Week in Review: Week 214
TUESDAY (Monday was in last week’s Week in Review) (cuz god forbid you miss a day of MY scintillating life!)
Uhm. Worked.
Ooh, watched a new Netflix miniseries (well, I watched the first two (of four) parts. “Unorthodox.” Very good. Based on a true story about a young Jewish girl (19) making an escape from her Hasidic community in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I’ve since watched the rest of it and it was very good. The lead actress was excellent. I recommend it if you’d like an alternative to Tiger King (#smh).
WEDNESDAY
Worked. Today was one of those days where it was hard to focus on The To Do List and actually accomplish any one thing. Frustrating and draining, but unproductive.
I did leave the building in the afternoon for a post office and Dairy Barn run. I’m still trying to perfect my mask situation. I’ve tried the folded handkerchief with ponytail holders, and it’s too many layers against my nose and mouth. I sweat, can’t breathe, and it fogs up my glasses. Today I cut a piece of decorator fabric, a polished cotton, but it was only one layer thick vs the bandana’s like 5. Still too hot and it was stiff in a weird way.
THURSDAY
I had NUTHIN today. No energy oomph drive anything.
We had a good rain. April showers and all that.
Look how cute my grandpuppeh is. I still think she looks fake. Like a stuffed animal photoshopped into different settings. If I hadn’t seen video of her I would not believe she was real.
I missed ONE DAY of dishwashing. I’m one person. How is this even possible??
FRIDAY
Phew.
That lasted for five minutes.
I’m so ready for it to be Friday. Everyone is all “EVERYDAY’S THE SAME.” But it’s not.
Watched the series finale of Modern Family. It was not a favorite show, but I always watched and enjoyed it. It’s sad to see another “nice people, nice story” show bite the dust.
SATURDAY
Slept late. Was lazy. Piddled. Zoomed with friends in the afternoon. Had a cocktail. Alright, two cocktails. Watched a movie. “Dean” with Demitri Martin and Kevin Klein. Quiet. Which is just what I needed.
New York’s Governor and Mayor are clashing over the closing of NY schools for the rest of the year. One says “they’re closed.” The other says “he can’t say that.” Concerning.
SUNDAY
Happy Easter. Doesn’t seem Eastery at all here. I thought I would make a cake but it hasn’t happened yet. My mother always used to make a lemon coconut cake in the shape of a bunny…like this
I can’t recall if she made the face, but she did the shape. We all loved chocolate but she seemed to make more lemon cakes than chocolate.
Some things I’ve found:
You can take some online art courses through MoMA for free.
Watch some Broadway shows online for $8.99/month after a free trial period.
Free Andrew LLoyd Weber shows on YouTube
Okay. Sorry for such a boring week. Can’t promise that the coming week will be any less boring…but I’ll come up with something!
How are you doing? I hope everyone’s staying safe.
Karen
That is NYC only not all NYS schools. Interesting to watch the showdown. I think in the end the mayor will end up with his schools closed anyway. Who needs Netflix?

Yeah, I realize that it’s only the city so far. I just can’t imagine the city closing down and us re-opening. The Island is not as bad as the city but it’s in worse shape than so many other places that are already closing. Nineteen states have already said they’re closing schools for the rest of the year. New York State is by far the hardest hit state 🙁 Obviously, what do I know, and I can’t even imagine what all has to go into making a decision like that but, when so many already have, are we really going to not? Whoa, THAT was a sentence!

I’ll check out Unorthodox thanks for the recommendation.I watched all of Tiger King and all I can say about it is OMG. Beautiful photos as always.

OMG is pretty much the main reaction I’ve seen to TK. Haha my dirty dish pictures? I need to make a point of getting some better pictures this week!

Let me know if you see any shows, etc!

I laughed at the dishes….well because at least in our household there is breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and then of course another snack. That’s how there can be so many dishes!!!
I may have to share those free shows in my email….It’s nice to have something somewhat cultural…

Yeah, the counter and sink are full again. Sigh. It’s a never-ending battle.

Dishes, those little buggers multiply so fast!
I saw a tip for that the other day about wearing masks with glasses. Put on glasses so they are sitting on top of mask on your nose, holding it down. May need to scoot mask up a tad on the nose so it is held down by glasses, trying not to block vision. No more steamy glasses. I fuss with it a bit but eventually get everything in position and it does work.
Have a good week!

I’ll try that, Laurie, thanks!
