I’m coming at’ya with another style session today – ha ha ha – that’s my deejay vibe, can ya dig it? Listen, I’ve been working 12+ hour days for….so many days, ha. My brain is SO OVER IT and yet…it’s still not over. So if I seem to be a little slap-silly…that’s why.

Anyway. Style Session. This is part of the #stylesession I do on Instagram every other Wednesday with @jtouchofstyle, @jbowenandcompany and #seechele_styles. Today’s style theme is YELLOW. Not my favorite. It’s bright and cheerful and happy…all the things I’m not, ha. I’m more taupe and greige and don’t look at me.  Which is not a physical thing, it’s a mental thing. I don’t need all the social anxiety of people noticing me and wanting to engage with me. Let me just watch and listen and disappear into the crowd (or woodwork, whichever is most appropriate).

At first I didn’t even think I HAD any yellow…but I do actually have several items in golden or mustard yellow. No lemon or sunshine. I like the warmer tones that are a little more toward orange…and even a little greyed down, like a mustard.

So the first look is one you’ve seen before. Golden yellow cardigan from Old Navy, geometric print top from Bobeau, cognac espadrilles from Aldi, cognac tote from Able…and Celebrity Pink skinny jeans from Amazon. I’ve had them since February when I went to California but I didn’t get them altered before LOCKDOWN so…if they look a little wrinkled in the knees it’s cuz I keep pulling up the length (too long). This was the longest I’ve worn them and they were really comfy…like Work From Home comfy. I just need to have therm shortened once I can comfortably go into a tailor.

Anyway…I love these warmer shades of yellow with blue denim, any wash, from light to dark.

If you look at the color wheel, this color that’s in-between yellow and orange is the direct contrast to blue. Bam.

I also really like wearing cognac (or chestnut, any mid-tone warm-hued variation) accessories with this yellow tone. It’s contrasty without being harsh…and they’re sort of in the deep orange color family themselves, so they complement the warm yellows perfectly.

I like pairing this more mustardy top from Lane Bryant with olive green like this Loft utility jacket. It’s a more yellow-toned green than blue-toned green. And again, the blue denim is a perfect contrast to the mustard, even in this light-mid wash.

These are two ways I incorporate yellow into my wardrobe. Are you a yellow person?
