Workday Wardrobe ~ Nov. 16-20
MONDAY
Just kickin’ the leaves. As one does.
Top: Tahari merino wool sharkbite top, size 3x. So old. I have it in this blue and one in oatmealy taupe and I’ve worn them both a million times. I got them from Marshalls in I think 2013 and felt like I was spending a small fortune on them (they were like $34.99 each ha ha), oh how things change. But at this point my cost per wear is like…Marshalls owes ME money. And I will say now that I am looking for comparable items, that I got a bargain, because apparently plus size merino wool anything is a sparkle rainbow unicorn and good luck finding something under a whole lotta money. And I hate doing that to you guys, so if you wanted something like this I’d say check out online resellers like ebay and poshmark
Top Under Top: H&M tee shirt that’s a little short to wear on its own but has the best neckline that I own for wearing under things. It’s SOOPER thin and drapey so is nice for layering. This is the same fabric content but not the same collar 🙂
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, 22 short. The Gloria Vanderbilts have become my “winter” jeans cuz they’re longer and a little roomier fit than my summery cropped or skinny jeans.
Sneakers: Converse Chuck Taylor Shoreline slip-ons. I’m loving these so much. They’re cute AND comfortable.
TUESDAY
I’m all officey today.
Top: Loft Plus High-Low Tunic Shirt, size 22/24
Cardigan: Old Navy, no longer available in this color but comes in brown and a pretty green. I’m wearing a 2x and wish I had a smaller size now.
Pants: J Crew High-rise Cameron pant in four-season stretch, navy, size 24
Shoes: Taupe Me Too Cambrie Loafer
WEDNESDAY
Uhm. Yeah. A couple comments about this.
I’ve mastered (and by “mastered”I mean I can finally remember them. Sort of.) 2.5 steps of a 900 step BTS dance. Adding “click remote shutter” to the mix knocked me off the rails 100/100. Don’t judge.
I thought I’d give you a different view of the living room. I think I like showing myself and my life at its worst so there are no surprises. If you came to my apartment you could not go “ew it’s a disgusting mess.” You already knew that. Coming here is a tacit acceptance of that fact.
Those are leaves on the floor. They get pulled in from the patio by the suction of the door opening. In my world, when something is on the floor, it stays on the floor.
Sweater: Kohl’s Cashmere, size 3x, old. Yeesh, closest I can find.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, 22 short.
Bare Feet: Very difficult doing shuffly hoppy dance steps in sneakers on carpet. Bare feet makes it slightly better. But I dream of slippery floors and socks.
THURSDAY
Cold enough for a chunky turtleneck and a real coat. Winter’s a’ comin’.
Sweater: Loft Navy Poncho Turtleneck, 2x. No longer available.
Coat: J Crew Daphne Boiled Wool Topcoat, size 22
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, 22 short.
Sneakers: Converse Chuck Taylor Shoreline slip-ons.
FRIDAY
Yay! I finally managed to get a picture of the stripey top I keep wearing and not getting a picture of!
Top: Old Navy, size 3x. No longer available.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, 22 short, self-cropped.
Sneakers: Keds Champions
Oofah. That felt like a long week. At least next week is a short one!

“In my world, when something is on the floor, it stays on the floor.” I need a T shirt saying this. I love how you keep it real!! Can you give us a link for the dance you’re working on?

OH I’M SO EXCITED YOU ASKED!!! Ha ha. Not to hold you hostage and force you to come back for tomorrow’s Week in Review, but (SHOCKINGLY) my response is elaborate and I have links and embedded videos and a whole explanation. Of course 🙂 So I thought I’d share it in an actual blog post. Cuz I know how everyone is on the edge of their seat just waiting for what KThing I’ll become obsessed with next. Ahem.
🙂 STAY TUNED for Bettye Turns Twelve.

Look at you! The elegant gazelle!! Who looks at the floor anyway? It’s way down there.

Ha ha. I was actually kinda sorta leaping from rock to rock. My leaps just don’t get much “air.”
Yeah, stupid floor.

I love that you are honest and funny about your place….and let’s be honest. Your place isn’t bad at all…have you ever seen the hoarder shows?? LOL!!!
And I have a yellow striped top…I need to pull it out!!

Oh gosh those hoarder shows. I can’t anymore. Curiosity used to draw me to them but…it hits JUST a little close to home. And I don’t REALLY consider myself a hoarder. There’s a whole explanation of THAT so I’ll save it for another time. But yeah, I can imagine that’s how OTHER people could view my space: “a hoarder lives here.”

These are some of the BEST outfits I’ve ever seen! I mean it. Love your Converse, love your hair, love your frayed jeans, love your dance. (I have a thrifted plus size J. Jill merino sweater that I’m trying to make last forever because I will never find one again at a reasonable price).
bettyewp
Aww, thanks Carol! Wow! I feel like I just won the OOTD Awards! Is that a thing? Oh that should so be a thing.
Ooh, hang onto that JJIll sweater! I do find my things from that brand last forever, so fingers crossed.
Yeah, every year I look at those two Tahari tops and I’m like “am i little bored of these yet??” but…they’re just so useful. The super-thin-but-still-warm items have really proven themselves to be winners in my wardrobe the past few years.

So enjoy your upbeat energy & pragmatic nature! It’s refreshing. Keep dancing in the leaves & kicking the carpet, TeeHe.
My attitude is, “What floor?”; I can’t see it anyway w/o glasses. Reason I wear bright sparklie polish on the tippie-toes.
bettyewp
I have always said it’s so much easier to clean the house without glasses on. Cuz you just don’t SEE all the dirt! I really don’t wear my glasses in the house (I’m nearsighted) other than to watch tv. So on the rare occasion I actually walk through the whole apartment with them on I’m like OH. It’s not good 🙂
🙂

I love that sweater in the first picture!!!

Thanks. That’s a funny one, that cobalt blue. It holds a weird memory for me that I always think of when I reach for it. The day after Thanksgiving 2016 a friend and I drove into Brooklyn to walk on the promenade. On my way to pick her up I had a very disconcerting dizzy spell (I’m no stranger to dizzy spells, have always suffered from them due to low blood sugar, but this one was Very Different) while I was driving. Not good. It eventually cleared up and I continued on my way to get her and sort of forgot all about it. Later when we were walking in Brooklyn it happened again so I just sat on a bench while she did her thing. I really forgot all about it until 3 months later when I was so anemic due to blood loss and was diagnosed with cancer and I was like OHHH. Yeah, that would make sense. I’d had a couple other smaller episodes but never really put it altogether, I was just always like a) I need to eat something and b) I am really out of shape. Anyway, we did an outfit photo shoot for the blog that day in the cobalt sweater and everytime I see those pictures and am reminded of that day…the first time I every really FELT like…sick…even though I wasn’t aware of it at the time…it’s just sort of a weird vibe.
But thanks 🙂 ha ha ha ha
