Plus Size Outfit of the Day ~ March 6-12
The weather changes
Cool one day, warm the next
Who knows what to wear!
SATURDAY
Uhm. Uh. The dog ate it.
SUNDAY
Went for a walk at a local arboretum with a friend. It was cold, but I get so warmed up with any physical activity, that I opted to walk sans coat, and with the long underwear under the shaker knit, I was fine. We walked about 2 miles and sat on a bench for a bit to chat and then went for coffee nearby and ended up with soup and sandwiches at a table out on the sidewalk.
My life should be made into a movie. A THRILL A MINUTE. Ha ha.
Mock Neck: American Eagle XXL (their largest size, roughly comparable to a 3x). Comparable here.
Silk Underwear Tee: Land’s End, 3x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, Frisco wash, 20 short * gifted by Gloria Vanderbilt
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons
Coat: Old Navy, 2x.
MONDAY
Work from home. Zoom meeting so clothing not optional. It’s sunny so I’m thinking maybe a walk outside after work.
Spoiler Alert: It’s actually freezing out so no outside thing ever happened.
I will say I like this cream w light grey combo a lot.
Crewneck: BP/Nordstrom, 3x
Cardigan: Charlotte Russe, 3x, old.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, Scottsdale wash, 20 short
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons
TUESDAY
Work at work. SPRINGY. Went with a light jacket vs heavy coat. WOOHOO.
I still feel a little cringe when I see myself in this color in the mirror. Ha. It’s like HEY! BETTYE’S HERE!!! and I prefer to slip in and out quietly…
Crewneck: Treasure & Bond/Nordstrom, 3x. Also comes in olive green, rust (LOVE), taupey light brown, burgundy
Tee: H&M, 3x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, black wash, 20 short
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons
WEDNESDAY
Woohoo, a new thingy! It’s exactly a color I was looking for. Unlike some others (I’m looking at YOU Too Bright Blue Sweater from Yesterday). Now if I could just find this color in a nice button-down, my life would surely be complete.
Pros and cons of this are: the color is good, it feels good, and the v-neck is a good size. Cons are it’s a little longer than I’m aiming for these days, and the sleeves a little long (SWEIN). But overall, I’m pleased with this ebay purchase.
V-neck: Isaac Mizrahi, 3x. I see some comparable sweaters on Poshmark
Tee: H&M, 3x
Jeans: Charlotte Russe Refuge skinny jeans, 24 short
Shoes: Aerosoles Betunia flats
THURSDAY
Breaking out a spring-summery thing! Cuz it’s gonna be 70 today! And probably a third of my clothes are in the dirty clothes hamper! And I’m sick and tired of everything else!
Seriously though, I’m still in love with this top, 5 years later. It’s rayon and fluid and lightweight, all my favorite things. And it’s bright in a way I can handle. It’s fun.
It feels weird to not be layered.
Floral Top: American Rag Co, 3x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, Crystal White, 20 short
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons
FRIDAY
The Magical Friday Fairies have gifted us with yet another Last Day of the Work Week. I’m grateful!
Also grateful that I found this long-missing cardigan. It’s a tad on the small side but I wanted to get in a wear or two before it gets too warm for it. It’s lightweight wool and my favorite, hip-length, v-neck with buttons and pockets style cardigan. I really like the mustardy gold color with the dark charcoal grey, and I like the layering of all three pieces (white tee, stripe shirt, sweater).
It’s a Friday Win, woohoo.
Striped v-neck: Old Navy, 3x
Tee: H&M, 3x
Cardigan: Dean & White, 3x – old, old, I think pre-2009.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, Frisco wash, 20 short * gifted
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline slip-ons

The dog ate it made me laugh! 😁
I think your Friday look is my favorite. I wouldn’t have thought to put those colors together but they really work! One question: are your slip on converse shoes comfortable? They’re cute and they’ve got me to thinking I might try a pair.
bettyewp
ARE THE CONVERSE SLIPONS COMFORTABLE?? Does a bear youknowwhat in the woods? If you see me wearing something day after day after day, you can trust that it’s super comfortable. I’m a child that way. These are SURPRISINGLY comfortable. I’ve had fake converse before and they were like walking on slabs of concrete. These have some sort of magic in the insoles. Not in a spongy marshmallowy way, but in a “damn they got the support JUST RIGHT” way. And I have had bad bad feet in the past (I think covid cured them) so I don’t wear anything on my feet that is not SUPER pleasing to walk in. I actually just ordered a second pair in a different color. PLUS, slip-ons without LOOKING like slip-ons! I highly recommend.
Melissa
Haha That settles it— I’m totally buying a pair! 😁

Same weather issues here in the NW. I tend to opt for being too cold over too warm if at all possible. I really like the color combination, proportions and fit of Mondays outfit. As far as sleeve length goes I would just roll up the cuff on any that are a bit long to keep me from fussing at them all day. Also love the new colors on you, and the bohemian top is special. I love the flowy hippie styles of the 60’s. I was in grade school at that time and Mom had a whole other idea of what I should wear. I still look for things that remind me of the style.

I do cuff up sometimes but man do I hate that. I always feel like I’m 6 years old and my mother bought me a sweater that I “can grow into” and she cuffs the HECK out of the sleeves! And they’re all bunchy and bulky and need constant readjustment throughout the day (ha, I SOUND like a 6-year-old). I know that big bulky cuffs are a trend thing right now, but it’s not for me. I have one sweater (now on the “I never want to wear this again so please just make it go away” pile) that has them sewn-in and that one feature makes me hate that sweater, even though it is a lovely fleshy-pink.
Oh yeah, for sure I never got to partake in the 60-70s hippie vibe. I don’t think at the time I was even aware it existed. I was all HORSEY. Even now, I can’t wear a lot of it…I love the way it looks, but am not comfortable with the way it FEELS on me. Like I’m playing dress-up. I’m not artsy or bohemian. I am conservative and neutral (in my dress). But I love seeing the look on others and out in the world. Have you ever seen Johnny Was clothing? It’s lovely (EXPENSIVE but).
Pauline
Just love you in the blue sweater also the pink/mauve one.

Thanks, Pauline. I’m struggling with the blue one, ha ha. Lesson learned. If it doesn’t feel quite right, DON’T BUY IT, even as a workaround for the thing you REALLY want but can’t find.
