Week in Review: Week 240
MONDAY
Worked from home. Don’t think I left the building. Intended to go for a walk after work but.
The End.
TUESDAY
Worked in the office. The building is still very quiet as we don’t allow any “outsiders” in. Deliveries just get left in the outer lobby, no parent meetings on-site, no therapists, no bus drivers coming in to the use the bathroom, etc. It’s so nice. You don’t realize how much of a distraction/disturbance something is, sometimes, til it’s gone. People aren’t even allowed to come into OUR office, and usually people come through for supplies, mail, to make copies, etc. And then they stay and chat. Or two people will come in for something, and then they’ll stand there, in our office, and chat with one another. That’s annoying. And now, none of that. At the risk of sounding too light and disrespectful, Thank You, Coronavirus.
Came home and just felt wiped out. Did not even sit at the computer. Went straight to the sofa for TV Time, and watched the last five episodes of When Our Love Blooms. Sigh. Sometimes you just need a night off.
WEDNESDAY
Worked from home.
Thursday
Wow.
Friday
All work and no play makes Bettye a very dull girl.
SATURDAY
Oh come on.
SUNDAY
Sunday Funday! Aka: The One Where I Left the Building. Friend and I went north to 7 Lakes Drive, which is about an 18-mile road through a large state park. We’re just shy of peak leaf peeping here in southern NY but there were still some nice views.
We had a nice lunch – this was an apricot tartine, very yummy…I think I can recreate it less sugary.
Stopped at a plant/farm/antiques place on the way back. I found my new boyfriend.
And home in time to finish up a little work and get to the sofa for more Kdrama! I’m obsessed.
what i’m reading
Tiny Love Stories If you don’t have much time for reading but still enjoy a story, these “tiny love stories” from The New York Times are charming.
what i’m watching
I’ll Go To You When the Weather is Nice. Quiet and gentle with a darling male lead, ticks many of my boxes. About halfway through.
The Stray Goat. I watched an actual movie one night, between two series (I can’t figure out what the plural of series is so just pretend) – it was a little sweet but a little tragic. I tried to find an English subtitled trailer but nope.
what i’m listening to
Okay. I’m going to say it out loud to the world. I am BTS-curious 🙂 If you don’t know who they are (I may have been the last person on the planet who didn’t), they are a HUGE K-pop band. Seven talented young men…their music is not really in my wheelhouse but I’ve been so enjoying their music videos and behind-the-scenes videos, that I am liking them and then I find myself drawn to some of the songs. There’s a couple documentaries I’ll watch when I can tear myself away from the K-dramas.
I realize my entertainment focus has been a little narrow lately. I’m in deep 🙂 It’s so nice though to have all new options for stories, songs, actors, etc. When I have a new interest I Go All In. And it either blows over in a month…or I’m in for life. We’ll see where this takes me. Last night I was looking at AirBnBs in Japan. It’s good to have a dream.

I’m sure part of your obsession is because of your parents, right??? But it’s good to look at other cultures. I think we learn a lot that way. Especially to realize how we are all alike.

Thanks for the pics of Harriman State Park. I lived in NJ many years and went hiking and kayaking there often. I remember Auntie Els! I live on Long Island now and love the ocean and bays, but miss those mountains and lakes.
bettyewp
Oh that’s funny that you recognized Auntie Els! What a small world 🙂
We always see TONS of hikers when we go…and say NEXT TIME, ha ha. I did go there with my Caleb a few times and we HIKED.
I, too, love the mountains. One of my SoCal loves (among many other things) is seeing the mountains in the distance wherever you are.

Oh I love all your pictures of the park. My favorite is the cat tails and the lake. We barely have any fall colors here. Maybe soon. My favorite time of the year.
Grace & Peace, Iris

Fall here is like a sunset – just when you think its as good as it can get, it gets better.
And then it rains 🙁
