Week in Review: Week 279
Every day is pretty much the same these days. Except the one day I go out for fun. Otherwise I’m just here in the apartment doing the things I do.
MONDAY
Uhm. I dunno. Everyone else came back to work today for the first day of summer session (which is exactly the same as all the other sessions), so there was that. I was semi-productive when I got home. But I feel my to-do list will outlive ME at this point.
TUESDAY
Current Situation:
I’m labeling stuff in the apartment with hangul (Korean characters) and romanized pronunciation in the interest of learning more vocabulary. Plus, it’s an interesting decor style 🙂 Or not. Whatever. They’re pretty when they flutter in the breeze from the fan.
Janie won’t stay still, or I’d label her, too.
Vocabulary is the easy part. I’m a good memorizer once I take the time to practice. But now I’m getting to the point where I need to know parts of speech and sentence structure and grammar rules…and I can’t even remember those for ENGLISH!
WEDNESDAY
I was feeling a little off at work…and when I got home I walked straight to the sofa, plopped myself down next to Janie (DIDN’T EVEN TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER!!!), and promptly fell asleep for almost 90 minutes. Oofah.
It was lovely. Naps are lovely. But they’re a luxury I don’t really feel I can afford right now. There’s Too Much To Do!
After that I really never got myself together so, other than The Lovely Nap, it was sort of a wasted day.
THURSDAY
Whoa. WAY Overslept. I’m supposed to BE at work at 8am, but it was a text from the other girl in my office at 8:24 that woke me up! Ack! I flew around and managed to get there by 9:05. Oops.
In my defense, I WAS Very Productive when I got home – I tiktoked, OOTD’d, wrote the color combination blog post, made an actual meal (well, instant ramen but still. It wasn’t cheese&crackers or grapes…AGAIN), and watched two shows before going to sleep.
Go Me.
FRIDAY
The highlight of the day (besides it being Friday), was SUSHI! Fortunately, the girl in my office also likes sushi, cuz other than Katie, I have no other sushi friends and I WANT SUSHI. Ha ha.
SATURDAY
Was oh so very productive <- Not Sarcasm.
SUNDAY
FINALLY THEY LET ME GO OUTSIDE.
My friend and I went to the Gem & Mineral exhibit at the Museum of Natural History.
We liked renaming the rocks.
Fluffy.
New York City Skyline rock.
Handmade Soap rock.
Really Big One (that’s what she said).
Crocodile Rock.
I said what I said.
The colors were so amazing.
It was pretty cool.
Thought of our Iris…
We also went into the bioluminescence exhibit. It felt a lot like my bedroom at night so we didn’t stay long.
Then we had a lunch at a place in Harlem called Jacob’s Pickles. Guess what they had a lot of. I was just happy for lots of icy sweet tea. It was HOT. We had a nice sidewalk spot in the shade and it was lovely. I SO LOVE the outdoor dining in the city right now cuz it combines two of my favorite things: eating and people watching. I very happily watched cute dogs, cute guys 😉 and a cute outfit or two walk by while we ate.
Spotted this in an antique shop window and am obsessed.
And that’s all she wrote! Tomorrow we start it all over again.
Lovely
The exhibition is really interesting! These rocks are so unique!

They WERE! SO many different kinds! It amazes how they are all discovered.
bettyewp
Right? There are SO many kinds, who knew??
Pamela Gray
I LOVE it when you include your ‘object photographs.’
bettyewp
Thanks, Pamela. I try to remember to do that. I spend so much time in the apartment these days…and there is really nothing overtly visually appealing about it. So I try to do the exercise of FINDING things – and it def gets hard cuz not a lot changes. I so miss having nice light coming in.
bettyewp
Thanks. It gets challenging to keep finding new object photographs in the apartment. Not much changes. But I’m trying 🙂
Sally in St Paul
Oh man, those vocabulary labels all over the place took me back about 20 years to when I had German vocabulary all over my apartment! I have forgotten SO MUCH German, but I will always remember das Fenster (the window) from the post-it note sign, haha.
bettyewp
Ha ha ha, windows shall now forever be known by me as das fenster!
Some of them are so easy, they’re so “english” sounding…guess what a “lamp-euh” is. Or a “telaybision.” There are a lot of words that are the English word just with “euh” at the end.
Pauline
Didn’t you buy the pretty little handbag?
bettyewp
It was so cute, right?? That message, “courage, my love,” just kills me. But, alas, the shop was closed. And honestly, other than a photo shoot, I probably never would have ACTUALLY worn it.
Probably.
Maybe.
I wonder how much it was.
