’t really been able to get a foothold on YouTube, plus video is SO much more time and labor intensive than photography. I don’t MIND the labor and I still want to learn it and be able to do it, but right now I’m finding the time was just too much. So I’m glad to find it a home. I know I always like seeing the “daily” outfits.

This is a great format Bettye. Your work must be pretty casual, so it’s nice that you can wear jeans that transition to your after work activities.
And those espadrilles?? Totally the best. I just bought some in turquoise!!
XOXO

HR is always trying to “corporate us up,” but we’re not having it! I mean, it’s a small private school (not in a fancy monied way, but in a special ed way), and I’m on the development team AND I’m the camera club person, I’m up and down and climbing around things and we lug things to and from events. It’s ridiculous to think we’re going to dress up for work. So I do sometimes when I CAN, but if I’m schlepping around all day, I’m going in jeans and sneakers!
Sarah
Real life and workday inspiration is highly appreciated. Great idea. Really nice outfits too, I especially love Thursday and Friyay. You must be my spirit animal because I recently started wearing gold bracelets. Bangles on one arm and a gold chain/grey bead combo with a lightning bolt on the other.
bettyewp
Yeah, I definitely need to start rebuilding my jewelry wardrobe! I take a lot of missteps there. I buy things I LIKE but then they don’t really work with what I actually wear. I need to go through my closet and think of what type of jewelry I need for specific outfits. And so many of my outfits are sort of similar in type (jeans, tee, cardigan) that I think the jewelry that will go with ONE outfit, will go with several outfits.
I want to see your lightning bolt bracelet! Is it a charm? Or is the whole bracelet lightning bolty?
Shirley Horst
Love the format!! And the last outfit is my favorite! You inspire me every day, keep doing what you’re doing however works for you.
bettyewp
Thanks a lot, Shirley!

Saturday post… awesome! I too, like your glasses and especially your last outfit. It’s helpful to see several daily outfits in one post. I like this format. Thanks!!
bettyewp
Thanks for the feedback, Linda! It’s good for me, too…it makes me be a little more thoughtful about what I wear each day vs. just wearing the same easy combinations over and over!
Pauline starsmore
hi you look so well. Outfits are very nice.
bettyewp
Thanks, Pauline!

Smooches, Bettye. You’ve saved me. I have an interview on Monday and didn’t want to wear a suit or too much black (I always wear too much black.) So I can do a black dress with a tan duster I bought but never wore. I didn’t even consider it.
bettyewp
Woohoo! This happens to me all the time – I see an outfit picture somewhere that I like and it hits me that I actually HAVE all those pieces it just didn’t occur to me to put them together!
Good luck on your interview!
Michelle
I like the new format – it’s interesting to see how people style pieces different ways over time. I tend to put things in the same outfits over and over.
Love that red top, too – is it Lucky Brand?
bettyewp
The top is Anthropologie but it does have that Lucky brand look, doesn’t it??
Daenel T.
I really like this idea and the descriptions for why you chose the outfits. I thought about doing something similar on Instagram stories now that I’ve finally figured it out. LOL I did it once and forgot. LOL
bettyewp
Ha, that’s me and my YouTube channel. I have A Plan but I forget to do the daily things I need to do to put together a video at the end of the week. Ugh.
