Week in Review: Week 198
Get a snack. This is a long one.
Monday
Had a pretty productive day off…
MONDAY DID
* Slept straight through til 8am, lovely, then read on the sofa for 2 hours
* Shoot two outfits for this week, done, shot THREE
* Make shopping list to make chocolate bark for work holiday gifts, DONE
* Market, nope, go to Trader Joe’s after work Tuesday
* Get two little trees for pots outside, didn’t have them at local nursery, will look at Home Depot tomorrow (never did find what I wanted at an agreeable price point, and in the end, I’m just going to put the lights on the dead mums, ha ha. It’ll still look pretty at night)
* Got Christmas decorations out of the scary closet, will iron ribbons tomorrow night
* Find passport paperwork, make appt for next week (I think it’s in car)
* Call student loan co, DONE
* Check checking account to make sure all returns have been refunded – didn’t get to this
* Edit blog pictures for Tuesday post, done
* Write Tuesday blog post, done
* Assess Christmas gift lists, my list of gifts left to buy/make is very short
* Cooked chicken for the week, done
A squirrel (you can just make out his floofy tail here) has chewed the lid off the pumpkin sitting on the patio table and is having a lovely holiday treat for himself.
I stopped in at a thrift store on my way to the nursery and didn’t buy these boots.
No regrets.
Tuesday
This is my “must follow” Instagram recommendation. @this_girl_is_a_squirrel. She is the cutest sweetest funnest funniest little creature.
When it’s sunny at work in the mornings, the sun reflects off the schoolbus windshields onto our office wall. And depending what is between the bus and us…we get some interesting shadows. This was Katie’s (not my Katie) bun and some stars on the office front window.
Wednesday
It’s Secret Santa week at work and my received gifty of the day was a rainbow cookie chocolate mousse bombe, WHOA. I’m still working my way through it, a bite or two a day.
Blogger Grace Atwood‘s cat looks like someone I used to work with.
Thursday
Dusk.
Friday
Last workday before break is full of partying, gifting, food-giving and envelope stuffing.
Saturday
That Miracle of Miracles…finishing your shampoo and conditioner on the same day. And squeezing out the last dribble of baby oil makes it a perfect trifecta.
It’s the small things.
We drove into the city in the afternoon to look at lights, eat yummies, and soak up some Christmastime ambience. It can be hard in the city to find a quick parking spot when you see something good, so these sunset shots aren’t great, but it was a beautiful evening and at least we caught a bit of it.
Some happy little barricades.
We went to The Oculus. “The Greenwich Street entrance to the new transit hub at the rebuilt World Trade Center site in downtown Manhattan. Designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, the “Oculus” is a train station, plaza and shopping mall adjacent to the memorial site for the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. “Sunday Morning” asked photographer Daniel Jones to capture the new site, the exterior of which has been likened to a dove with clipped wings.” * You liken it to a dove…I’ll liken it to…uhm…something else.
I feel sure someone must have gotten in trouble for this.
We somehow had two dinners. With stops for coffee, tea and snacks in-between. .
Sunday
Preparing to go to dinner.
She’s so pretty
Look at our fancy food presentation! Impressive!
WAKE UP!!
I feel like lately, Week in Review has just been “Tuesday I wore a hat, Wednesday I washed my hair, Thursday I had a tuna sandwich for dinner, etc.,” so hopefully this one was a little more interesting.
Didn’t finish my book. Barely turned the tv on all week. Next week is VACATION so there’ll be plenty of time for rest and relaxation. Hopefully nothing comes up – like it usually does – and disturbs my beak.
Cheryl
Thank you for sharing your really intersting week. Have a wonderful Christmas and a relaxing break. Best wishes to you and your lovely girl.

She leaves the day after Christmas, but we’re gonna do some more city stuff in the morning before I drop her at the airport at 2. Then I’ll come home and go to the reading sofa for like 24 hours, ha.
Happy Holidays!
Michelle
Your daughter is beautiful – I hope the 2 of you have a wonderful time together.
That “dove”. ….. No, just….NO. And for a 9/11 memorial too…. Ugh. The Christmas lights were pretty, though.
Were the swan and turtle edible? The wings look like radish, but it’s hard to tell. In any case, that’s an impressive dish!!!
I love Jill the Squirrel too! She’s fun to watch.
Merry Christmas!!

NYC memorial, RIGHT?? I’m pretty sure the Freedom Tower was there first, so…I’m imaging someone got more than a stern talking to.
While I think they were “edible,” they were not there to be eaten. The body of the bird might have been daikon? It was so white and daikon has that texture and could have the size.
Oh, Jill. She always makes me smile 🙂
Happy Holidays!
Debbie from Illinois
Girl, you’ve been busy! So glad you are getting some time with your daughter. She is lovely. Merry Christmas!
bettyewp
Busy, yes. My To Do lists have To Do lists. I was just sitting here at the computer making to do lists for today tomorrow, Christmas, Thursday and Friday. I’m hoping that by the time my errands are done on Friday I’ll be done with responsibilities and obligations. Cuz I’m beat. And I know I don’t do a fraction of what other people do: I don’t cook for people anymore or have company over, I don’t have a ton of people to buy gifts for or presents to wrap. And yet…it still takes all my time and energy!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS, Debbie!!!
julia
Your girl on the couch with Janie! Priceless photo! Looks like you’re feeling better too. Enjoy every day of your vacation!
bettyewp
I look like I’m feeling better? Was I feeling poorly? I can’t even remember things like THAT! Everything passes so quickly. If it’s bad, who cares, it’s gonna be over before you know it. If it’s good, who cares, it’s gonna be over before you know it!
But yes, my tiny baby girl napping on the sofa with Miss Jane. A moment before she’d said “let me know when you’re ready” (we were heading out for a photo shoot then dinner), I said “I’m ready,” and she was out. Ha.
I have a love-hate relationship with the Christmas vacation. It’s a little longer usually than the others are….BUT So much time is spent shopping and cleaning and preparing and wrapping and visiting that it uses up a lot of time. Time that you could be laying on the sofa all by yourself reading a book.
(She’s never happy, that one, is she??)
HAPPY HOLIDAY! Xoxo

Girl, I’m tired just reading this!! Dang you were incredible. Although those boots could have come in handy….
I love how sweet you are with your daughter….it’s that mother/daughter thing that gets me every time.
XOXO

Ha, those boots!
Katie is SUCH a good human, it’s easy (usually!) to be sweet with her.
Happy Holidays, my friend!
Marceline Miller
this might be my favorite post so far 🙂
although i might say that to myself on every post 🙂
Thank heavens you didn’t buy the boots hahaha
oh a throwback to a recent post where a painting reminded you of putting on tights… i laughed and laughed, because i relate EXACTLY. i did recently buy some new tights from Berkshire that say on the package, “Easy On’ I would say that they are marginally easier to put on. But they are very nice quality.
Have been getting facebook ads for “Snag” brand tights. They say their plus-size tights are better because they’re designed for different body shapes, not just longer length. Are you familiar with those? I have some doubts because back in the long-ago when i wore pantyhose a lot, i tried some of the fancier ones with shaped legs, and never had any luck – they just sagged everywhere.
bettyewp
Ooh! Ooh! I have ordered two pair of Snag tights and am awaiting their arrival with bated breath! I will definitely report in on their (hopeful) wonderfulness!
Happy Holidays, Marceline!
