February was a weird month. I feel like I bought less. Yet more. Ha. The trip. That made the difference. Anyway, here are all my purchases – both what I kept and what I returned…and why.

WHAT I BOUGHT AND KEPT

Vanity Fair Women’s Beauty Back Full Figure Underwire Bra (76380)

I got out to Katie’s in San Diego and the hooks on my only bra (!! the other – yes, I have two “everyday” bras – had gone missing right before my trip) had gone rogue and were poking me all day…so I ordered my same style from Amazon and in two days I was pain free! Like the underwear, this has been my go-to bra for years. It’s probably not the best fit, but it’s serviceable, affordable, relatively comfortable, and always available on Amazon. I usually have one nude and one black (it’s the black one that went missing. have you seen it??).

Amazon Brand – Daily Ritual Women’s Plus Size Jersey Short-Sleeve Scoop Neck Swing T-Shirt

I accidentally put a hole right on the chest of this tee last fall, rendering it unwearable. It’s been out of stock for months, and as soon as I saw it available in my size, I grabbed it.

Omega C2100S High Juicer

Because I’ve been so enjoying juicing again, I thought Katie and Her Boy might also…so I ordered this before my trip and just had it delivered directly to her. Plus, selfishly, this way I didn’t have to give up my juice while I was away!

Mason Ball Jelly Jars-12 oz. Each – Quilted Crystal Style-Set of 4

Along with the juicer, I sent them these, also. They’re so good for when you want to make a couple days worth of juice at a time (my normal blend makes between 2-3 of these 12oz glasses). The lid keeps them fresh in the fridge and makes them easy to shake up right before drinking.

48 Rolls Washi Tape Set – 8mm Wide Decorative Masking Tape

Okay, don’t laugh. This one seems a little extravagant. But I wanted a variety of pretty tape for my monthly journal/scrapbooking. And admit it…you kinda want pretty tape now, too, don’t you?

Spiral Sketch Book Large Notebook Kraft Cover Blank Sketch Pad Wirebound Sketching for Drawing Painting 8.5×11-Inch (1 Pack) 200 Pages, 100 Sheets

And I needed a new book.

Lightweight Tripod 55-Inch, Aluminum Travel/Camera/Phone Tripod with Carry Bag, Maximum Load Capacity 6.6 LB, 1/4″ Mounting Screw for Phone, Camera, Traveling, Laser Measure, Laser Level

Another somewhat extravagant purchase. My good tripod was far too heavy to lug to CA…so I bought an inexpensive, lightweight one and had it shipped directly out to Katie. This way I could shoot outfit photos on her wonderful giant patio so I didn’t have to keep asking her to. Did I shoot outfits on her wonderful giant patio? I did not. But at least now I have a lightweight spare tripod to keep in the car just in case.

Celebrity Pink Jeans Women’s Plus Size Celebrity Pink Infinite Stretch Mid Rise Skinny Jean

I have really missed the medium wash blue skinny jeans that died recently. So I did an Amazon Prime wardrobe try-on while I was in CA. I ordered three pair, and kept one. They’re a pretty good fit, just need to be shortened a bit…but I’ll wear them a couple times first, then wash them before shortening.

CYBERPOWERPC – GAMING DESKTOP – AMD RYZEN 3 2300X – 8GB MEMORY – AMD RADEON RX 570 – 1TB HDD + 240GB SSD – BLACK

I thought I was getting a regular ‘ol computer. You know, a Dell or HP. Something I was familiar with. But Salesguy Kyle, upon listening to my photo editing frustrations, edged me over towards the pinball-arcade looking Gaming Computers and before I knew it I was signing on the dotted line for something with flashing lights and a million whoziwhatsits so that I could FLY through editing and blogging and scrolling Facebook. Once I got through The Weekend From Hell and got a monitor cable adaptor and some help from Adobe tech support, it’s been great. Fast, quiet, lovely. Truly. The power button is rimmed with ever-changing rainbow lights.

16GB MEMORY

The computer came with 8gb of RAM. I wanted more cuz I’m power-hungry. So they took out the 8 and put in 16. That’s just the way they do it. But now I can try and sell the 8GB (as well as the keyboard and mouse that came with the machine) on ebay to recoup a little of my costs. It cost about $40 to have it installed and took less than 15 minutes.

