Plus Size Outfit of the Day ~ July 17-24
The week. The clothes.
SATURDAY
It’s hot and humid. I want to stay cool. I don’t really care how it looks, haha. My personal comfort is my Number One Priority.
Light blue and white LOOKS cool (temperature cool, not “I’m so cool” cool) (cuz I’m so NOT “cool” cool). Lightweight, loose-fitting Tencel dress and oversized, unbuttoned linen shirt FEEL cool.
Dress: Old Navy, 3x. 2016. Comparable
Linen Shirt: Ji Jill, 4x. 2019. Similar
Sandals: Birkenstock Arizona in taupe suede. 2020
SUNDAY
For someone who never actively looks for blue clothing, I sure have a lot of it!
Today was a trip into the city to the museum and lunch. Which means WALKING. And sweating. The chambray shirt came off immediately and shoved into my bag. I am always optimistic that SOMEWHERE is going to be so cold that I need a second layer of clothing.
It never is.
The rayon top underneath is sleeveless and lightweight and loose, nice for super hot weather.
Chambray Button-down: Charlotte Russe, 3x. 2016. Comparable.
Navy Top: mumblemumblesomebrandcarriedatmarshalls, 3x. 2016. Comparable.
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short. 2021
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline Slip-ons, 2021
MONDAY
I really like the pattern mixing on this top but I do NOT like the lack of shoulder definition and the flat-lay collar. Just a reminder to not let love of a color or print make you overlook other features. I’m VERY bad about that.
Button-down: Anthropologie, 2x
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short. 2021
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline Slip-ons, 2021
TUESDAY
Hair Cut Day, Hallelujah! I just couldn’t take it one more day. Really, the haircut won’t solve the humidity problem but. It’s BETTER. I went back to the woman who trimmed my hair when I thought my Lovely Haircut Boy was just on extended vacation…but then I found out the salon had closed and he was lost to me forever.
Everybody leaves.
Anyway, Favorite Dress, Wear #2,893. Still going strong.
Dress: Junarose, 22. 2017
Cardigan: Old Navy, 2x. 2017. Comparable.
Sneakers: Keds Champions, 2021
WEDNESDAY
I already hit my word quota for the day. See picture.
Top: Torrid, 3x. 2021
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda, 20 short. 2021
Sneakers: Converse Shoreline Slip-ons, 2021
THURSDAY
Swishy polka-dot dress day cuz, as my mid-20’s best friend Mary once said, “I just wanna feel like a girl!” as she accepted a hook-up call from a guy late at night, haha.
Mary is who I lived with when I first moved out of my mother’s house at age 25. It was a lovely, large 2-bedroom house in fancy-schmancy Brookville on a 2-acre horse farm. We paid EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS (gah) and took care of the horses (2 Paso Finos, 2 mini horses, and a couple goats) for the rent.
Landlady Penny tried to take advantage by calling on the weekends and saying things like, “tack up the Pasos, hubby and I are going for a trail ride,” or “put the mini in the van and drive it to Cornell for an exam.” I quickly learned the art of avoidance, aka close the blinds and don’t answer the phone, but Mary never quite got that so she was always stuck doing ridiculous things that were not part of our rental arrangement.
Good Times.
But yeah, girly dress for a girly day.
Dress: Osei-Duro, 3x. 2020
Sneakers: Keds Champions, 2021

You know I have to disagree with you about the Monday thought. I think it’s good to overlook some of our crazy details we think are important. Because that top is wonderful on you (IMO). It shows you have a quirky sense of humor and aren’t afraid of color and fun.
Life is fun, but never do you get everything you want …whether it’s people, places or things!!

Disagree away, my friend!

Monday’s shirt is so great and yet…now I see what you mean about the collar. What the heck? Why isn’t a normal collar? Even a limp normal collar is better than a flattened out one. Is this some kind of special “collar for a girl”? Hmmm. I also see what you mean about the shoulders. So I guess I’m somewhere between you and Jodie on this one.

I like all of those outfits – Monday included.
