MONDAY

You already saw this day I worked at work so I could do my laundry – which seems far safer than going to the laundromat. And I just had to stop in this yummy light and do pictures. This was a fun outfit.

TUESDAY

Stayed inside all day in nightgown and kitten paw sweater. But I feel this is a graphic tee I can get behind.

WEDNESDAY

On the way back from my post office and Dairy Barn (drive-through convenience store), I saw these gorgeous trees in a little park with no people.

I just cut these Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. They’re the light wash ones that were my longest jeans. Yes, they look much better now…but I can no longer wear them to work (you know, when I go back to work) cuz of the frayed hem. A unfortunate trade-off.

And I love an oversized white blouse over jeans look. I wished I’d had somewhere else to go.

I keep forgetting to show you my “left the building” outfits with my gloves and face mask!

THURSDAY

I was not feeling up to getting the tripod out of the car. Felt very lethargic today. Not VIRUS SICK, just…body tired. I’d been so good for so long about starting my day with protein…but I finished all the chicken a couple days ago and forgot to take the hamburger meat out of the freezer so…I had cereal yesterday and today. Which I haven’t had in probably close to a YEAR. Was just one of the things that dropped away from my diet when I started being “more mindful of carbs.” So for two days, no morning protein, and had carbs for breakfast…and look how quickly I feel like crap. Pretty quickly.

This is a dress I’ve had for some time…I think I got it in 2015. It’s one of Old Navy’s standard stretchy knit dresses they always do. It’s fine. I don’t know if it’s black or navy…and as such, I can wear it as both. It’s just sorta blah, droopy…a little too long (it’s raised up a bit here from my left arm holding the top of my camera), the neckline is large and a little too droopy…and the shoulders are never quite right. I’ve worn it alone, with a long drapey green utility vest, with an infinity scarf, with my long black duster length cardigan, with a denim jacket. I’ve worn it a lot over the past five years. It just never excites me. And I feel like I’m always futzing with the neck and shoulders.

It goes on the chopping block (aka donation pile) then when I’m straightening up it gets dumped back in the closet and eventually winds up back on a hanger. If I had ten dresses it would be my tenth favorite. But I had two zoom meetings this afternoon and figured I’d give it one last ride.

And as long as I wasn’t leaving the house, I thought I’d try pair of Amazon Prime Wardrobe shoes that came in the mail today. I’ve been obsessing over red d’orsay flats for summer even though I don’t really know how much need I have for them (how cute would they have been with yesterday’s outfit?? or with any of my light blue/chambray summer dresses?). These are cute but not quite right. A) the heel slips off as I walk…and I’m only walking a few indoor steps. They’d never make it out in the real world. And B) see how the toe lifts up off the floor ever so slightly? I hate that. And it just gets worse the more you wear them and they end up looking like elf shoes. But they are cute, and the shoe is comfortable. These are a 9½, my normal size. A 9 might alleviate the heel slipping problem…but wouldn’t help the elf toe.

FRIDAY

Caleb’s watching you.

No, I have not lost my damn mind. I know I have on two different shoes. I’ve been searching High and Low for black flats for ages and just did an Amazon Prime Wardrobe order – oh wait, I told you about that yesterday. Okay, SO, I got two pairs (two pair? or two pairs?) of black flats. When I put this outfit on (and I will get to the outfit) my first thought was black stripes, black polka dots, definitely black shoes! But no. I think it’s too harsh with the “mixed blacks” in the outfit. So I tried the chestnut ones thinking, while the color is not the same as the tee, the tonality is the same – warm, goldy-mustard-chestnut-ish. And I think they work much better. I wanted to show the two and I how I came to decide on the one over the other.

And sadly, the black flats are not keepers. That straight cut right across my high instep HURTS. Would that stretch out? Maybe. But if it didn’t, they’d be unwearable. It was painful to have them on for the five minutes it took to set up and take the picture. A foot with a lower-profile instep (that sounds like a technical foot term, right?) would be fine in it.

So, the outfit. Still trying to do something with the clothing misfits hanging in my closet. This is another Old Navy stretchy tee dress. This one is sleeveless. And I like it. I think the black and white striping is perfect. I’m very particular about the black to white ratio on striped things. Ha. I’m so ridiculous. BUT. I yam what I yam. However, after 4-5 years of wearing and washing, it’s looking a little dingy on the top. So. How would it be if I covered that up? I always like pattern mixing, so the polka dot tee was a happy choice for me. I’m a spazz at the “knotting up tee shirts” process, but…I think this is kinda cute.

Oh, and I really liked how just a tiny bit of the striped dress peeked out of the v-neck of the tee. It got kind of wonky around the shoulder with me playing around with the CRAPPY tripod (cuz I still haven’t been out to the car for the good one), but…the concept is cute.

Again, I don’t know that it’s work appropriate, and because of that I don’t really know when I would wear something like this. Not on weekend outings because there’s too much walking. Not beach cocktails cuz two layers on top would be too hot. Not weeknight dinners out with the girls cuz I usually go straight from work and I’m not gonna change into a second outfit to go to the diner! An outfit like this has a VERY small window in my life. It’s perfect for mid-spring coronavirus quarantine and that’s about it.

And that’s another week of coronavirus wear! This was a fun outfit week, like playing dress-up. Do you have a favorite look?