Microsoft Office: Home & Student Version

After all my years of computering I finally had to lay out $$ for the Office Suite. This computer has no cd-drive so I couldn’t use my old disc. So I bought the 2019 version. Yes, you can still purchase Office outright for a one-time fee. You can also subscribe for like $69.99 annually and get all the updates (and support) as they come in. I haven’t had an Office update in like nine years, so…I’m good. The bad news is that Publisher is not ON the Home & Student Version…even though I told Salesguy Kyle that I needed it. I didn’t realize it until I had downloaded it and Publisher was not there. And downloads are non-returnable. Which I get but boy is that aggravating in this case.

HDMI-TO-VGA ADAPTER

Because my monitor is old and my fancy computer is new, the monitor cable was outdated so I had to get an adapter. The good news is it only took 18 aggravating hours to figure out this problem and get it rectified (#sarcasm).

REPLACEMENT EARRING

Another annoying purchase. But…better than the alternative of having one earring without a mate. It actually just arrived today. And I have to say, the clasp is much tighter than the original pair! I’m going to take them to a jeweler to see if I can have Original Earring Catch tightened up as much as New Earring Catch.

THINGS I BOUGHT AND RETURNED

WATER-RESISTANT SHERPA-LINED QUILTED JACKET FOR WOMEN

Water-Resistant Sherpa-Lined Quilted Jacket for Women

Right after my post about taking a long time to warm to new trends, I fell in love fast and hard with these liner jackets I just started seeing last fall. Some look a little more “bomber jacket” and some have a more Asian vibe. I wasn’t really conscious of the difference til I got this one and tried it on…and realized it’s really the other one I want. I like this one but the XXL is out of stock in the green (the color I want) and XXL is already going to be a stretch for me on an Everlane item; the XL would definitely be too small. So…the search continues. I know I don’t NEED it. It’s not like it fills some purpose the green Loft utility jacket doesn’t…I just fell in love with the style. Which is the very definition of “you don’t need this.”

DELL – LATITUDE 14″ REFURBISHED LAPTOP – INTEL CORE I5 – 8GB MEMORY – 500GB HARD DRIVE – GRAY

Front Standard. Dell - Latitude 14" Refurbished Laptop - Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Gray.

The POC (Piece of Crap) laptop I bought right before my trip so I could work on some things while I was away..but that TORTURED me. I wiped it clean and took it back to the store as soon as I came back to NY. When I get my tax refund I’ll start looking for a new desktop. Mine is slowly dying. There are programs that will no longer update and it’s slow as molasses. Very annoying for someone who spends so much time on the computer!

EVERLANE COTTON QUILTED JACKET IN CLOVER

I couldn’t resist…even though I was pretty sure it was not going to fit. But the only way I was going to get it out of my head was to buy it and see it on me. So when I saw it come back into stock in XXL I grabbed it. But I was right. It didn’t fit. Honestly, it wasn’t the worst. For years I bought jackets and coats that fit no better than this, cuz that’s all that was available. Sometimes fat girls just have to come to terms with the fact that coats aren’t going to button. But…yeah. No. It’s been shipped back.

SHADOW VEGAN LEATHER CROSSBODY SATCHEL

URBAN ORIGINALS Shadow Vegan Leather Crossbody Satchel, Main, color, GREY

I’ve had a lighter-colored summery bag on my wish list for ages…since I started making these shopping lists! I bought a used rattan one off ebay I think two summers ago that I don’t love and there’s something in it that pokes me in the side when I have it on my shoulder. This bag looked a little more more like very light taupe online but was more silvery grey in person…and the shoulder strap was very short. I actually slipped it over my head and tried it as a belt bag…but the strap was a little short even for that, and the bag itself too big. It’s been shipped back and the search continues.

The trouble is, I’m in love with Lizzie Hadfield’s Celine bag – and now that’s what I have in mind. Well, I’m not going to find that in my price range, so. It’s a frustrating search. * I’m adding this after this post was published…but I just found the Celine hobo bag in that chamois color. One sold on Vestiare in December for $1,533.20. USED. Ha. Guess I need to get over that bag!

Don’t you hate when you see something very specific and then you try for the rest of eternity to find that EXACT thing? And you never find it. Ever. So you have to SETTLE. Ugh.

And that’s all for February!
